Hello! I didn't want to do an ooc intro but it felt kinda appropriate to.
My name is Moxxie, I'm the admi, writer and artist of this blog! I made it to cope with my exam stress + get my writing and ideas out to the world in an interactive way.
Poe, within this blog, goes by they/them.
There will be a myriad of headcanons and ocs introduced which is why this is presented as an au, though for the most part it does follow canon.
Poe does not serve as a reflection of what I, Moxxie, think or feel. I simply aim to entertain and tell a compelling story.
Asks that won't be answered
1. Anything explicitly sexual in nature. I don't believe for a second that these experiments could properly mentally age considering the conditioning and dehumanisation. So Poe is still a child.
2. Any asks that include summoning items/characters, such as summoning a gun or making Huggy Wuggy spawn in. I know in other ask blogs anons can do wacky shit but I don't really wanna do that sorry </3
3. Asks that are too similar to one another. If this happens I just pick the one I feel like is worded in a way where Poe can say more in response.
If something isn't listed, just assume it's okay. Or use common sense
"I don't understand what you all want from me. I'm trying my best. I answer you the best I can. But you all treat me like a ticking time bomb. Am I insane for talking to you all? Do you want me to stop responding?"
"Is it...the 'voices' you keep mentioning...?"
"Silverbell, am I making you uncomfortable? Or creeping you out? Or do you think I'm insane?"
"Not the word I would use, no, and no."
"What is the word you would use?"
"Concerned. Worried, maybe. You've been acting...different. Not bad, but...different. Which makes sense, I guess."
"Would you describe me as erratic?"
"Right now I would describe you as...reactive. Idealistic, maybe? No, probably not. I think you just need to eat and sleep properly."
"...I think you're just being nice."
"...Maybe."
"Please be honest with me. You've never lied to me before so don't start now."
"...Well, I didn't love sewing half of someone's face to yours if I'm being entirely honest."
"Camera? We're beyond cameras. This communication we have is personal. Divine. I'm your eyes to this world. You're my eyes to the truth. How poetic that we need each other in this way."
So Simon cannot hear us? And how come you can hear us, you don’t have the camera anymore…
"We have a special bond, you and I. Or shall I say...all of you, and I. Of course he can't hear! He doesn't know you like I do. He hasn't been through everything we've been through together. Isn't it wonderful and beautifully absurd how we are tethered to each other in this way?"
"Our plan? Our plan. Our plan our plan our plan..."
"We'll find you something to eat-"
"We shall find us something to eat."
"-and then we'll find shelter, or at least somewhere to rest for a bit before finding somewhere more permanent."
"...What are the chances that our old hideout is still somewhat intact, do you think?"
"Not very high I wouldn't think."
"I reckon it would still be worth it to try and relocate it, even just to raid it of any remaining resources before we settle elsewhere."
"Maybe we could steal some stuff from Safe Haven too. They wouldn't mind, right? They have plenty of shit to go around."
"That brutish piece of dough would rip us to shreds. I don't think he'll have forgiven us; you know how he is. I believe it's all water under the bridge, but he's one to hold a grudge."
"Do we have...anyone on our side here???"
"The voices can help. They were the ones who questioned me on what our plan was, afterall. They know a lot about our current situation."
You two leave before it's too late. The place will start crumbling soon, and the person from before will be taking the elevator to go back to the upper floors. Once they do that, by the time you to try to get the elevator to come back down, the whole place will be collapsed
"Silverbell?"
"Mm?"
"They're saying that we need to escape this place quickly. Or we die. And they told me the future, such as the doctor dying, and so I trust them on this."
"...Who...?"
"The...The...voices, I suppose. Yes. That's what I shall call them."
"...We need to get you something to eat. Or drink. Or anything. Have you slept recently? How much gas did you inhale?"
"...Alas. He doesn't believe me. We should make haste regardless; I detest this place."
How are you going to break him out? You're too weak to break the glass and Baba might return soon. The only one who can break Simon out is himself.
I hope you guys are okay with an entirely written response as it's been a hot minute since I wrote something that wasn't a script or poem.
Also I hope you're okay with me not looking back at ch4 footage to figure out the layout of the place because I really don't care about how the canon story is. Playtime Co has a prison and a biodiversity lab and a whole garden and a ludicrous amount of caves so I'm sure you can stretch your belief just for me :)
Warning for mentions of vomit and technically medical gore??? Idk its like. Stitching.
