Aizawa started blankly back at the blonde, sipping his coffee carefully. “Aizawa Shouta. Heroics Department,” he said flatly, not really sure what else to say. It wasn’t like All Might would know him by his hero name, given that he was an underground hero.
“We’ll be working together a little more closely than some of the others, assuming you are in fact teaching in the heroics department.”
He laughed to himself. The thought of All Might teaching something like Math or History was strange enough to make Aizawa laugh. That was a feat on it’s own.
“You’ll also be working alongside Blood King. He’s the homeroom teacher for class 1-B this year.”
“Oh, Sekijiro? We’ve crossed paths before. He’s quite stern, seems like he’d make a fine teacher.” All Might smiled at his coworker, not wanting to start off on the wrong foot with somebody he would be working with.
So this is the infamous Aizawa Shouta, thought Toshinori. Callous, and known for expelling his students. Toshinori stood a slight bit taller, not wanting to seem intimidated by Aizawa, for he certainly was. Hearing slight movements behind him, All Might turned his head just enough to see that the conference room was clearing out. The meeting was over, of course.
“And yes, to answer your assumption, I’ll be teaching field work exercises,” the pro boasted. He couldn’t let slip that he was mainly here to find a successor to his quirk, of which few knew its true power. It was capable of being passed down to others, and in the process becoming more and more powerful with each new bearer. All Might had been given a few recommendations from Nedzu, one of the very few who knew his true intentions, but nothing was set in stone yet.
Frankly, Toshinori Yagi had given up on himself. There wasn’t much he could do nowadays after his injury, which had begun to take more of a mental toll on him rather than physically. He was lucky to have even made it out alive after his battle with All For One, but he was too focused on how pathetic he had become in the process to even consider his luck.
“Are you a homeroom teacher as well?” Toshi asked as he tried to get his head elsewhere.

Aizawa’s eyes widened slightly at the news, not sure if he completely believed it or not. How could- No. No this made perfect sense. No one was invincible, not even the number one hero.
As the others seemed to go through a myriad of emotions, Nedzu cleared his throat to garner their attention once more. “Thank you All Might, I know that must have been difficult.”
“Now, like I said this information needs to be on a need to know basis. We want to keep this information specifically from the public, but the students as well. There’s no telling how this information could affect the state of our super hero society. I hope that you all understand that my trust in all of you is not misplaced, but should I find out that any of you have leaked this information, I will have to take drastic measures to protect the students, the school, and the rest of our staff.”
Shifting uncomfortably in his seat, Aizawa knew that Nedzu wasn’t joking. In fact, he very rarely ever had a sense of humor to begin with, but the way he was speaking now proved just how serious he was on his threat. Not that he had anything to worry about, as far as Aizawa was concerned. He had been working with the same people at UA since he started teaching and he trusted them with just about everything. They all had potential both individually and as a group, something Aizawa appreciated greatly.
“That is all I needed to speak with you about today. Does anyone have any questions or concerns about the information that you have been given?” Nedzu concluded, eyes scanning the silent room for any sign of curiousity or question.
The meeting ended on that note and some left the room while others went to talking amongst themselves. The tension now cleared, Aizawa decided it was in his best interest to get more coffee now while everyone was distracted. Bringing his mug over and placing it under the spout, he paused for a moment before searching the cabinets for another mug.
Aizawa was a lot of things, and depending on who you ask, he might be self-centered and lack empathy. That was… partially true, but he wasn’t heartless. He just wasn’t good at showing his emotions, not that that mattered to him.
Once his mug was filled he replaced it with the extra mug he found and watched as it filled up about half way, careful to leave some room for anything to be added. He took his coffee black and only ever added things like cream, sugar, or whatever when he was ordering from a coffee shop.
Mugs in hand he made his way quietly over to All Might and extended the mug to the hero. “Here, figured you could use this.”
Toshinori turned around and was surprised at who was now greeting him, coffee in hand. His large hand reached out and took the mug that was being handed to him, his thick fingers brushing against others for a mere moment, and he brought the mug to his lips to taste. “Thank you, that’s very kind of you,” he blurted, caught off guard by this act of kindness from somebody who, from what All Might had observed before the meeting had started, seemed entirely bereft of it.
The coffee was hot, but not too hot. The pro hero took a gentle sip of it, careful not to burn his tongue. He would have preferred some sugar in it, but he was intrigued by the his new coworker and felt the need to assay him instead of going to retrieve a packet of sugar. Also, the man didn’t appear as if his only goals were to give Yagi coffee and then go do something more important.
The teacher was on the taller side, definitely not as tall as Toshinori himself, and appeared to be not skinny, but built of lean muscle. He didn’t resemble the sort of hero who preoccupied himself with fighting or direct field work. He was… different.
All Might wondered what this man’s quirk could be. He figured it could be related to the trail of bandages that seemed to have no end, but something told him that that was an incorrect assumption, and that was the teacher’s eyes. They were incredibly tired and emotionless (save for a hint of anger), but they managed to be alluring in their own distinct way. All Might took a drink and then quickly stuck his hand out after realizing he may have been rude.
“Sorry, I didn’t catch your name?” exclaimed the mountainous pro hero.

