Is Chanel... Boring?

Chanel Pre-Fall 2026 has 81 looks, but at what cost?

Generally, high fashion shows range from 30 to 60 looks, with different themes throughout. Chanel Pre-Fall 2026 had 81 looks in total, with sequin gowns and fur coats, classic tweed sets, black gowns and moto jackets, and silk slips with color-matched cardigans.

The Chanel Métiers d’art show was put together by Matthieu Blazy, a French-Belgian designer who has worked with other high-fashion brands like Raf Simmons and Maison Martin Margiela. Blazy is now the creative director at Chanel, with pre-fall 2026 as his second show. According to Nicole Phelps at Vogue, "His first, presented exactly two months ago in Paris, was universally embraced as the debut of the year, no small feat considering there were more than a dozen others."

Although I liked more looks than I disliked, several seemed “casual” to the point of teetering on boring. With Canadian tuxedo-style denim sets and white tees paired with jeans, they're great looks, but frankly, I was bored out of my mind. Do casual looks belong on the runway?

The Girl Next Door: Miranda Kerr

The girl with the dimples that rocked the world.

From country girl to city girl, Miranda Kerr became the first Australian Victoria's Secret angel, founded KORA Organics, and designed collections with brands like Mother Denim and Swarovski. According to MirandaKerr.com, “her introduction into the world of fashion came unexpectedly in 1997, when at age 13, a friend entered her into a modeling competition. Miranda subsequently won, which sparked significant media attention, and she soon became the most sought-after new face in Australia.” With looks that kill, Miranda’s kindness and generosity are definitely the most captivating things about her. Kerr has been a considerable donor to many Australian charities, including those that aid those affected by the 2020 Australian wildfires. “Miranda is a dedicated supporter of numerous causes relating to women, children, health, and the environment” (Miranda Kerr official website: About Miranda Kerr). The coolest girl in the world with the dimples that rocked the world: Miranda Kerr is the girl next door who makes everyone ask themselves: Do I want to be her or be with her?

What’s “In” for Winter?

Fringe and Fur

We saw a short preview of fringe in the summer, on bags and boots, but fall and winter call for fringe jackets and pants. Call it Cowboy Carter or Boho Chic; fringe (on everything) is major this year. Roberto Cavalli Pre-Fall 2026 mixed rock-chic fringe tops, skirts, pants, with fur coats, skirts, and sweaters.

Fur coats feel like an espresso martini (with Bailey’s) in a jazz bar; a Carrie Bradshaw-approved piece to throw on over a silk slip dress, tights, and Christian Louboutin heels. Alberta Ferretti Pre-Fall 2026 is exactly that: sequins, fur, and silk.

Blazers

Call it a 2010s Tumblr revival or call it corporate, casual blazers are back. Missoni Pre-Fall 2026 was full of patterned blazers paired with matching pants, sweaters, and collared shirts. Victoria Beckham Pre-Fall 2026 paired blazers with just about everything: midi dresses, pant sets, and silk tops.

Ruffles

Alberta Ferretti gives a Chloé-esque vibe to their Pre-Fall 2026 collection, pushing ruffles and lighter fabrics for winter layering. Evening gowns and ruffled overcoats further pushed their boho-chic agenda.

The outfits are positively fabulous, the events: black tie, and the gossip? Piping hot.

The City (2008) stars Olivia Palermo, who inspired Blair Waldorf’s character in Gossip Girl (2007), and Whitney Port, who also starred in The Hills (2006). The show centers on Whitney's move to New York City and follows her as she takes on a new position at Diane von Furstenberg, working alongside Olivia Palermo. Full of high fashion and plenty of relationship drama, The City (2008) is the show to binge for the high fashion lover. The City (2008) is highly inspiring for those with dreams of working in the fashion industry, living in Manhattan, or owning Olivia Palermo’s closet.

Why a "Dupe" Really Is That Deep

What does it mean to support a company that rips off independent designers, and is it morally acceptable?

A “dupe”, or duplicate, is a replication of a pricier, more intricate design. Whether it's a bag, a dress, or a shoe, a “dupe” is a direct copy of the original design. Your first thought might be Shein or AliExpress, but other companies that produce "dupes" include Urban Outfitters, Oh Polly, and House of CB. These replicas of the designs are cheaper, both in terms of price and quality, due to the use of cheap labor and cheap materials. A frequent victim of "duping" is Mirror Palais, founded by Marcelo Gaia in 2019. In a video posted by @MirrorPalais on TikTok in 2023, Gaia explains, “Shein’s entire business is built on social media; seeing small designers whose designs do really well online, making them for less, and selling them to you.” Many of Mirror Palais' pieces are 100% silk and handmade to order. Similarly, ARE YOU AM I, founded by Rumi Neely, is famous for their 100% silk slip dress and best-selling Sunniva Corset. ARE YOU AM I’s Sunniva Corset ($325) was copied by Leau Clothing and priced at $110. When a design is “duped”, not only is there a significant gap in quality, but it is also massively dishonorable and unethical for the brand to copy another designer’s work. What matters more to you: price or quality?

Bandage is back; is it better than ever?

Rihanna, Miranda Kerr, Cindy Crawford, and other countless celebrities have sported Hervé Léger dresses on red carpets and on nights out. Since its founding in 1985 by designer Hervé Peugnet, Hervé Léger has become infamous for "The Bandage Dress" and other "bandage" style pieces. House of CB, founded in 2010 by Conna Walker, has, in celebration of its 15th anniversary, released a collection of bandage dresses, although not in an official partnership with Hervé Léger. Is it an homage, a revival, or a rip-off?