"Ba...ba might re...turn...?" Poe scoffed, pulling themself towards the peculiar contraption holding Simon hostage. "She's...dead, my friend." As they spoke they grabbed on to one of the various pieces of the machine, using it as a handle to hoist themself up, albeit with great difficulty. They peered into the glass to have a proper look at Simon. He stared back at them with distant, half-lidded eyes.
"...wh...who..are...t....ta...lking to...?" The dragon weakly mumbled, receiving no response aside from gentle shushing.
Poe put their wing against the glass as, for the first time in a year or so, a gentle smile crossed their mangled face. Trembling, Simon weakly outstretched his own hand, placing it where Poe's wing was. It was the closest they had been for a while.
Clearing their throat in an attempt to gain any confidence or volume, Poe carefully said, "I need you to press yourself as far back as possible, my dear." They raised their bloody and terrifyingly sharp pendant, as though to prove a point. That point was clearly proven as Simon shuffled uncomfortably away from the side Poe was on.
The first strike was a weak one. It hardly made a noise as the point of the lightning made contact with the container. The second strike wasn't much better as Poe furrowed their remaining eyebrow in frustration. Frustration at themself. Frustration at the situation. Frustration at that so-called 'angel' for not helping Simon out.
The third strike had more power. This one still didn't shatter the glass, but it was better than before. Poe's gaze shifted from where they had hit to Simon's miserable face, discovering he was looking at them as opposed to where they were striking. They saw the worry that was woven within the exhaustion.
"I'm fine, before you ask," they quietly assured him as they looked back to their pendant. The pendant that so easily took the life of Baba but couldn't seem to shatter the glass. Ironic, maybe; they're only good at hurting people.
The fourth strike did nothing.
They couldn't save the Smiling Critters.
The fifth strike did nothing.
They couldn't save Icky.
The sixth strike caused some cracks in the glass.
They couldn't save Allister.
The next strike allowed the pendant to pierce through the glass, but not break it entirely.
They couldn't-
"I'll...I'll get it...ffffrom here," Simon mumbled, pulling Poe from their thoughts.
They retracted the pendant and put it back around their neck. The red smoke that had been building up in the container came rushing out of the hole they had created, hitting Poe with the stench of lavender as it did. The affects struck the raven immediately as they fell back and off of the machine, more lethargic than they had been moments prior. Either Simon had built up a resistance and that's why he was still councious despite the concentration of the smoke, or the effort to make a hole in the glass had already bested Poe.
From their view on the floor they saw Simon press his hands against the weakened glass, pushing on it. Before long he went tumbling through a bigger hole as the glass shattered further. He limply landed next to Poe, wheezing in an attempt to get some clean air.
Turning onto his side he looked at them, outstretching a hand. Their eye gently shut as he gently caressed the side of their face.
"...hey," he smiled.
"Hey," they weakly responded, discarding their desire for prim and proper word choice. They shakily outstretched their wing to mimic what Simon was doing to them. "...you look awful."
He let out a watery laugh. "Likewise."
The two got closer and, for what felt like the first time in eternity, embraced one another. Albeit weakly. Albeit with much less energy than either of them wanted. But they embraced each other and that was enough.
"What...happened to...to your...?"
"Baba. She's...she's not here anymore. I'm sorry. I panicked again. I tried not to, but...I just...I didn't want to die."
"We need to...to get n...eedle and thread...you're b...bleeding.
Poe let out a heavy sigh. "Neither of us are in condition to do...anything. Oh- Oh goodness- Simon, I'm so sorry- Touille, he-"
Simon put his hand to their mouth.
"Let me... let me deal with you first. P...please. It's the lea...st I owe you.
Without another word the dragon sat up, arms moving to hold Poe bridal style. He was careful to try and not anger the wounds lacing their lower legs as he, with great effort, stood.
"You're...horribly light."
With a grunt as a replacement for a response, Poe averted their eyes to avoid seeing Simon's expression. He stumbled around with them in his arms, heavy eyes scanning the area for...anything, really.
Eventually they landed on a door to another room. Shambling over to the door he had to gently lay Poe down as he stood and stretched as tall as he could to reach the handle. Upon successfully opening the door he wasted no time going in to raid the room of whatever it could have, leaving the raven to stare at the four cages they had grown sick of.
One was empty. One contained a mountain of deceased mini-critters. One contained the body of Touille, once so full of life. He was curled up, head in a puddle of his reddish vomit. His eyes were wide. He didn't go as peacefully as Poe thought he did. The final cage contained two bodies; Maggie and Baba.
Poe looked away.
They looked up towards the flickering lights of the room. Thinking.
That phrase they had heard in their shock-induced slumber echoed in their memory.
'Live before you die.'
