“Thanks for the support! It makes me happy to have you cheerin’ me on!”

“I gotta say, If I ever find anything nifty up top I’ll be sure to bring it to ya! You never know if it’ll come in handy!”

“I haven’t done much with the scouts so far. I’m too new to go on any missions or anythin’.”

“But I have a feeling I’ll have fun! I gotta know, though. What’s your favorite thing about workin’ in the hydroelectricity plant? I dun wanna seem rude, but it doesn’t sound as exciting as, say, the Swallows or Eagles.”

(D.. Does the Power plant seem that boring to kids these days?)

It’s not quite about how exciting it is– It’s more the knowledge that I’m helping with a very important job.

Though– I suppose every job here is important. Again, Regarding the whole “Like a Machine” speech I gave.

The only other thing I guess I could say is that it interests me! It’s fun trying to figure out how to make it better.

“I wouldn’t call the Power Plant boring, really. Just not my kinda thing ‘sall.”

“It’s awesome that you love what you do! Oh! Can you use your tech skills to make stuff other than Power Plant related things? Or are you totally focused on the Plant?”

“I bet you’ll be just as cool, or even cooler than your master! Seein’ as technology advances as time goes on, so will you! I don’t pretend to understand it, but I can tell you’re gonna make your mark here!

I’m happy you believe in me, though! So far Sloan’s the only one who’s done that…

Oh man, I totally wanna be a scout! I’m gonna follow in Sloan’s pawsteps and help so many people! I wanna be able to help others the way Sloan’s helped me!

I feel pretty sure that you’re happy in the Raven’s, yeah? Did ya always want to be a tech ‘mon?”

Awh, Thank you for saying so, Lux! It means a lot to hear that.

And! I swear, as Lloyd of the Ravens, I will cheer you on, in your quest to become the greatest scout Sanctuary’s ever seen! You’ll help so many ‘mons they won’t know what to do except thank you and be amazing themselves!

… But, To answer your question– I’d always wanted to work with the Ravens, but It was my master who helped narrow my passion to working at the power plant.

Still– I hope you’re just as happy working in the scouts as I am in the Ravens!

“Your master sounds like a strong guy! I can see you care about him a lot! Some ‘mon say that an apprentice sometimes becomes like their mentor. Did you get any, like, quirks or something from him? I haven’t known Sloan long enough to pick anything up yet, but I really want to get her way with words. If she talks, you listen, y’now?”

I’d like to think I picked up some quirks from him. My Love of working with Technology– Well, I was already interested, He just made it a definite. “Stoked the ember,” as he’d say.

He is a good ‘mon. And I hope to be like him some day.

But I have no doubt that you can be every bit as good as a scout as Miss Sloan is! If you keep up your training and work hard, there’s not anything you can’t do!

… Oh! I should ask– do you want to be a scout? Or had you thought about any of the other Guilds?

Good to know Miss Sloan’s treating you well! She is an amazing Scout, I’m sure you’ll do amazing! As her Number one apprentice, after all.

And– Guessed it in one. I had a Master myself! To be honest, Miss Sloan sounds a lot like him. He was stern– after all, he had to keep the power plant in order, and that’s no small job.

But, He wasn’t a bad Master in the least! He always was willing to listen if we ever had a problem and walked us through it. I owe him a lot.

… Though I think he laughed for a week straight when he learned of my nickname. Hoo boy, that was a fun one.

My Mom insisted on nicknaming me “Her little Cave Carrot” when I was little. But that’s what parents are like, right?

“Cave Carrot? That’s amazing!!! I’ve always wanted a nickname! Though Sloan calls me ‘Kiddo’. Does that count? Anyway it’s super cool that you were born here! What was it like growing up here? I’m a bit new here. Only been here a few months.”

It’s… It’s a lot less cool when your mother insists on calling you that when you’re trying to seem professional.

But, It was nice living here. Sure, There is trouble here. After all, There’s not much left of the world where there isn’t trouble. You could almost believe the ‘mons here have enough warmth in their heart to melt the Everstorm.

I suppose it’s a bit like a machine– It’s a tight squeeze, sure– and sometimes the gears grind on each other. But when we work together, We can make wonders happen.

Oh! I almost forgot to ask you about your apprenticeship! How’s Miss Sloan treating you? Not too badly, I hope?

“A big machine? I never thought of it like that. Though I suppose you would with your machine mind!

Oh, and Sloan is the best mentor ever!!! She’s really strong and really smart! Some call her ‘gruff’, but she’s really just a big softie! Her training’s no joke, but I can already tell I’m improving y’know?

Speakin’ of apprenticeships, how bout yours? You must’ve had some training to be as good with machines as you are!”
