So I shot a gun today for the first time ever. I wasn't raised around them, it wasn't common where I grew up, and my father had some but they were literally never discussed. To be honest, for years I'd been avoiding them. I was in too bad of a mental state to feel safe having one near me, fearful of what I may do on one of those bad days when I felt without hope & insanely self-destructive. But life is getting better in many ways, and I'm happy to say that it's been a long time since any of those awful urges have crossed my mind. I've been too stubborn to quit, I want to learn & achieve more. I need to face more things that scare me, and consequently conquer them. I need to be the better version of myself. I need to take advantage of the time I have. I need to work on my mental health so I can enjoy things in my life, and changing several aspects of my environment has been a huge first step. For years I have been stuck in a rut, but I've finally got my footing. I was loading up some jugs of water for an elderly couple the other day when the man asks me, "Do you like sauerkraut?" I happily reply that yes, I love it. And he proceeds to tell me that they make it at home, and he'll bring me some.

I didn’t think about it but when I went to get my nails done for the first time, I wore pretty dark colors. My hair is dark, I have piercings, and tattoos.

I left quite the impression on the nail tech apparently as I asked for pale pink & glitter and she’s mentioned me to other customers (some of which were my friends).