Whatever could such a phrase mean? Perhaps if they had their wits about them they could decipher it, but as it stood they couldn't
Live before you die.
But aside from that, a name stuck out to them from the darkest corner of their mind.
Blackthorne.
They liked it. It was gothic. It was dangerous. It was exactly up their alley.
Blackthorne.
Poe Blackthorne.
Perhaps a nickname from a friend that they'd long since lost. It couldn't be from Simon, afterall. They knew what he called them.
"Storms," he greeted, kneeling next to them. He held needle, thread and bandages. Along with that, a single crutch.
"Do what you must. I trust you more than I trust myself."
"It'll be a...a hack job com...pared to what C...Crossbones could do. Just...Just letting you know."
The second the needle pierced their leg they let out a yelp, making Simon flinch and wince. Their wing flew to cover their mouth as they nodded to him; a sign for him to continue. The stitching was slow. Agonising. But it kept a steady rhythm.
Up. Down. Up. Down. Up. Down.
They repeated it in their head, allowing them to brace themself for the pin-prick pain.
Up. Down. Up. Down. Up. Down.
It would be a while, no doubt. But they'd adjust to this new pain, no doubt.
Up. Down. Up. Down. Up. Down.
"You're not doing terrible at all," Poe remarked, sharply inhaling at the stitching for the wound being pulled taut and double-stitched at the end.
"He...he taught me a lot. Joked...joked about me...stitching him up and...and taking his role...I wish I...could of...at least once...helped him."
The two went silent. Allister was nowhere near that of a first-aider, but his mild enjoyment of crocheting definitely helped when they all got injured. He'd already had experience with needle and thread, afterall.
The silence remained as Poe's left leg was stitched up. A long process. A necessary one. Bandages were carefully wrapped around where the stitching was as Simon moved onto the right leg to begin the process again.
Up. Down. Up. Down. Up. Down.
"...Smokey?"
Up. Down. Up. Down. Up. Down.
"Hm?"
Up. Down. Up. Pull. Down. Up. Down. Up.
"Could you, perchance, call me Blackthorne once in a while? The name has cropped up in my mind, though I'm unsure of where and when it's from."
Up. Down. Up. Down. Up. Down.
"Only...if you do the same for me...with...with...Silverbell."
Up. Down. Up. Pull. Down. Up. Down. Up.
"Of course."
"Thank you...Blackthorne."
"Any time, Silverbell."
Silence once again. Less heavy than the last. It felt like this leg went quicker than the last. Simon gently took Poe by the shoulders, pulling them to sit upright. His hands then moved to their left wing, tilting it slightly as his gaze hardened to one particular area. Their eyes followed his.
The bite. The bite from Baba.
"It's..."
Their free wing moved to caress the side of Simon's face once more in a miserable attempt at comfort.
"It's...I'm...I'll be...fine. I promise."
They moved, pressing their forehead against his.
"If they made something like...like what she has, then...they have to have an antidote somewhere."
They moved back, now looking at Simon's expression. It was unreadable as he moved to bandage the wound.
"It would be...illogical not to, wouldn't it?"
"Wouldn't it?"
Their wing moved. They wiped the tears now welling in Simon's eyes as he covered the bite with the yellowed bandages, now retracting from them.
"It would. We'll get through it. We always do. Somehow. That's why we're here despite everything. Despite everything we're still here. Please don't weep. I hate to see you upset. You should be smiling. We're together again. After all this time, we're truly together again. Isn't that wonderful?"
"...I'm...scared."
"Why, my dear? There's nothing to fear; it's just us here."
They painfully moved and held Simon in another embrace. They couldn't help themself. They missed him more than words could ever convey.
"I...I can't...lose....you......again..."
"You won't...Ah."
Poe let go, moving back.
"Deepest apologies, I was...worried to get blood on you." They gestured to the missing side of their face. "I...am unsure where it is. On one hand, I know somewhere we can get fabric to replace it. On the other hand..."
Painfully, slowly, they drag themself along the concrete floor, leaving a trail of crimson behind. Leaving the half eaten body of Maggie behind. Leaving the still warm body of Baba behind.
Out the now opened cage gate. Out of what they had called a home for the last year or two.
Painfully, slowly, to the other room.
They all said Simon would be in here, hadn't they? With any luck he could be...
DONT WORRY IM NOT NEGLECTING THIS!!! It's just gonna be busy the next few days so unfortunately posts will slow down. Sorry that's happening at a time where the stakes are high. At least Poe has their happy memories to reflect on to calm themselves down!
Oh? What's that, Poe? The past depresses you too much? Aw man
