on toxic people

some people see themselves as victims in every situtation. these people are not worth the time of anyone decent, and usually wreak havoc and destruction upon the lives of anyone close to them only to completely deny responsibility for their actions to avoid the pain of guilt. alcoholics, broadly, are included in this category, but they are not the only ones-- people can have all sorts of weaknesses of character and be like this. 

these people will expect you to feel sorry for them, if they do realize they have hurt you. if they don't, they will simply blame you for being a crazy unreasonable person, and they will not understand that anything could possibly be their fault. these victim-complex havers often exhibit consistent patterns of destruction, and it is foolish to ever expect that you are excepted from, safe from, too important to fall victim to, these behaviors. everyone and anyone is disposable to a person with a victim complex, no matter how much time and emotional energy they have sunk into her-- anything to keep her internal world consistent.

no matter how much the victim complex haver loves people, she never loves anyone nearly as much as she loves herself, particularly her comfort, her personal image, and her peace of mind. anything that can be disposed of to save those three things undoubtedly will be. often she doesn't love people-- she just needs them.

these people, these willing victims of a victim complex, are sad,

but they do not deserve any sympathy. 

they could be better people if only they wanted to.

if only they were ever willing to inconvenience themselves.

-you are never the exception, even when you REALLY THINK you are

-you don't owe people who wrong you anything

-the good people in your life will quietly continue to exist and every so often you will be very grateful to them for doing so 

-you can't change stuff that's already happened/will continue to be true but you can handle those truths better

-there is strange beauty in everything...

-call people, thank them, offer to grab dinner with them, get them little presents. it's super underrated.
