This blog exists for me to post about my art because I want to do that more as I continue to learn, grow, and expand my skillset!

This blog also exists because I'm horrible at tagging my main blog and I wanted my art to all be in one place, so here we are.

Quick facts about me because I'm constantly yapping:

I've been drawing for almost as long as I can remember and, recently, I've been branching out into digital art! I'm not all that great at it yet, but I've been having a lot of fun teaching myself.

I'm mostly self-taught. I've had two art teachers before, one hated me and almost made me quit at 12 and the other one was great, but the class never really worked out and was more of a mixed media class than anything.

I am a full-time college student, currently majoring in psychology! I'm in my second semester of my freshman year and I'm hoping to pursue a career in neuropsychology

My favorite color is green!

I'm aegosexual, panromantic, and agender

I have adhd and all the shit that goes with it

I love traveling on my own and with my family and I've been to over 20 countries! I yearn to go back to Scotland every other day. If you want to hear some insane travel stories, send me as ask! If you're feeling brave, ask about Alaska and Thailand....

Base image here, which I'm pretty sure originated (as far as I can tell) from this website and is a manipulated image of a still frame of Jane Wyatt and Ronald Colman in the 1937 film Lost Horizon done by TrekBBS user JonnyQuest037. I actually managed to find the original still while looking into the origins of the manipulated picture, which was pretty cool, so I'll put that at the end!

I traced the original (manipulated) image, colored the background, and then overlaid some color onto the clothing. I've been doing some more stuff on my phone lately, so here's yet another phone drawing lol.

An attempt has been made to draw Sarek! I'm not sure if I really like how it came out, but it was fun to do and I can tell that there are a few areas that are pretty easy (facial features) vs areas that are harder (face shape, posture), so I'll work on those tomorrow. in the meantime, it's bedtime

he's also a bit greener than I intended, but oh well. shading's pretty cool though and I'm oddly proud of the lighting so it's not all bad!

we got bad hands, good hands, some weird little doodlings (phm, a younger-ish Sarek, long-haired spock, the enterprise, george washington for some fucking reason) and then some attempts at vulcan calligraphy that I have no idea if I did right or not

Instead of sleeping on Saturday night, I stayed up and did a Spock study. Based on some convos in the kscon server and my own National Parks Band-fueled high.

I'm actually pretty proud of how it turned out!

Thoughts/ramblings and bts pics under the cut!

This is likely going to end up being the title page of the treilyn comic but I need to design a title I actually like... I've also been using a new brush and I really enjoy the kind of sketchy/pencil look it gives! With this being the title page, I'll also need to rework some of my panels and try and condense the storyline I do have into a slightly smaller one that is a little more manageable than the one I have now. The rest of the comic will mostly likely be grayscale with a little less detail than this page and will only have color as a way to provide emphasis on certain details.

Here's what I have so far of the first 6 panels! I completely forgot the take out the sketch for the top middle panel so uh. yeah. There's also a workshop/placeholder title design that I thought looked good in my head but just isn't doing it for me on the panel itself. Any suggestions would be great!

I'm also thinking of doing a bit of a workshop in my notebook to better develop some of the plot I want to flesh out. And the repetition that I want to include to emphasize Treilyn's discomfort before he comes out can be one panel with different dates/positions/expressions etc rather than two-four full repeating panels. I can also try and fit make some panels kind of small or figure out how to make different sized panels to accommodate bigger scenes and/or dialogue (like the spock-treilyn chess talk where treilyn asks if it's logical to feel like he doesn't fit in his body and how he wishes he could change it to better reflect his perception of himself).

Comic is probably going to be called 'Treilyn' and I may end up drawing the whole thing on my laptop or getting another sketchbook for this project and then scanning the finished pages into a document. I also have some rough (and I mean ROUGH) designs of characters :)

I've decided on a HC that once Spock hit like 12 years old, Amanda started taking him to Earth for a few weeks at a time to get to know her side of the family and have a little more exposure to Earth culture. He got bullied a bit bc kids are mean, but also learned a ton. I like to think that Spock is actually pretty emotionally intelligent and aware of what he's feeling, but he was raised on Vulcan and subscribes to Surak's teachings so he controls his emotions but picks up on different things around him.

Treilyn is Vulcan, yay, but I hc that he was born to Vulcan parents, but raised on Earth. Either one parent died and the other remarried a human or both parents were just on earth for various reasons, idk yet. But he was constantly exposed to humans so he has a lot of human mannerisms and behaviors that he picked up while growing up. He still has some Vulcan teachings from his parents and other Vulcans he interacted with, but he mostly just does his own thing. Surak's teachings are suggestions type stuff. One of the reasons he felt like he would be kicked out of Starfleet is because of his personal take on Surak's teachings and his earth upbringing, Treilyn is pretty much an outcast in Vulcan society and he thought that being queer was to Starfleet what being too emotional was to Vulcans. Though that's not the case.

I just like Treilyn a lot. In another universe, he's probably the kid of Spock and Jim because Vulcan with natural blond hair. Treilyn was originally shadowing Spock for some hands on experience of what it's like to be a chief science officer, but ends up being emotionally adopted by both Kirk and Spock, so yay! It's a strictly platonic, father and son, found family dynamic and I love it

working on a little something something... attempting another realistic drawing, the first one I ever did was one of RDJ in the Sherlock Holmes movies, then one of Benedict Cumberbatch in his Holmes adaptation, then I did a massive one of BC from the bear wild show found here, and I've done a few more over the years. It's usually when I start getting into a new fandom lmfao. Well now I'm working on Spock.

I still think the nose is slightly too small and I need to go back and fix it and ofc the sketch isn't finished at all but here we are!

More progress from tonight! Spent 50 or so minutes drawing but I was also watching snw while drawing so it was a little slow going. Still not a huge fan of the lips or nose, but I did manage to get the jawline to where I want it to be so yay!

It will likely look a lot better once I actually fill in the other eye but I wanted to save that until I was a little more focused/stable

It's def far from perfect, I don't think I'm capturing Quinto's face the way I wanted to, but I love the expression and I'm excited to finish it!
