A lovely little gallery of a little living room with a lot of personality! This living room can be a cozy L shape couch, parallel benches with a dining table between them, a second bed for guests, and it has one more secret. When I teach tiny house classes I leave the table up and turn both benches towards the stairs, which is where I sit to conduct class! I love miniatures. You can see all sorts of little things on that shelf. I have many trinkets, decorations and books of mine in this house. People worry so much about being able to store big things like snowboards and sleeping bags in tiny houses. Well I throw all that stuff outside in a shed just like I've done in a average size house. First thing I look at in tiny houses are the bedrooms! Are they livable? Do they have a closet? Space for setting down books, tea, etc by both sides of the bed? Lamps? If it's a loft bedroom we always put skylights right above where people will sit up in bed to get even more headroom. Tiny houses rarely had stairs back when I was designing the Maiden Mansion and now they are pretty common place which is wonderful! When we design houses we often start with a focal point. First I searched for a bowl I liked enough to design an entire bathroom around and the rest of the bathroom followed. We just drilled a hole in the bowl and bent it slightly for the drain to nestle into it to make it a sink. Here's a view of the other side of the Maiden Mansion. This house is 8.5 ft x 20 ft, but it tends to feel bigger than other tiny houses with the same footprint. It's all space hacks. I made sure all the tall appliances and were pushed as far back as possible. I had the door open to all the low counters. I vaulted the ceiling and added many windows and skylights.
