Authorities have warned fishermen and coastal residents to remain alert and avoid sea travel. “Secure essentials, follow official advisories, and move to safe shelters if required,” the IMD announced in its latest weather bulletin.

Which Areas Will Receive Heavy Rain?

Andaman & Nicobar Islands

The islands will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall from November 25–29. Continuous thunderstorms and strong winds are expected as the system moves close to the region.

Tamil Nadu & Kerala

The strengthening system will spill heavy rain across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Several low-lying areas in Tamil Nadu have already reported flooded houses and waterlogging, with disaster teams on standby.

Will Odisha Also Receive Rain?

According to the IMD, if the low-pressure area over the Strait of Malacca and South Andaman Sea intensifies further, coastal Odisha may receive moderate rainfall from November 25–27. However, the impact on Odisha is expected to be comparatively lower unless the system shifts northward.

Cyclone Path: How Will Senyar Move?

IMD scientist Sanjeev Dwivedi told ANI that the system will continue moving in a west-northwest direction, heading toward the Tamil Nadu and Kerala coastline. Satellite models predict increased wind intensity and deep cloud convection over the next several hours.

The weather system is expected to strengthen into Cyclone Senyar on November 26, as per the IMD forecast. The name ‘Senyar’, meaning lion, was given by the United Arab Emirates and is the next designated name in the North Indian Ocean cyclonic storm list.

6 Killed, 28 Injured in Head-On Collision Between Two Buses in Tamil Nadu’s Tenkasi

Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu: Six people died and 28 others suffered injuries after two private buses collided head-on in Tenkasi district on Monday. The tragic accident has raised serious concerns about road safety and speeding on major routes in the region.

How the Accident Happened

According to police officials, a private bus travelling from Madurai to Senkottai collided with another bus heading from Tenkasi towards Kovilpatti. The crash left both vehicles severely damaged, forcing emergency teams to carry out an intensive rescue operation.

Police: Speeding Likely Cause of Crash

A senior police officer told NDTV that the Keysar bus from Madurai to Senkottai was reportedly speeding. Preliminary findings indicate reckless and negligent driving by the Keysar bus driver led to the head-on collision. Investigators are continuing to verify CCTV footage and eyewitness statements.

Injured Passengers Under Treatment

All 28 injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care. Health officials said several victims are in serious condition, and the death toll may rise as treatment continues.

Firefighters, police teams and district officials reached the accident site immediately. Rescue teams worked to pull passengers from the mangled buses and clear the route for emergency vehicles.
