Summer crafty updates. Lou has been moonlighting as a seamstress, making test rucksacks and sewing patches on anything that's not moving. (Cully warily eyes her cats...) Cully has been buying Sirdar Colourwheel yarn, Chiaogoo needle sets and has booked a class in ceramic print transfer.

I got a surprise yarn delivery from the States (thanks again J!) with some Madeline Tosh yarn, Juniper Moon and more. Somehow, between taking the tag off so I could get it wound into a centre pull it tangled itself into a dirty great pile of crap and I’ve spent over 15 hours untangling it. WHY?!

What’s up losers? Yarn, that’s what. 

Cully’s been on a mini (hungover) adventure round London’s yarn shops and spent a small fortune on some ‘Dyed in the Wool’ Spincycle yarn. Loop in Islington is now a happy place to daydream about. A cracking range of needles, yarn and more. TAKE OUR MONEY!

Circular needles (Chiaogoo ftw) and helix knitting has been the main projects for March - alternating a multi colour fade with a solid and then using up half balls and scraps to make cowls. Three colours are the limit though, any more than that and she gets herself into a right tangle with all the balls!

Lou’s been making granny squares so for long that she’s maybe forgotten how to make anything else.  She’s Team Slytherin all the way. Some of her original squares got robbed (so bloody Chorlton, out of all the things to rob it’s crafty shit that gets taken) from work. After the initial setbacks of losing then finding the squares (then losing more from a different project) she cracked on and her first granny square blanket was finished. It’s for the captain of her roller derby team, for his new baby so the colours are the team colours.

What’s everyone up to? Crafty times, that’s what.

Cully’s been teaching herself how to knit and has signed up for a sock making workshop at the Stitched Up co-op in Chorlton, Manchester.

Kelly’s doing pottery courses at the Clay Studio in Hulme.

Lou’s churning out granny squares like a boss and Roo’s going through the fabric hoard to make a table runner.

Jenny’s making plush (a term that I don’t think has enough traction in the UK) koalas.

It’s dark, grim and cold as balls here in Manchester (Jenny, I can’t imagine it being any warmer in Mass?) so the only thing for it is hot water bottles, all of the yarn, pinterest and craft shiz.

Cully may have sat nearly sobbing in Costa yesterday after staring at some new sock wool and a particular stunning pic of hand dyed yarn on Instagram proved to be too fabulous. #toohigh We’ve all been there, right?