Principal Nedzu began to speak, signaling the beginning of the meeting. “Now, as you all know, we’re welcoming a new faculty member to UA High.” All Might felt a minute amount of heat in his cheeks as the principal continued. Was he nervous? Too proud? Yagi was generally good with hiding his true emotions from those around him, as he had had a lot of practice with that, but this was a different case entirely. What if he was a terrible teacher? What if he failed all of these bright new heroes? He took a deep, shaky breath, trying intently to listen to the principal more than his inner critic, his smile unwavering.
“We are very honored to have the number one hero here out our school teaching our future, and who knows, maybe we can learn a little from him too.” Nedzu smiled in Yagi’s direction.
“Oh please, I think you’ve got that the wrong way around! And let me just say, I have the utmost respect for this school and can only hope to better it.”
Aizawa turned his attention to his colleague, listening half heartedly and really surveying how everyone else in the room was reacting to the news. His dark eyes fell on All Might and they narrowed almost immediately at his comment. He was trying way too hard to impress. Aizawa made a note of that for later.
“I know it’s a bit sudden and a little unorthodox, but I believe he will be an excellent asset to us all,” Nedzu began, gesturing with his paw towards the group before him. “That being said, we want to keep this on a need to know basis for now. I’m sure the media will find out one way or another, but I’d rather not bother with making a press conference on this matter.”
The group nodded in understanding.
“Also, I have something I need to ask of all of you,” he said, a little more serious this time so his colleagues would understand the severity of the situation. “While having All Might here is wonderful, there is something that you must be aware of. All Might, would you care to explain, or should I?”
And with that all eyes turned to All Might, curious and prodding.
The colossal man clenched his teeth. He was entirely aware that he’d have to discuss this with multiple others sooner or later, but just couldn’t figure out the best way to break the news. After clearing his throat and doing what he could to mentally prepare himself, he stood to speak.
“I…” he began. God, I already don’t know what to say. “About five years ago,” he paused to take a deep breath, “I received a… detrimental injury after battling with a man whose quirk was to steal other’s quirks. I was able to makei it out alive in the end, but I suffered immense damage to my torso and my stomach was completely destroyed in the process. Since then I have somewhat recovered, but I can now only use my quirk for a couple hours a day, if that.” Toshinori swallowed hard and looked at those around them.
The others looked at him all over, peering at his chest and into his dark eyes. Their faces were full of fear; they now knew that their symbol of peace might not remain as such for much longer. Their beacon was losing its light. Seeing their faces like this pained All Might. It made him feel absolutely powerless, as if he could no longer help anyone. Now, he was the helpless one. His breath hitched upon their revelation.
Returning to his seat, he stopped himself from shooting a worried look to Nedzu. All Might wondered if he should show them his true form, but he felt like that would be too much for now. He wouldn’t allow the others to see him at such a powerless state and god, did he hate himself for being so weak. He believed that he was nothing without his quirk.

Staff meetings were always a bore for Aizawa. More often than not these meetings were brief and the information could have easily been sent via email. However, this was different.
As Aizawa started up the coffee machine in the teacher’s lounge, he began to mull over the source of today’s meeting topic: All Might would be joining the UA staff starting this year. It wasn’t entirely shocking, Aizawa understood the benefits of having the Number One Hero teaching the next generation of heroes.
However, he couldn’t ignore the gnawing feeling in the back of his mind that this was a bad idea. All Might’s presence brought attention to the school, and in more ways than one.
He only hoped that Principal Nedzu had thought of that and had made countermeasures for such a thing.
Bringing his coffee to his lips, he glances around the room at the other teachers who were all flocking to All Might like he was some sort of spectacle to be ogled. While it annoyed Aizawa beyond reasoning, he kept quiet and made his way over to his desk quietly.
After all, there were things to do before school started- more important things.
Toshinori’s broad chest stuck out as he scratched the back of his head, his trademark grin never showing any intentions of leaving his face as he was surrounded and prodded by many of the UA staf members. He was used to this kind of attention and didn’t mind too much, but somebody else stuck out to him- the tired looking man, clad in all black save for odd bandages wrapped around his neck. “Was that part of his quirk?” he questioned. The man seemed to be the only person here who was not infatuated with Yagi and that caused him to stick out like a sore thumb. In fact, he seemed angry.
All Might let out a deep chuckle as he drew his gaze away. “Now now, there are more important matters here to attend to,” he said, although he wasn’t really sure of the truth behind his words, for the meeting really was about his position here at UA. He brushed his hands down the front of his characteristic yellow suit and smoothed out his tie before finding himself a chair at the table.
He looked around the room, enamored with those who were training the next generation of heroes. He felt great pride being asked to teach here as well.
Aizawa took to distracting himself with some of the entrance exam paper work he had been neglecting to attend to this past week. In his defense, it never mattered because someone would pester him to redo it at some point during the year.
When he heard All Might speak, however, he scoffed. It wasn’t that Aizawa hated All Might, that was too strong a word for it. He more or less saw him as the physical manifestation of everything he hated. He had brute strength and was reckless, the media loved and flocked to him when he worked a case, and he was just too… friendly for Aizawa’s tastes.
Of course, he’d never admit that out loud because someone would beg to question why he was friends with Yamada.
It was just another annoyance that he’d have to deal with while he worked.
Principal Nedzu began to speak, signaling the beginning of the meeting. “Now, as you all know, we’re welcoming a new faculty member to UA High.” All Might felt a minute amount of heat in his cheeks as the principal continued.
