Yet another addition to the Sangang Pokedex. This time it’s an Eeveelution.

Irideon is a Normal-type Eeveelution based loosely on the Qilin (emphasis on loosely) while incorporating bits and pieces of other Eeveelutions. Its transclulent coat bends light; it uses the energy created by this light to fight off enemies. With the abilities Adaptability and Protean, as well as a versatile movepool and evenly distributed stats, this Pokemon is a force to be reckoned with in battle.

Finally, an evolution for one of my fakemons! Here’s Magrit, the evolved form of Charachirp. Like its pre-evolution, it is a Normal/Flying-type with Determined as an ability whose design and concept takes inspiration from both an Undertale character (Charachirp’s namesake) and a Korean proverb (”the magpie who mimics the stork’s flight rips its wings”).

Here’s Charachirp, the regional bird Pokemon. It is a Normal/Flying-type Pokemon with a custom ability called Determined, which boosts the user’s lowest stat when its HP is low. Its name and design are references to Undertale (because what better thing to personify determination with?). It also takes inspiration from the Korean proverb, ”the tit trying to match the stork will have its legs split” (Korean: 뱁새가 황새 따라가다 가랑이 찢어진다), which warns against the dangers of overachieving.

Here’s an updated version of Charachirp! I personally prefer this version because of how much more streamlined the design is, though it looks more like Frisk than it does its namesake.

A much-needed update for the Grass-type starter, Hopplant. Not really too much of an upgrade, but still looks better than the previous version.

Pokemon: Garmeva

"The silk expelled from Garmeva's mouth can be woven into a velvety fabric that is prized by many. It feeds voraciously on Lum Berries to create these fibers." Name: Garmeva Type: Bug Classification: Silkworm Ability: Shield Dust/Plush Body(halves damage taken by physical attacks but cuts user's attack) Based on a silkworm (though it doesn't really look like one) with some aspects of a plush doll mixed in. Also takes inspiration from a homemade worm doll from my childhood. Name comes from "garment", "larva", and "weaver"(though the last one is a bit hard to pick out).

It’s been a while since the last post. I should be posting these more regularly, especially because most of them are already finished.

“Mirmei are capable of cleansing their surroundings of pollution using the fluid in their shells. They can only be found in clean waters.” Name: Mirmei Type: Water Classification: River Snail Ability: Torrent (HA Storm Drain?) A Water-type starter Pokemon based on the Snail Bride(우렁각시) of Korean lore and Korean pottery. Its name is a mutation of the word “mermaid” with “mir" (swamp) added in. I initially drew it as a single-stage Water/Ground-type Pokemon, but some friends took a liking to the design and suggested that it be made a starter.

It learns a move called Wash, a Water-type move that removes status conditions and stat changes from the target.

"These bear Pokemon can be found in caves located near bamboo groves. Cubs are hard to find as the adults tend to live in celibacy." Name: Incinda Type: Fire Classification: Panda Ability: Blaze (HA Analytic? Inner Focus? Some new zen ability? Idk so many options) A fire panda starter Pokemon. Unlike the other two starters, this guy was intended as a starter from the beginning. I came up with this Mon a few years before Pancham/Pangoro were revealed, which explains the overlap in inspirations. I also seem to have a bad grasp on panda anatomy, because it doesn't really look like a panda cub. Still, I thought it looked adorable, which is why I kept the design.

Name comes from "incinerate" and "panda". Pretty straightforward.

"These elusive Pokemon are said to be a sign of good luck to those who see them." Name: Hoplant Type: Grass Classification: Shrub Hare Ability: Overgrow (HA Super Luck. Maybe.) The Grass-type starter of the Sangang region. A rabbit Pokemon with elements of the four-leaf clover mixed in (you know what they say about clovers and rabbit feet). I initially intended it to be a single-stage Grass/Fairy-type as the regional Pikachu knockoff, but decided that it deserved better. Its name is a combination of "hop" and "plant".

Howdy, stranger.

This is the page for Pokemon: Directions, a Fakemon project I’ve been working on for a few years. The story has gone through many iterations, but I feel that I’ve finally found the one that seems worth telling. 

Directions takes place in the Sangang region, a place based on the Korean Peninsula. Dominick and Bridget, two students of the prestigious Trainers’ Academy, are selected by the League to partake in a challenge to prove their skills. They soon discover that bigger forces are behind their trial.

Given that I don’t get lazy, I’ll be posting Fakemon entries, bios, and other descriptions on the world of Directions on this page. Stay tuned for updates.
