Our View Your View - Dublin, Ga
Today, the players have a two-show A Midsummer Night’s Dream day in Dublin, Ga. We are super excited!!!
Check out this short video of Caleb, our sound engineer for tour 67! He will tell you bit about one of one of his technical jobs and some of what he does during our load-ins. And in the background, you can hear what it sounds like for us to build the cage!
Yesterday we had a two show day performing A Tale of Two Cities. Caleb performs as Defarge and Jerry Cruncher in that show. He also functions as the stage manager of Julius Caesar, and (like all the other players) he drives the vehicles to every venue and teaches in workshops! Ohh the life of a National Player! :)
Fun Fact About Caleb: He just graduated from Boston University in May!
Our View - Your View: Newnan Georgia
We are performing A Tale of Two Cities twice today in Newnan, GA!!
Monthly Memories: December
December was a pretty short month for the players. We only had a week or so to work. Looking back, we all loved the surprise gift we received after a talk back with students from Mario Loiderman. They presented us with a bag full of letter grom students we’d done workshops with and Loiterman Drama T-shirts. It was pretty awesome and we were super grateful.
Uh oh! It looks like our Master Electrician, Beau, is being packed away in one of our road boxes by his assistant, Marion!

Happy Holidays!!
Well, it is official! The first leg of Tour 67 is done!! What??? Time flies! We have now all scattered to our homes across the country and are relaxing, enjoying family and relishing free time. But, the National Players Ladies wanted to wish you very Happy Holidays!! Spread love and joy as this year ends and a new one begins!
We performed our last show of the year today and closed our first leg of tour! "A TALE OF TWO CITIES" at the Paramount in Charlottesville, VA. Check out our very own James Sheahan preparing for his doubling roles of Sydney Carton & Charles Darnay! Happy Holidays everyone!
It's always a great choice to revisit the script!! (That's right. Sometimes we use No Fear Shakespeare too).
Monthly Memories: November
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we are starting a new tradition! Towards the end of each month we will post our favorite memory we've created with the company during each respective month. Here they are for November: Tina: Mine would have to be the fact that I now have two writing samples and a drawing thats students have given me after I've taught them in workshops. The opportunity to connect with students has been a huge highlight for me. Libby: I loved going to the West Wing. Rosie: Perforning "A Tale of Two Cities" a few days after the attacks in Paris, and having a beautiful and compelling talk-back that made me reflect and appreciate why we do what we do as performers. Andrew: The workshop was almost over and we had to get the class back into order -- desks were all moved around, and Libby asked the students to quickly and quietly move their desks back onto place, AND THEY DID. Usually that would be a time to go all crazy and talk, but they treated the moment with respect and moved quickly and quietly back ro their spots. I was floored and it was a very special moment. Marion: My favorite moment was the beautiful sunrise we witnessed while loading in at Baltimore City College. Brittney (Olney's Education Apprentice who works very closely with National Players): Seeing the different students from all over and from different backgrounds truly struck me as a powerful representation of what the National Players do all year. So many different agencies and distinctions, but for 90 minutes they were all in the theater together. Jason King Jones (Artistic Director of National Players): Talking with Baltimore City College seniors about Midsummer, directing, and communicatimg with your audience. Mostly we are eternally grateful for the opportunity to perform and work withe so many students and communities. We love the work we get to do!!
Just in case you’d like to know.
We had such a wonderful experience visiting the White House the other week.
Moments on the Road!
On Friday, we just enjoyed a wonderful evening at Wilson College in Pennsylvania. We performed our last Julius Caesar of the year and Celebrated a players birthday! Happy Birthday Marion Grey and thank you Wilson for being an awesome audience!
Earlier this week, the players were stoked to perform in a gym for the first time this season!! Afterwards we had some awesome bonding time with a few students while we struck the stage and loaded the truck in the rain!
This week, we led some stage makeup workshops with our Artistic Director Jason King Jones and Brittney (Olney’s education apprentice). Enjoy the creations some of the fifth graders drew and then applied to their faces. We think they really had a blast - and so did we!
We had a wonderful time this morning teaching workshops at Strawberry Knoll Elementary! Four other players will teach workshops at St. James, then we will hit the road for our first out of state performance in Plattsburgh, New York!
Here’s a little taste of some of the Midsummer characters!! Enjoy.
We are performing tonight at the Chesapeake Arts Center in Brooklyn Park, MD!
