THE ANGEL CONTINUED TO STUDY THE WHITELIGHTER , concern written all over his features when their fingers held on to his coat . it was enough to make cosimo stay close to them , trying to assure them that he was not just going to disappear from their life once again . no , he would be damned if anything or anyone came between them again - not this time . not when he was stronger than ever and already defeated god’s will in the worst ways , by resurrecting his wife and their firstborn . i’m okay . a deep sense of relief washed over the blond and he let out a sigh , hands staying on their face even as they let go . perhaps he needed a moment to process this too - the fact that the two of them were finally together again . if anyone asked him , cosimo would not be able to say how much longer it took for him to let go , just to smile once pik placed his hand on his arm . ❛ i’m afraid the answer to that question is rather difficult . ❜ but he was willing to answer , of course . there weren’t many souls in this universe that he trusted as much as he trusted them . ❛ i’ve built myself a home , by the very edge of the forest . we should go there - it is the only place i know that is truly safe from the queen and her spies . ❜ and the conversation that they were about to have was one that he did not want to be overheard . ❛ we could walk or i could use my wings to get us there … whatever you prefer . ❜ it was obvious that their wings were gone and while they could orb now , the last thing the angel wanted to do was to overwhelm them with any choices .
A DEEP FAMILIARITY IN THEIR BROTHER’S EYES THEN ... as they remained in their own . it was raw , without frailty . it was what made cosimo ... cosimo & it had grounded pinniki before time & time again . but it was true ... there was something different , something fiercer in them now , too . a boldness , perhaps , that doubled tripled with time . it concerned them , what might’ve called for it , what they hadn’t been by his side for . all that kept them sound was that they were would be now . reassurance endowed the whitelighter & they nodded earnestly in turn to the silent promise . their belief & trust in their brother was & continued to be insurmountable .
it was a question best left for a space more private . pik had considered this , but simply could not help themselves . in response , they took a breath & nodded firmly . ❛ i understand . ❜ the seelie realm was foreign to them , but the fae weren’t . the consequences of exposing a truth were deadly . vision flickered at the mention of his wings & pik looked down briefly , ❛ your wings ... ❜ they began in a murmur , collecting themselves & looking back up . ❛ yes , we can travel by your wings . but once we’re there , i want to know everything . ❜ a sore spot , but nothing that couldn’t be waved off for the moment . they’d been gentle with orbing & preferred wings to walking especially if cosi didn’t mind .

THERE WAS A CERTAIN FRUSTRATION BUILDING UP WITHIN HER . after half a minute or so of unsuccessfully trying to measure their health in any conventional way, darcy gave up with a sigh, although she kept her hold on the whitelighter’s hand nonetheless. ( better to have some leverage, should they start struggling again. ) no pulse, no odd temperature to speak of, no physical anomalies she could detect — or treat . so the months ( and for fuck’s sake — months ) spent lost in the wander woods had done a number on their head only ; and since pik was something of a mess at the best of times , that definitely wasn’t good. at the very least they remembered who they were, though. any negative impulses ( much as she had them ) on her part would likely only make things worse rather than move them along, so darcy swallowed her exasperation and tried to remain calm.
which was easier said then done when they surprised her with a sudden movement — she was about to complain ; to remove her wrist from their hold and push them back down, when something in the whitelighter’s gaze made her freeze . up close, the worry and concern in their eyes was clear as day, and it caught her completely off guard. she’d known, of course, that they cared — all too much so, annoyingly so, disconcertingly so — but this was different. this wasn’t like before, when all threats to their person had been entirely hypothetical and based on the potential of what her actions might draw them into at some point ; something someone as idealistic as pik might have disregarded. ( she didn’t want to call them outrightly naive , but the fact she’d seen them mugged twice was certainly informing her opinion of the matter — how could they accurately judge her with a general judgment this questionable ? ) the witch had expected them to give up once they realized she was truly hopeless — but now? shit had hit the fan, for them, and yet — and yet .
for a moment, darcy remained too shellshocked by this honest regard to react ; simply staring at the former angel ( who made their denomination all honor ) with an open mouth, still slightly ajar from the chastisement she’d been about to direct at them before. swallowing drily, she tried to recover some of her poise by throwing off her stupor — and any thoughts of caring — by sitting back some and freeing her hands from pik’s grasp to wave away any concerns . “ i was caught by the seelie queen’s summoning spell and have been here ever since, ” she explained, tone carefully neutral and underscored by a shrug. “ i guess that’s what ran interference on your spying . i’ve been fine. i am fine. ” she hoped it would reassure them enough to let it be — and start worrying about themselves for a change. the witch cleared her throat and stood up, needing some distance to properly collect herself. “ i’ll go make some tea and grab some of my books ; maybe i can find something that’ll help to get you back on track. ” and before they could protest, she added: “ you — stay. down. don’t make it worse. ” and with a last warning look ( and throwing a blanket from a nearby stool over them ) she went back to the kitchen, a little more hurriedly than was maybe appropriate to be inconspicuous.
