We've all heard the saying, "The grass isn't always greener on the other side." But have you ever thought about why the grass isn't greener on the side you're on. Imagine you're wearing a dark pair of sunglasses and when you finally take them off you notice, "Hey! The grass was green all along!"

Why Money Doesn't Make Us Happier

A lot of us think, "If I just had more money, I could do so much more and be so much happier!" However, studies have shown that money does not in fact buy you happiness. You may be in disbelief as you read this... obviously money would make me happier! I could buy a whole new wardrobe, go on expensive vacations all the time, get a hot new car, a big house, a better looking body... STOP! Having more money is not the answer. Happy wealthy people are not happier because they have more money than you, they are happier because they learned how to savor their experiences.

Savoring is the way of increasing and prolonging our positive experiences. When you take the time to savor a bite of your favorite dessert, you get much more out of the say for example, chocolate cake, than you would if you were to eat it too fast. You might actually end up feeling sick to your stomach if you eat the whole cake in one sitting. Like they say, too much of a good thing may not be a good thing. This is not to say that all wealthy people are less happy because they have too much... That's not the case at all! All this goes to show is that it is not the paycheck you get that determines your happiness in life, but the way you slow down and appreciate the experiences you have. So take a bite or two of chocolate cake and remember to  savor it, you don't have to eat the whole thing!
