After reading the manga I like how more of a douche Kise sounds like in the dub, especially in that practice game whenever he's talking to Kagami... because he's a lot more of one in the manga, and the anime really did tone it down to make him more likeable, so in a way this stays more faithful to the source material. Then of course, I'm only three episodes in so I'm excited to see how Erik Kimerer continues to play Kise especially in the Kaijo v.s. Too game.
This is not to say I dislike Kimura Ryouhei's performance-not at all- I think for what the anime was, he was perfect for Kise (and I think all the japanese seiyuus, especially for all the Generation of Miracles, were literally perfect for their characters) and his performance will definitely be the one I take to heart the most when I think of the anime. But if I were to not compare others' performances, I'm enjoying the voice cast for Kise more than I thought I would, especially since he is my favourite.
