Warning: none, just a lil drabble because it's been ages since I did anything about Henry
"Sweetheart... I know you are here. Come out of hiding. It's time to go home."
You heard Henry's voice far too close, breath hitched in your throat as you lowered yourself behind one of the trees, trying to make yourself as meek as possible so he wouldn't find you. There was the fact that you might've run away despite his pleas. The only rule was that you wouldn't try such a thing. And now here you were, squeezed against the tree, trying to hold your breath and hope Henry wouldn't find you.
"Sweetheart, it's late. You know it's dangerous being out here by yourself. We must go back to my house."
You quieted down.
Your ears perked, and you listened.
"Sweetheart, come out, come out. Wherever you are..."
The chiming nearly made it sound as if there would be no consequences to you running away. Maybe there wouldn't be. But how would you be sure Henry won't hurt you? Surely, he had always been nice, but you had never dared to anger him.
"Sweetheart."
A few leaves crumpled under Henry's feet. The man paced around trying to find you. A game of hide-and-seek that made your heart beat at the pace of a bunny that was facing a fox. The sound of leaves stopped, and so did the steps, an eerie quietness dropping over you to the point you could only hear your own heartbeat in your ears.
Did he leave? He did. There was complete stillness, quietness. But, no.
No, you would've heard his steps grow quieter until they disappeared, but you didn't. They ceased as if he had never been there.
"There you are, sweetheart. I found you. It's time you and I go back home. And never dare to pull a stunt like that again. Mhm, good girl, sweetheart."