APPREHENSIVE BROWNS TOOK WHAT INFORMATION THEY COULD ... in the silent exchange as they scoured the witch’s eyes & their unceasing grip on her wrist told a story of welter & woe . they hadn’t a clue what had happened to her after she’d disappeared , but dammit did they try to find her find out what had happened . questions like : was she safe ? was she okay ? had she tried to call them & they couldn’t hear her ? submerged them as they tried to follow a broken compass in their head . the elders were no help , either . it was damn near impossible to get an audience with one even before the attacks & the fact the spell had separated them from her in the midst of a war only drove pik closer to the edge . screw duty . screw assignments . screw the elders . this wasn’t about ‘ the job ’ , this was about fearing for the well being of a friend . pik had grown to care dearly for darcy & not knowing what had happened to her was the definition of hell .
but the moment came & went ... for one of them , at least , as pik’s hand stayed hovering above their chest , catching onto air after she’d taken her’s back . wide eyes remained on their charge , no less stunned as they slowly brought their arm back down to help keep them propped up . perplexity eased itself into their expression at the mention of the seelie queen paired with a summoning spell the involvement of the queen hadn’t seemed to cross their mind in all this ... but it made sense , they supposed . the why of it all , however , was still up in the air . they narrowed their eyes as vision swept to the side in clouded thought ... but then a light : ‘ i’ve been fine . i am fine . ’ focus shot back to the witch , features softening as a small smile tugged at the corners of their lips . thank god . why had they been so worried ? she could had held her own . of course she would . the alternative outcome they’d imagined had just been so hellish it’d taken on a life of its own & brought them to doubt .
slowly , they sunk back down into the couch , relieved as their hottest question had been doused . however , as she stood , their features tensed again & they moved to prop themselves back up ... but , much to her credit , before they could even part their lips to object , they were stopped , warned , & covered with a blanket . this wasn’t exactly anything new ( minus the blanket ) from darcy when they wished to follow her ... nor was their want to follow her . it was true they needed some time to rest , heal , but they’d just found darcy . once they realized it was her , distance was but a wild concept . a moment had passed before pik decided to orb for the first time in a long time from their spot on the couch to a few spaces behind her in the kitchen ... thankfully without any immediate ramifications . ❛ darce ? ❜ they voiced quietly after materializing more so to not piss her off further with a jump . ❛ the seelie queen ... she’s why we’re here ? how many are here because of this spell ? ❜ bewildered browns kept on the brunette as questions began to fill their head , but they took it easy . if they only knew more on the matter .

— dagon hummed, nodding, “ yes, he is. the most adorable. though i’m sure most parents will say that of their own children, ” she replied. “ thank you. ” an afterthought, still. but she was getting better about her manners. mostly. she smiled as the other waved at marcos, and her son lifted his own hand, although he didn’t really wave exactly. the demon prince smiled, “ marcos. ” she replied as she carded her fingers through the infant’s hair. “ i’m dagon, ” she offered her own introduction as well, not intending to hide who she was.
