New Phase in Life

In less than 4 days I’ll take my boards and close this academic chapter part of life and FINALLY enter into the professional world. The job search has tested my faith again and again. But as each week go by God insists that I trust Him and his timing. I want to imagine what living in a city would be like but after numerous rejections that just takes too much out of me. So here I am reminding myself my timing, my plans are inferior to the Creator’s. I will end up exactly where I’m meant to be.

When you read Job, don’t look for an easy answer to, “Why and how do the righteous suffer?” There’s not one. “If God is good, why is there so much evil in the world?” There is not an easy answer to that. If there was any book where God had the opportunity to give that answer, here it was. Here is Job looking up, “Why is this happening?” It would be easy for God to say, “Here’s why.” But He doesn’t do that. What does God do? He asks Job forty or more questions to reveal to Job His character as the only sovereign God. He says, “You can trust me.”

You can laugh at Christianity. You can mock and ridicule it. But it works. If you trust Christ, start watching your attitudes and actions—Jesus Christ is in the business of changing lives. Christianity is not something to be shoved down your throat or forced upon you. You have your life to live and I have mine. All I can do is tell you what I have learned and experienced. After that, what you do with Christ is your decision.

This may sound silly

but the new puppy we got is teaching me so much about patience and forgiveness. It’s so easy to punish him harshly to get gain his obedience but I know it’ll just destroy his trust in us. Praise the Lord for his patience and mercy. I know, this post was kinda silly.

Advent is upon us

which means pastors will be preaching about baby Jesus once again. This previous Sunday my pastor said something that stuck. He said Christmas time is not the time to see the light in us but the light shone onto us. 

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life,and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.

6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe.8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.

Fall is just around the corner

When things are going well, it's such a struggle to desire God's word.

"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety." Psalm 4:8 (NIV)

At the end of the day as I'm reflecting on the tasks I've accomplished, I find satisfaction and peace in that I still have a roof over my head, I have a loving husband sleeping next to me, there's money in the bank, there's food in the fridge and there's a job for me to go to the next day. 

This verse shakes up all of that. While David was running away from King Saul, sleeping in caves, he said this prayer. The Lord is our peace. Knowing that Jesus is the light on our path and our safety is enough, despite our circumstances.

Gay Couples Can Get Married in Presbyterian Churches Now

A historic vote by one of America's largest mainline denominations shows that as the laws change, faith is changing, too.

As America becomes more liberal, where does that leave faith and morality according to the Bible? PC of USA believes as cultures change the interpretations of the Bible must be changed in step with the times. Is that how Bible should be read? Something to think about.

So it's Pride festival weekend here in Columbus and while walking about downtown last night I couldn't help but to think to myself. "Wow! I didn't know there were this many same-sex couples in this town!" 

Please don't misunderstand me. I'm all about hate the sin, not the sinner but it felt so strange when all of a sudden straight couples were seemingly the minority. 

While reading Eziekiel 3 this morning, this passage jumped out at me:

20 “Again, when a righteous person turns from their righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before them, they will die. Since you did not warn them, they will die for their sin. The righteous things that person did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. 21 But if you do warn the righteous person not to sin and they do not sin, they will surely live because they took warning, and you will have saved yourself.”

This passage surely answers this question back in Genesis:

Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" "I don't know," he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?"

But where does this leave me regarding my faith and my interactions with my homosexual friend and family members?

This I don't know.
