Current knitting project, a turtleneck jumper from the 1958 edition of Botany College Hand Knits. It's got quite a simple cable pattern with little 'popcorn' bobbles, and I've done it in a cream acrylic/wool mix yarn. I've shortened the torso slightly so the waistband sits on my waist, and because I'm a terrible person I forgot to do a tension square - so I'm constantly measuring as I go and hoping that it turns out the right width.... Two 'new' vintage patterns to add to my collection. Simplicity 4159, blouse and overblouses from 1952 with set in sleeves and a polo-shirt style collar; and Advance 5743, three piece skirt suit with a pleated skirt, jacket, and - quote - 'weskit'. Unfortunately the Advance pattern isn't dated, but from the style and silhouette I would guess late 40s. I was lucky enough to get them both in a close enough size to my own that I won't have too many adjustments to make - I always always go by measurements instead of printed dress size because as you can see, the size 14 blouse pattern has a 32 bust which would fit a modern 8. If you're buying vintage patterns or clothes, make sure you know the measurements, people! Dress sizes have changed a lot over the last century. Also notice the unusual size of the Advance pattern - I don't think I've ever seen odd-numbered sized clothes before?