MORE COMMON IN THE REALM OF THE MUNDANE ... which was where the scene sent them for a hot minute & pik was silently finding comfort there . they landed in a memory of a time they spotted a mother walking on a busy sidewalk pushing a stroller & sipping her coffee . the child inside the stroller kicked a toy out onto the curb & even with the various distractions around her , the mother was able to notice , return the toy to the child , & carry on . all before the child even knew what had happened . a quirk of their brows & pik chuckled lightly noticing the boy lift his hand as if to wave back . ❛ hi , marcos ! ❜ they voiced , sending a smile his way . browns swept to his mother upon receiving her name & they motioned to themselves . ❛ i’m pik . it’s nice to meet the two of you . ❜ sitting a short distance away , the friendly whitelighter’s focus flickered to the empty chair at their table & they gestured to it fore looking to find dagon’s eyes . ❛ do you mind if i sit with you ? ❜

of all the hundreds or possibly thousands of books in the library, it was just genevieve’s luck that she might reach for one at the same time as someone else. she wasn’t desperate to read it, and she was hardly short on options to replace it with, yet it seemed that she had crossed paths with a particularly altruistic stranger. she followed their stare, brow raising when she saw what she presumed to be their assortment. from the looks of it, she wasn’t the only one biding her time by reading. albeit she wasn’t the most voracious reader, and she hardly ranked within the top hundred in the realm, but she thought she was at least doing decently for someone who could count the number of times she entered a library in the last century on one hand. ❛ so you do. ❜ hell, she hardly had the patience for one book, let alone the small army they’d amassed. even the thought was laughable. ❛ i didn’t know the seelie hosted speed reading competitions. ❜ amused, she accepted the book, casually leafing through it for a moment before her eyes flicked up to them. ❛ first time in a library? ❜ she could see how having unlimited access might overstimulate a bibliophile, leading them to stumble into the predicament that seemed to have unfolded at their table. ❜
COULD’VE DOUBLED FOR AN ALIEN , THEN , TRYING TO FIT IN ... as their friendly smile wavered & their eyes shifted in attempting to decipher how sincere she was being . a seelie speed reading competition sounded incredibly interesting & their naiveté quickly got the better of them as their expression transitioned into a wholly curious oblivious one . ❛ ... do they ? ❜ they inquired in turn & there went the joke , flying , granted high clearance over their head . browns kept down on the atypical stranger as she appeared to leaf through the book’s pages & like a wet noodle their arm fell to their side fore they began to consider their next endeavor : whether to continue their hunt or start on the piles of books they already had . it was a toss up . had been since the first round of accumulation . one becoming too grand for the indecisive whitelighter . ❛ no , not at all . ❜ they replied , welcoming the question in a wholesome manner & shaking their head of their dubitative thoughts . ❛ i , um well , in this library , yes . kind of ... ❜ they gestured to the building , stumbling over their words as they tried to find their footing again . ❛ i’ve been here before ... in several of the mundane’s , but ... it’s been awhile . ❜ focus went back to her fore prattling on for too long & the erstwhile angel cleared their throat . ❛ ... sorry , um ... have you been here before ? ❜

The behaviour of the other was odd. Very odd. Especially towards the drink they ordered and he took a sip of his own. His dark brown eyes eyeing them very curiously. As he introduced himself he furrowed his brows in confusion. It sounded like he started of saying he was what can only really be an angel but then changed his answer to whitelighter. As if they forgot what they actually were. The name was interesting as well but then he was called Cassian which wasn’t a particularly common name. So not something he can really comment on. ❝ Yeah a shadowhunter, I’m Cassian, ❞ he introduced himself to the other since they did him the curtesy of answering his questions. He took another sip. ❝ You almost said angel at first didn’t you? ❞ He asked. When your job was to ask questions it was hard to get out of the habit.
ENCOURAGED BY THE ELDERS TO KEEP THEIR PAST IN THE PAST ... on one hand & not yet ready to let go of it on the other had brought on a few bittersweet mistakes in their predominately imperfect way with words . they idly tapped on the side of their glass as a child might , silently noting this as they were sure their opposite had . at his introduction , however , their focus was welcomingly deterred & they smiled over at the shadowhunter . ❛ it is nice to meet you , cassian . i wish it were under better circumstances . ❜ they voiced , referring to the attacks . brows furrowed slightly & browns swept back down to their drink but the question brought their eyes back over & at first they wanted to wave it off , chalk it up to forgetfulness , but decided against it . ❛ yes . i am not , but yes . ❜ they replied & a quiet sigh followed . shake it off , pinniki , shake it off . they cleared their throat , ❛ are you here most nights ? ❜ they inquired , both in need of a subject change & generally interested .

They seemed rather new at this truth be told. At home with their powers but also incredibly naive? An interesting combination to say the least. Not something he has commonly come across. Could their life have been very sheltered? Young smiled gently as the other confirmed they would be more careful. He could just imagine the others reactions. ❝ Pleasure to meet you Pik, ❞ he was curious he hadn’t met many whitelighters. Maybe just the one or two in passing. So he didn’t have great knowledge on them other than they used to be mundane. ❝ I think there is something about every species here. Even the ones that have fallen into legend like Phoenixes and Dragons, ❞ he agreed. ❝ Good way of getting a better understanding of who is staying with us. Though I take it you are more curious about our hosts? ❞ He asked. Which was the natural thing to be. ❝ It is, ❞ he agreed. ❝ And much more easy to access, ❞ tomes on other species were not so easy to get back on Earth. At least here he can read on other species and maybe make his own theories and then see if he can confirm them. He would also call on Astra if she was interested.
