Dużo wam płacą za rozpowszechnianie takich bzdur?

Może wyda Ci się to szalone, ale niektórym ludziom nie trzeba płacić, żeby na czymś im zależało. Wszyscy bardzo byśmy chcieli, żeby takie doniesienia okazywały się bzdurą. To miłe, że też tak uważasz.

Homophobic assaults in Warsaw

On Friday, two homophobic assaults took place in Warsaw. 

Jacek Szawioła, a former hairdresser and a participant of Gogglebox, was attacked in a stairwell leading to his apartment. The incident was recorded by the CCTV and the attackers were identified. Szawioła says that the police were really helpful, as opposed to the emergency services. “They kept asking me whether I have HIV, whether I’m infected with the coronavirus or I’m quarantined. I decided to call my friend, a lawyer, and ask her if I’m supposed to go to the hospital, as they advised me to do it while finding it repugnant to touch me. She told me to go,” Szawioła recounts.

Another attack took place in Praski Park. A group of teenagers was approached by a group of 4-5 adult men. Some of the teenagers wore colorful outfits, which caused the adults to insult them, using phrases like “a group of f*gs.” At one point, a 14-year-old boy showed the homophobes the middle finger. The men ran towards the boys and attacked them, kicking them in the back and punching in the face. Later, a mother of one of the boys wanted to report the incident to the police. “They said that there is no such thing as a beating of homophobic nature and that’s why this report won’t be accepted. They told me to set up a civil law case.”

The campaign of hatred is starting to bear fruit.

Eliot L. Engel, the Chairman of the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs, expressed his disapproval of Andrzej Duda’s planned visit to the White House. 

Engel’s statement reads: “President Trump’s invitation for Polish President Duda to visit the White House next week is yet another example of his infatuation with leaders who have demonstrated autocratic tendencies. While Poland is a close and valued ally of the United States, President Duda and his Law and Justice Party have undermined Poland’s judiciary, installed party loyalists in influential positions in the military, and sabotaged independent media outlets. Additionally, President Duda and his party promote horrifying homophobic and anti-LGBTQ stereotypes and policies that run counter to the human rights and values that America should strive to uphold.

“Such a visit in the middle of a global pandemic—just eleven days before Poland’s presidential election, in which President Duda is a candidate—is highly inappropriate. I call on President Trump to cancel this meeting immediately.”

The Polish Ombudsman, Adam Bodnar, said today that the President should apologize to the LGBT community. “The President shouldn’t use words that contest the sense of our national community, that undermine the fact that all our citizens should be equal. I think that the President should apologize for his words,” said Bodnar. 

The Ombudsman hopes that in the future the situation of sexual minorities will improve. He notes that the bashing of the LGBT made it so that many voices in the opposition expressed their support for the most basic postulates of the LGBT community in Poland.

Co jak co, ale pytanie o małżeństwa homoseksualne i adopcję w momencie, kiedy nie mamy nawet związków partnerskich, jest czystym zapychaczem i grą przed widzami TVP. Oczywiście, że w najbliższych latach nikt nie będzie próbował ich wprowadzić. To przygnębiające, ale tak jest

Duda’s spokesman talked to the press about the meeting between the President, Bart Staszewski and “a gay Waldemar from Berlin.” The President didn’t change his mind and is not going to apologize. “President Duda is open to discussions because that’s how democracy works,” said the spokesman. What he failed to mention was that the second guest was chosen specifically to aid Duda’s viewpoint, as he is a gay person who believes in the existence of the “LGBT ideology.” Maybe next time they should include L, G, B and T. Not two Gs, one of whom was carefully selected because Duda can’t debate people who don’t agree with him. He could, tragically, get educated and change his mind about something.

The Mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib, criticized Polish President Andrzej Duda who claimed that the “LGBT ideology” was worse than Bolshevism. “I’ve never heard of the LGBT killing 100 million people,” Hřib tweets.

After Robert Biedroń declined to come to the meeting in the Presidential Palace, Andrzej Duda invited a gay man who believes in the existence of an "LGBT ideology." I don't even know what to say. I hate it here

Robert Biedroń and his mother decided not to take part in the meeting with President Duda until he apologizes for using dehumanizing language to talk about the LGBT community.

Sign the Petition

Pass laws that would protect LGBT people in Poland and abolish current anti-LGBT laws

This isn’t language-related, but please, if you can, sign this petition. The LGBT community in Poland is constantly attacked and demonized by the ruling party and the president. Ever since they came to power, Poland has become a more and more unwelcoming place for its LGBT citizens. Many regional councils created “LGBT-free zones,” showing clearly that the non-heteronormative people are second, if not third, category citizens to them. On June 10 president Andrzej Duda signed the Family Charter where he expresses his lack of acceptance for same-sex marriages, adoption of children by same-sex couples and commits to defending children from the non-existent “LGBT ideology” - a construct the ruling party made up to dehumanize the LGBT community further. The very lives of the LGBT people are treated as a political issue. We need changes, and our voices need to be heard.
