‘Thank you so much for inviting us into your home.’ Feyre said, to Kalias the High Lord of the Winter Court, and Viviane the High Lady of the winter court.
‘It is our pleasure.’ replied Viviane. Her snow white hair was swept into a loose bun at the bottom of her head, and a soft pink was painted onto her lips making her even more beautiful. Behind her, hidden behind her legs was a little boy. He had his mother's curved nose, his father's hair that just touched the tip of his young shoulders, but his eyes were his own. Where both his mother and his father had a frozen-sky blue coloured eyes, their son had a deep-sea blue. Feyre thought Viviane and Kallias first-born son was the most adorable thing she had ever seen. She slowly crouched down, so she was at his eye level and offered him a smile.
‘Hello, you must be ‘Bodhi.’ the little boy hid behind her mother's legs even further, Viviane tutted in a friendly way, ‘Honestly he’s not usually this shy.’ she laughed.
‘It’s okay. I’m Feyre, and that big scary man, who isn’t helping by just standing there!’ the last bit directed at Rhysand, who stood tall smiling at Bodhi. Rhysand found himself being reminded of his own son who was behind Rhysands legs now.
‘Is my mate, Rhysand. That’s my daughter Citalá’ who waved at him. She had recently turned 9, and was becoming her own person in front of Feyre and Rhysand, learning and controlling her magic, the town adored her. ‘And, my son Dante‘
Feyre and Rhysand’s son was a mini-replica of his father, stood behind Rhysands legs he barely reached his knees but he stood as tall as he could. His tiny wings spread behind him. Rhysand gently stroked his son's hair encouraging him to come out.
Feyre, who was still crouched on the floor, had managed to catch Bodhi’s attention as she had formed a tiny elephant made out of water. Bodhi was crouched next to the water-elephant running his small fingers over its spine.
Kallias only laughed when seeing the elephant; ‘Tarquins power.’
Feyre only smiled smugly before the elephant became more solid as it slowly went from water to ice. ‘And yours.’ She replied.
Both Viviane and Kallias laughed, but Viviane seeing what Feyre had done had decided to do the same, and he slowly crouched down onto his knees.
‘I wouldn’t do that!’ Rhysand shouted, and when everyone turned to look at him, he looked a little embarrassed as he continued with, ‘You won’t be able to get up again.’ Now only Feyre and her daughter laughed, but the others looked like they understood.
‘Are you ready, Dante?’ Kallias asked, and he began to slowly circle his hands as a small cloud of snow began to appear between them. As soon as it had come it had vanished and left in Kallias’ hand was a tiny snowflake.
‘Well done!’ Rhysand laughed, even Dante looked a little disappointed.
‘Okay, I’m going to need some help. When I count down I need you to blow on the snowflake as hard as you can. Can you do that? Do you need Daddys help?’ Kallias grinned at Rhysand as his son pulled at his trousers shouting, ‘help me daddy! Help me!’
Grumbling Rhysand sank to his knees next to his son, and after they had both blown into the snowflake they sat back as it grew, and grew until it was approximately the size of Dante’s head. He looked wonderfully delighted as he carefully picked it up and admired it.
Both of the young boys admired their treasures, before they noticed each other. The exact opposite of each other. Dante with pure black hair that was a messy mop on the top of his head, (Feyre had tried to neaten it up), tanned skin, and his green eyes. Whereas Bodhi had snow white hair, that was neatly touching the tips of his shoulders, pale skin and blue eyes.
‘Bodhi, why don’t you show Dante and Citalá your room?’ Viviane asked. Bodhi was hesitant, before he slowly walked out of the room Dante and Citalá followed behind. No one missed Dante slipping his hand into Citalá’s.
Inside Bodhi's room was a single bed in the middle of the room, with neat sheets laid over it covered in white and blue snowflakes, a large window was on the left wall when entering the room with a view of the city below them. Toys scattered about in the room, a small collection of books on a shelf, and on the over end of the room was a small sofa which Citalá took a seat on.
Bodhi was the first to speak, ‘Why don’t you have wings Citla?’ he tried helplessly to pronounce her name, in the end it became her nickname from Bodhi.
‘I do, I’m like my mother. I don’t always have them on show, like some people.’ She ruffled Dantes hair while he tried to shake her off, embarrassed at her affection.
‘Can you fly?’ Bodhi asked Dante.
‘Yeah!’ His face scrunched up in concentration as he flapped his wings as hard as he could, he slowly lifted off the floor and hovered a foot above the floor before he fell back on his feet. He looked very proud, Bodhi looked amazed, he could not stop staring at the wings in admirement. Bodhi reached out a hand as if to touch the wings, but Dante quickly took a step back, ‘I don’t like people touching my wings…’ he said quietly.
But Bodhi didn’t look upset, but continued to admire the wings before he started grabbing toys to show Dante.
A handful of hours later, the three children left Bodhi’s room, Bodhi and Dante whispering to each other, ‘No, you ask’, ‘Why can't you?’ until eventually Dante walked up to his mother and gently tugged at the end of her dress. She ducked down so Dante could whisper in her ear, ‘Can I sleep over with Bodhi?’
She smiled softly and simply whispered back, ‘You need to ask his mother.’
Dante looked startled for a minute, before he asked permission to have a sleepover. Viviane was simply delighted. She would love to have a household full of children, but being fae made it hard to conceive. She envied Feyre for having 2 children.
Bodhi and Dante both ran off to Bodhi’s room, before Feyre shouted, ‘Excuse you, aren’t you missing something?’
Dante simply spun round, waved goodbye excitedly, before continuing to run.