BROWS CRINKLED A BIT BUT BROWNS WERE OVERALL COMPOSED ... keeping on the male briefly at his mention of phoenixes & dragons falling into legend . that was the second time in their existence they’d ever heard this . only once before during their second time on earth & they had yet to encounter another of either species since their very first time so , admittedly , there were several hints as to what might have become of each , but pik did not take them lightly . they did not want to at all . it was difficult for them to accept these species had become so rare they were now considered myth & the bloodshed that had to have taken place to ensure this outcome . there were countless truths similar to this that pinniki knew of but did not want to accept & it was one of their greatest weaknesses . the dark-rooted blonde smiled lightly at young’s inquiry & they nodded in confirmation . ❛ yes , i am . ❜ they started , ❛ my knowledge on the fae is fairly vague . i know of them & are familiar with most other species well , the written versions . i’ve met various types & hybrids over the centuries , but the encounters were always so brief . literature became quite dear to me after that . ❜ a consequence of their punishment , as it was meant to be , but in the grand scheme of things was supposed to have been quite the contrary ... or so their creator once claimed . ❛ & what about you ? i assume you & most are much more informed on the other species than i . ❜

THE HYBRID KNEW that they did not mean to scare her and she did not blame them for her own reaction . just a few days ago , it wouldn’t have startled her in the first place and it was a simple sign that olivia needed to work on herself - to find a way to feel more confident and secure again , even if that would not be easy while they were all stuck in this hellhole . ❛ i’m sure . take it . it’s a good one , i promise . ❜ it was just like she said , she knew it by heart anyway . livia found a strange sense of comfort in reading books that she already knew , but the seelie library was filled with mundane treasures . probably another attempt to make them feel like this whole situation wasn’t so bad . emerald eyes studied them when they confirmed that they were a whitelighter and she hesitated for a second before she lifted her shoulders into a small shrug . ❛ kind of ? i was born a whitelighter and my blood is angelic , but i’m also part witch . ❜ her gaze dropped and a small scoff came from her lips . ❛ i’m the ultimate outsider . ❜ not only was her existence forbidden , none of the creatures around her seemed to view her as one of them . downworlders had a distaste for her because of her celestial nature and her winged family resented her for her witchcraft . it was a mess .
FATE HAD A FUNNY WAY ABOUT IT IN THIS REALM ... of course ‘ fate ’ or whatever it could be considered could be chalked up to the very real & powerful spell that was deliberately cast to bring all & every supernatural being here , but where was the fun in that ? no , to the believers , fate had delivered this time around . pik had found their brother , their charge , were free well , were kind of free & maybe it’d brought them to her , as well . it was at least something for the believers to ponder . browns flickered to the book with the metaphorical spotlight on it after she’d encouraged them to take it & the dark-rooted blonde smiled fore nodding . ❛ thank you , ❜ they replied & reached to pull it off the shelf . once in their hand , they scanned the cover over fore bringing it down to hold at their side . they noted the hesitation that preceded her answer , her energy , her demeanor , & then everything made sense . soft eyes stayed on her as she seemed to look away & after the small scoff , pinniki looked down . perhaps they weren’t one that could understand . they weren’t a hybrid , after all . especially one so contrast . but the erstwhile angel empathized , regardless . ❛ if you’re waiting for me to pass judgement onto you , know that i won’t . ❜ they voiced , concerned of what she might be thinking . ❛ the opinion of an exiled angel isn’t one that should be taken into consideration , anyway . ❜
heavensreigns:
FATE WORKED IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS - certainly not always in their favor and sometimes it struck when they least expected it . even after five centuries of separation , cosimo never stopped hoping that he would see them again , but if anyone asked him he never would have thought that they would reunite in the seelie realm of all places . the two of them had no ties to it , but just like pik , he was absolutely certain that it was them . he could feel it in his bones , feel it with every fiber of his being and there was no trickery that could allow him to feel the intensity of their bond without being real . the angel felt the whitelighter’s arms tighten around him and he held them close , one of his hands moving to cradle their head as they buried it in his shoulder . it was not easy for cosimo to offer comfort , but with pik ? it was all natural . ❛ it’s okay . ❜ he whispered to them . no words were necessary to make him grasp the thought that was bound to run through their mind right now . that any second , father himself could show up and take it all away again … but that was not going to happen . the blond wouldn’t let him . it hurt to see them like this , so broken up about something neither one of them could control . not before , anyway . not while they were still attempting to play by the rules , but things were different now . ❛ i know you did . i did too . ❜ the male pulled back then , just enough to be able to get a good look at pik . he even placed his hands by his face , not ready to let go just then either . ❛ what matters is that you are okay . you’re okay , aren’t you ? ❜ he asked , unable to hide the concern in his voice .
