That's it? Genesis had been expecting more questions about the angel phenomena, but it appears they were more curious about who he was. Considering he is a new hire, naturally they'd be curious. He laughed, shakily, unable to control the growing warmth in his chest.

"Oh, it is?"

He's tempted to ask how he performed in the interview, but he did not—they'd get back to him in seconds.

From what he was told—from Porter—, these people were understaffed. Every investigator was asked to handle multiple tasks out of their specialty. So they were desperate for new hires that believed in their cause.

New hires like Genesis.

And he hoped he fit the bill.

"You did splendidly, Genesis. We can see your drive to uncover phenomena is akin to that of a fire. Your determination, observance, and competence are proof of your resolve.

I will send your resume and your files to HR. We will get back to you in 15 minutes."

He doubts the associates truly like him for his ability.

now to actual questions; what's your favorite bird, can you explain to us your previous experiences with your premonitions, and what other qualifications do you have that are worth knowing for the job?

yes, the first question is important. i will not elaborate any further about it.

Genesis paused for longer than he should have. One... Two... maybe five seconds. He just... stared at the camera for a bit, thinking about what to say until he heard the interviewer speak again.

"Please answer the question, Genesis."

"A-Ah, forgive me. Many of my answers are slipping my mind..."

"My favorite bird... I'm quite fond of doves..." "And for my premonitions... I've had them very frequently as a child. Often, when the Father would ask me to 'communicate with God', I wouldn't get an answer... just vague dreams..." "... but sometimes I get them too, maybe even in the middle of the day. I don't need to sleep to experience them."

"Distressing indeed, have you managed them?"

"Not enough to count..."

Genesis fiddles with his sleeves. The memories of waking up with a freely bleeding nose was not a pleasant one to recall, his nose almost burst again just from thinking about it.

"And my qualities for this job... I'm capable on my own but can work just as well in a team. I'm flexible with my strategies and will change plans if I need to."

"My results are detailed and consistent, because of my eye for detail, I tend to look for holes in others' stories. This leads me to be a bit untrustworthy of other people but I believe it is a worthy price."

"Lastly, I am fairly empathetic. Because of this, I believe I will be more helpful when navigating more emotional interactions, which, of course, will make missions go more smoothly."

The interviewer continued to write and write. The noise of the pen was starting to scratch his ears. Sometimes he wished he couldn't hear, but this was enough.

Lost as he ever was. Genesis wanders into a new area, checking his compass every couple of seconds, his anxiety clear as day—he barely hid his sweaty palms at times.

He exhaled heavily, his shaky hands pocketing the compass as he hyped himself up.

"... hooooh... okay... I'm just... overreacting..."

He bumped into someone. He jolted like a cat getting jumpscared—by that, he almost scrambled away as he apologized profusely.

"GAAAAH—!! I'M SORRY I'M SORRY I DIDN'T MEAN TO—"

Angelica, keeping a brisk pace, hurriedly looks for a bathroom.

A few minutes ago, her nose exploded. By that, she means blood is pouring out of it like a faucet. Angelica has several tissues pressed up to her nostrils. The paper is a dark red. Her mouth tastes like blood.

She has her head tilted a little back, hoping it'll help. Eventually. It really feels like it's doing nothing. She needs a more private space to properly deal with it.

It's an embarrassing mess. For her.

Unable to properly see where she's going, she bumps into someone.

"Ah-"

Her annoyed expression turns into a smile (one of pity,) when the stranger immediately apologizes. "It's okay..." She tries to assure him.

How peculiar, a nosebleed. Worried, he hands her a handkerchief from his pocket, his only visible eye staring at her bloody nose.

"It's fine. I wasn't watching my surroundings. Are you okay, ma'am?"

He's curious about her appearance. She quite looks like a Saint, very much so with the hair. All angels share the same appearance, after all, they were modelled after their dearest God.

Angelica quickly switches out the tissues for the handkerchief.

"Yes, this um," she pauses, suddenly, trying to make her nose stop bleeding further. "happens..." she tries to continue to fill the empty space in their conversation, but quickly trails off to focus on breathing. "sometimes." Her mouth tastes like blood.

That gross feeling is always something she focuses on. In the past, jokingly, she thought how vampires can even stand swallowing blood. Angelica wouldn't make a good vampire.

How long has it been? She's stopped counting. Either way, she feels fine now. Carefully, cautiously—Angelica lowers her head. She almost sighs of relief when she doesn't feel a rush of blood run down her nose. She removes the handkerchief.

"Thank you, sir." Her voice—she hasn't completely moved on, has she? Back to acting, in an instant. Straight posture, perfect amount of cheerfulness, and politeness. It's natural. It's superficial, an obligation, a standard, required. Survival.

She's been staring at the stranger's clothes the entire time.

Her hair resembles his. Genesis could feel her eyes boring into him, checking the gold embellishments he had on. He looked tacky with all of that, that's for damn sure, but that was part of the uniform, wasn't it?

God, he looked so embarrassing.

Genesis fidgeted with his tie, and a laugh came out just a bit too unsteady.

"This happens often? Ooh, that's... unfortunate. Do you take medication for it, miss?"

He held out a hand for her to shake, or maybe to take the handkerchief back.

"Yes, I do." She lies. "Your outfit... what is your profession?" A question. One that presents her as curious, not cautious. Angelica already has an answer in mind, but it would be rude to assume.

She folds the hankerchief and places it in the stranger's hand, smiling.

She's making too many assumptions. His clothes, hair, just everything about him might not mean anything at all. He might not even be associated with them. This is what she hopes.

Questions. Yes, that's something he can do. Answer questions. That's easy.

"Ah, I work for the Pantheon of Saviors. I'm a uh... fairly new hire."

Her outfit seems to be that of a college student. Someone studying arts or business; but the two are interchangeable. Though he knows the association's name itself won't be enough to dispell curiosity, so he continued to elaborate calmly but cautiously.

After all, the Angel Phenomena may be a strange topic for others who aren't familiar.

"My company... studies strange phenomena around the world. Phenomena that are considered 'magical'."

His visible eye sparkled as he spoke. The more he continues to talk about things he liked the more his eye would glow, so he had to divert

"And you... must be a college student right? What's your major?"

Angelica's eyebrows furrow slightly. Pantheon of Saviors? She's never heard of an organization like that before... and they're investigating magic? Angelica wonders if they'll be able to help her. But she's cautious—it's a company. If she tells them about her situation... who knows how they'll react?

"Oh!" She's very happy about the topic change. "I major in art!" Angelica genuinely smiles this time. She really, really loves art and all its forms. "It has been a little hard on me, but I'm getting through it, y'know?" She's almost tempted to show him her art, but that's an embarrassment waiting to happen.

A part of Her is curious about the man in front of them. Angelica can feel the urge to ask a personal question bubbling up inside her, and she fights it—keeping her mouth shut. She fiddles with the strap of her bag.

"Art... an interesting major, I think it's an impressive feat to create something completely from imagination."

Genesis could see it, her hands fiddling with the strap of her bag. His eyebrows pinched together... did he come off stronger than intended? Had he intimidated her?

His eye could see how she averted her eyes, how she pursed her lips to keep shut. He wasn't going to press for details if she wasn't going to talk, but he wasn't going to leave without answers either.

"Do you... need help with anything, miss? I could be able to, if you talk to me."
