Talk to me

It was a thought that plagued him for a while, since he’d met the girl who felt so familiar. He had convinced himself she couldn’t who he thought she was, but when she had caught him staring again, he blurted it out. “I have something to tell you.”
It was out there now, so he might as well. “You look–I don’t know, like I always imagined my sister, Jen, would have at your age, and with your name being the same…anyway, it’s weird, right?” He laughed it off, hoping she would to because he liked being around her. It almost made him feel like his other sister was still alive and that horrible night never happened. Almost.

Another day, another big bad problem. He really didn’t know why Bonnie had put up with this ‘you have to help us because you’re a witch’ bullshit for years, yet he always seemed to follow Liv right into the same situation. For teenagers, they were already master manipulators.
As Tyler turned to leave him to his part of the plan, Luke hollered, “whoa, whoa, whoa,” grabbing the hybrid’s arm. “Don’t leave me.” If he was putting his neck out for these people, then they at least owed him some protection of that neck. “A super strong bodyguard while I do this would be nice, alright?”

He had come by to grab Liv for lunch but realized quickly he was about to interrupt the not-so-study session. As he hadn’t been spotted, he was slipping back toward the table by the door when he heard it.
So when Bonnie passed first, he muttered what she’d said to his sister, “if I tried to kiss you right now, what would you do?” Standing back up to catch Liv, Luke had to give her wannabe girlfriend a hard time while he waited. “Well, that was lame.”

He supposed they had dismissed everything as bygones. This all fell under the strange case of Mystic Falls: you tried to kill us, we tried to kill you, let’s call it a draw. Still, he hadn’t exactly forgotten the incident where Liv’s hand was forced by an overzealous bitch with a Stefan fetish.
As yet another favor came their way regarding some guy they had to persuade information from, he couldn’t stop the sarcastic comment coming as Caroline became more irritated.
“I’m going to kill you. Do you have any last words?” He said, his tone feigning helpfulness, “a good threat works as well as physical violence. Just so you know.”

Staring at Luke, Bonnie had no idea how it was possible. He had died in the merge after losing out to Kai. She could remember how much his death had devastated Liv and how helpless she felt in her attempt to comfort her girlfriend. A million questions were running through her mind, mainly how he could possibly be alive, but now was not the time nor place. “You don’t know?” When he spoke to her, she realized that he had no idea what had happened with the coven and she was gonna have to be the one to tell him. She had no idea where to begin.
Swallowing a lump in her throat, she opens her mouth to answer and then hesitates. Bonnie was at a loss for words on how to break it to him. There was no easy way to say it, he would be devastated no matter how carefully she chose her words. “Kai… he got out..,” she croaks out, struggling to find the words as well it keep it together herself. “I really wish I could tell you she’s at the library but… she’s gone, Luke. They’re all gone.”
It was like it was all in slow motion, like some bad dream. He shouldn’t be alive, and she should be. What Bonnie was saying didn’t make any sense, and denial wafted over an inexplicable grief. The moment he returned, there had been a part of him that knew. All the world felt empty, colder, less vibrant than before, he couldn’t feel Liv anymore. Why would they do this? Why would the spirits allow him to return to a new life but without her? They couldn’t be that cruel.
“You were supposed to stop him,” he said, the first words he could come up with were simply ones of blame. Bonnie was supposed to protect her after he was gone, and she didn’t. Everything he knew was ripped apart, his family, his coven, all gone. No doubt their group remained relatively unscathed. Everyone else always lost everything, they protected their own. Liv was supposed to be part of that, but no, she had been a fool, they both had. They were just collateral damage. “How can everyone just be gone...and you’re still standing.” He knew Bonnie felt crushed enough, but his only thoughts were you didn’t do enough for her. His sister was dead...his sister was dead. That feeling of hollowness would never go away.
All we wanted to do was see the men become beasts, that’s it. Then we’d come back.
—–It was a blur, but everything just went wrong.

There was seemingly no end to the tragedy in this town. It was one senseless death after another and this time, Bonnie felt as if she might never recover. Standing in the doorway of her girlfriend’s dorm room, she could hardly stand to believe that Liv was gone. That despite being dead, Kai had still won in the end. It all felt so unreal, and at the same time, she knew that it wasn’t. This was her new reality, a life without Liv.
Slowly stepping into the room, she feels an ache rise in her chest as she looks around at all her old belongings. The dorm was exactly as Liv had left it; books strewn across the bed, clothes on the floor, pictures, herbs, half-burned candles. No one was coming to claim her belongings, she realized. There was no one left in the Parker family to claim them, so she would just have to claim them herself. Swallowing the emotion in her throat, she approaches the bed and starts gathering up the books into a neat pile.
Setting aside the stack of books when she finished, a picture by the bedside soon catches her attention. Bonnie picks up the frame and sinks down onto the bed as the earlier ache returns. It was a picture of them from one of the dances she had dragged her to. Liv had never really been too keen on them, but she recalled them both having a great time at this one. Approaching footsteps soon interrupt memory lane and Bonnie looks up from the photograph, her eyes widening slightly in surprise. For a moment, she wondered if she was starting to finally lose it but even when she blinked, his figure didn’t disappear. “—Luke?”
That’s the thing about sacrifice, witches tended to overlook a few rules to honor one. He took a chance on a loophole, a merge that was never supposed to be made: the ultimate sacrifice to save his sisters. Upon his psychopath of a brother’s death, he found himself with a second chance. However, this was all a bit unclear at first, coming back to life was not an easy thing to get used to.
The only place he wanted to be was his sister’s dorm room, knowing she had suffered the most in his absence and probably had a lecture or two she’d been saving for him. He could almost hear her voice as he approached, ready to surprise her.
“You aren’t--” he hesitated, that look in her eyes was familiar. He’d seen it before, and there was no way the spirits let him come all the way back for this. If Kai was dead, they had to have found a way to save the coven. After all they had done for these people, they owed them that much. “Where’s Liv?” He asked, wanting more than anything to be wrong as desperation clung to his voice. “Bonnie, I need you to tell me my sister’s just down the hall or in the library or something.”

If he could only go back, have one more day with her. Given the choice to do it over, he wouldn’t change anything. Facing Kai himself gave Jo and Liv a chance to live, even if he didn’t. The worst of it was saying goodbye to his twin, suffering a single soul ripped in half. They were destined to be one person, and he had taken that from her in fear. Part of him would reside in a psychopath, but maybe he had done something, maybe they had an advantage. If he caused a single hesitation in Kai, they could win.
Sobs wracking her body, he knew he could no longer bring her any comfort. “I’m sorry, Liv,” he offered, words unheard, “you’d have beaten me anyway, you know that.” He knew Bonnie would take care of her now, help her rebuild a life without a twin. “Don’t worry…I’ll beat him from the inside.” It was the only true way he could save his sister now, hoping that whatever Kai absorbed would bring his own downfall. He couldn’t touch her, couldn’t dry any tears anymore. It felt unnatural to be so close and so far apart. Born together and dying alone.
Saying goodbye wasn’t an option. “I love you,” Luke murmured to her instead, “and I’ll see you…someday.”

If season 4 of TO was only Klaus reciting poems, I’d tune in, okay?
John Paul: Now all I can think about is what if you hadn’t walked into class that day? Because ever since then its just been a disaster! Okay, I probably still wouldn’t be with Hannah, what with her being a girl and everything, but, Craig you have no idea how much you’ve hurt me. So I just wanted to say to you, before you walk out of my life forever…..that I wouldn’t have missed any of it for the world. Craig: What? John Paul: I don’t know how we keep finding ourselves here, I really don’t, all I know is, I love you.