ANY TYPE OF POISE THEY MIGHT’VE HAD ... was off the table from the jump for ol’ pinniki . of course , even if it hadn’t been , in no way would they have agreed to it . stood before their outcast brother was a similar outcast prone to show their emotions . it’d definitely gotten worse over time with the help of their creator & now even the slightest thing could push them over the edge this , most assuredly , being the greater of them . tear-stained cheeks were brought up slightly from his shoulder as that imperishable longing they’d had to merely stand beside their brother once more was finally being sated & at cosi’s whisper , their chest sank . the words met them in the most comforting of ways & it caused their grip around him to loosen a bit . it is okay . it is now . browns shut tightly for a beat & pik exhaled slowly , calmly . being out of sync for so long deeply dismantled the dark-rooted blonde . only now did they seem to be in sync once again . feeling him pull back then & place his hands on their face , pik’s arms had become limp enough to fall . however , fingers caught on the edges of their brother’s coat , not yet ready to lose that closeness . again , his words soothed . of course he did . of course he’d tried , too . the whitelighter never questioned it . there wasn’t a doubt in their mind that the two would someday be reunited again . pinniki would never stop trying just as they believed cosimo would never stop . chocolate eyes remet their brother’s mismatched & at his question they finally allowed their fingers to slip from the fabric . ❛ yes , ❜ they nodded . ❛ i’m okay . ❜ a glassy gaze stayed on him fore a wide smile began to stretch the corners of their mouth . the erstwhile angel basked in the small but special moment & they brought their hand up to hook onto the outside of his arm as they looked at their brother . it’d been worth it . truly . all of it . everything . for this moment . lids still brimming with tears that only stemmed from joy , their smile grew fore their attention was caught by a kept question so loaded , so inflamed it might as well have been dispatched from the fires of hell . ❛ brother , please , tell me what have you been up to these past five hundred years ? ❜

Zi Shan wasn’t exactly used to someone who was overly concerned about his actual well being about. Definitely a bleeding heart type. That may come to his detriment either by his own doing or someone else. “I can walk, and my internal injuries are just internal bruising but I’ll not be taking any adventurous routes,” he told him. Which meant the walk could take an hour to a few hours longer. He didn’t like the idea of slipping into a river in his current state. His dark eyes spotted a plant and he smirked. “You could pick a few leaves off that plant there with the fluorescent pink flower, but be careful not to touch the others. They won’t harm you but they may cause you to hallucinate should you touch them,” he cautioned. Seelie plants were great for potions, whereas their plants were great for poisons. “It has painkilling properties,” but may come with a bit of a high. He can deal with that if it meant not broadcasting the other he was an unseelie. Might make the trip a bit more fun anyway.
“So you’re a celestial being?” He asked. He recognised the energy, so he was either a whitelighter, Nephilim or an actual angel himself. Zi hadn’t had much experience with angels other than the odd pass by. He also studied a little on them just to have a basic understanding. He didn’t like not knowing what he was dealing with when it came to putting on facades.
PERHAPS THEY WERE WORRYING THEMSELVES TOO MUCH ... with their newly-found acquaintance ; overly concerning themselves with a stranger’s well being ? this never entered the dark-rooted blonde’s thoughts , however . didn’t matter that they barely knew him or at all . what mattered was he was injured & pik wanted to make sure he was ok & that he was safe . far-fetched , perhaps , as the realm harbored danger beneath even the twigs . concerned eyes on zi at his return & the erstwhile angel nodded in agreement not wanting him to take any adventurous routes in his current state , either . as the plant was mentioned , vision followed his & landed on it curiously . browns studied the pink flower for a beat fore looking back down to him . the thought of potentially harming it by plucking its leaves gave the whitelighter pause . however , gingerly collecting a small amount in order to help soothe zi shan’s pain nudged pinniki into it & their gaze returned to the plant fore proceeding forward . tall , gentle , & scrawny did as they were asked & walked back to zi with a few leaves in hand . ❛ here you go , ❜ they offered . ❛ i hope it helps . ❜
interested in the plant they’d just harvested , chocolate eyes had found their way back to it & they nearly missed the question when it was given . focus returned to zi & pinniki smiled lightly . ❛ i am , ❜ they nodded . ❛ a whitelighter . ❜ not by traditional means in any way ... but a whitelighter , nonetheless . they still hadn’t definitively pinpointed their companion’s energy so , curious , they decided to ‘ give it the ol’ college try ’ . ❛ if you don’t mind me asking ... are you a downworlder ? ❜ they calmly inquired . of course if he didn’t want to say , they wouldn’t push . downworlders all downworlders were held by the outcast pinniki in high regards ; just as mundanes & shadowhunters were . a little unorthodox , perhaps , but there were reasons the erstwhile angel had set out to make the mundane realm their new home .
