“Me? Don’t worry about me – worry about that bugger. If it weren’t for me stepping in, he would have taken that Larvesta and punted it into the river like he did to the rest of ‘em.” The behemoth’s foot wedged the wooden doorway open, just barely enough for the rock-type to peer in on occasion. It was more so to keep an eye on the clock than the bug-type wandering about indoors. Roy put a lot of trust in the brat, probably out of pity for the wee little thing.
“It really helps to have somebody to chat with other than that.. 'friend’ of mine. Even if that somebody’s a bug-type out of all things, it’s still good to talk with somebody who’s put up with Oscar as much as I have. He can be a real handful sometimes, that you probably know already.”
The turning and colliding of solid stone sounded as the Gigalith slowly veered his head to glance at the wall clock inside. Ten-Twenty Five it read, and Oscar said he’d be back on the dime at 10:30. No matter their purpose of being there, the Skarmory didn’t exactly take nicely to strangers lurking near his abode. Five minutes as all that the old gigalith had to chat away before his not-so-kind friend came storming back to his home.
He may as well make the best of his time and get to the point. There was no sense in beating around the bush with what few minutes he was willing to spear.
“Oscar is the type of 'mon who gets what he wants. If he has what he wants, he’ll be fine and dandy – he’ll be working up a big old storm if he doesn’t. He’s kinda like a child in some regards, but don’t you go telling him I said that.” He breathed, turning his stone head, positioning himself until his immobile eyes faced the kind 'mon he spoke to. “So what do you do? Well I’ll tell you how to deal with him - you give that skarm what he wants.”
“I know, I know” The old man swiftly correct “I’m not sounding all too smart, but you have to hear me out first.”
“You don’t up and give into him. You give him just enough so he’ll up and leave you alone. Once you start, you don’t stop. Eventually he’ll quit being so demanding - he’ll start asking for less and less of you until it seems like he barely wants a single thing.”
“I’ve dealt with his type before. Figured since it always worked on them, I may as well try it with him. He’s yet to realize it, or at-least I think he hasn’t. It may as well be fool-proof at this point.” A heavy sigh sounded from the ancient 'mon, the expression in his eyes remaining straight and as immobile as they always have. It’s been at-least five months since he partnered up with Oscar, and the crumbling boulder has been putting on the act ever since. He had an almost limitless supply of patience, but no matter how patience a man was, some people carry way too much emotional weight.
It was taxing on most days, and on the worst of days it hurt. But the Gigalith had too much dignity within him to show any signs of weakness, he did not want to show frailty in the presence of somebody who’d wind up abusing it.
“You seem like a nice lass - you magpies 'n doves always wind up makin’ life her hecka lot more easier. You people deserve more credit than us lazy Eagles. So promise me this one favor and stay far away from that ‘Skarm as you can.”
“I don’t want to find out he’s ruined your day.”
