Turkey is on the rise and is increasingly a political and economic powerhouse in the Middle East and North Africa - whilst also being a short hop from North and Central Europe.
We at Port Creative believe that for all of the UK and Europe's established markets, expansion into up and coming markets such as Turkey's will be the key to long-term growth.
This is a fascinating article for our US clients that might be looking to move the whole hog into Europe. We don't necessarily agree with all the points - we felt that Martin Varsavsky perhaps took too broad a brush to some aspects - but it is incredibly useful for the US entrepreneur with no prior knowledge of us on the other side of the pond.
Funnily enough many of the negative points raised are the reasons why we started Port Creative in the first place. Setting up full-time presences is expensive, time-intensive and fraught with risk - we offer a way for small, niche and early-stage companies to access the UK and European markets at low-cost and low-risk.

An overview of hy! Berlin 2012!
The raison d'être of Port Creative is to build an international growth platform for small, niche and early-stage companies. This means we find other organisations sharing our goals very interesting - and few are more compelling than hy! Berlin 2013.
As the gumph says, "hy! is a 2-day event for 150 creators who push boundaries. hy! connects the global tech community with Europe, providing a helicopter view of its startup scene."
It's on 18th and 19th January 2013. In the next post we will upload a video of hy! Berlin 2012.
We at Port Creative are a new outfit and with that, we feel it is important to learn from the mistakes of others. We also enjoy as much schadenfreude as the next person...

We at Port Creative love nothing more than looking ahead to the technologies that will radically alter the world around us, especially as one year ends and another is about to begin.

Ben Lattimore is also Online Coordinator for a new political publication (currently on its second edition) and writes on the role of enterprise and technology in driving change.
Over two parts Ben covered the impact of crowd-funding for both creative projects and also for business and enterprise.
What are your thoughts on how crowd-funding will change creative and business financing?

A good thing:
The Government of Mozambique has announced the creation of the largest marine protected area in Africa. Made up of ten islands off the coast of northern Mozambique, the area is home to five of the world’s seven marine turtle species, and is a key breeding site for dugong, seabirds and marine turtles.

I love typography, unashamedly. Indeed, I love lettering full-stop. I will probably share a piece about Edward Ruscha I found recently.

These are simply stunning! We love them!
A favourite with us here at Port Creative. I personally love the camera work, the premise and the soundtrack - especially the soundtrack!
Despite the dark matter -it makes a valid point on the dangers of excess and success for its own sake - it is a beautifully shot film and very witty as well.
I have been aware of this quotation from Goethe, the German artist, writer and politician from the turn of the 18th Century, for many years.
It is simple, translated very well from the original German and as the first piece on the official website of Port Creative, sums our current feelings up rather well.
