The clock struck twelve, and we began to begin our lives in 2014 with the Big Ben's chimes.
My wandering and curious thoughts for the upcoming year somehow connected with the Queen (Gary Barlow was on TV > Jubilee concert > Queen?), and I wondered whether she would stay up for the countdown to celebrate the new year? After all, she must have experienced many new years all over the world. Buckingham Palace don't appear to have anywhere that has views to the river. Would she even stay in London for the festivities? She does have many options available!Â
Then I thought: Well, that handbag that she carries with her on outings could definitely fit many celebration items. Glowsticks were the first that came to mind since there's more colour choices. No one can disagree with glowsticks right? The satisfaction of the little crack you do...shake it up a little, Voila! A spectacular stick of neon light appears and the joy of using it lasts for hours rather than mere moments.
Nevertheless, I celebrated NYE with good company and hesitated a little in acknowledgement that 2013 was going to end in a matter of hours...then minutes...then seconds. I wondered how I can tackle the next 365 days and whether I can better it. When the time came, I must confess that I did not feel a tidal wave of dismay with the arrival of the new year as I would have, nor was I as displeased about it than I thought I would be. Like our lives, everything must come to an end sometime - I can only do my best and endeavour to approach everything with a [more] positive mind than previously.
Happy new year to all and do hope that everyone takes even better care of themselves this year.
