winniephilpott:
Winnie hoped that they were able to leave soon. Not that he minded being relocated too much. He wasn’t one to complain or bother people too much. He mostly kept to himself if he wasn’t among his friends. That being said, he did want to go home at some point because living out of a small bag, and not being able to be at his work was really taking a toll on him. He liked to see all the children and fix their teddy bears. He enjoyed their faces when he was able to bring them back from what children called some sort of disaster. Really it was nothing more than a few stitches. Simple fixes here and there.
The best thing about this was he had been able to make some honey right before he had left. So he had plenty to share with anyone who might wish to share with him when he offered to. He had made his way around the hotel. It was something to wander around a place with so many people standing about or displaced at the moment. But he had settled on the buffet. Maybe they would have some tea and he could use a little of his honey in there. He spotted a woman at a machine. So he stood next to her. “Coffee?” He asked, curiously. No, he certainly didn’t want that.
“Does it make tea or hot water for tea? I don’t drink coffee, I’m afraid.”
~
Minnie beamed when she recognized the individual beside her. Minnie prided herself on being familiar with most of the longtime residents of Redwood Hollow, and Winnie was no exception. Especially since Winnie was the person responsible for fixing a beloved stuffed animal of Minnie’s niece, Melody? He was the first person that Minnie’s older sister, Mandie sought out when one of the twins had an accident with one of their toys.
“Winnie, how nice to see you. How are you holding up? And yes this machine makes tea, do you need me to show you how to make it? It’s fairly quick and easy? Melody still gushes at how well her teddy bear Miss Mcstuffins looks after your repair job..”
tiana-powell:
“I’m sure there will be plenty of chances for coffee before the power comes back on. Hopefully sooner rather than later,” Tiana joked with a small laugh. Her heart wasn’t in it though. She was ready to stop living off a buffet and be back in her kitchen. “Sounds like the beginning of some zombie movie.” Tiana shuddered at the thought. The town was a ghost town with everyone located in just three buildings, wherever the generators were. “Than again, I might prefer that to this 24/7 town party.” Tiana glanced over her shoulder and realized someone else was in line for coffee. She finished filling up her cup and moved to the side. “Well, I’m sure the mayor and whoever works for the power companies are doing their best to get everything up and running again. Until then… Well, at least we’ve got a warm bed to sleep in at the end of the day.”
~
“Yes, but I do miss my cinnamon almond lattes, an indulgence I know. Plus, these still the ramifications to consider, a power outage for an extended period of time means everything in everyone’s refrigerators and freezers is going to spoil, which means a strain on the trash collectors, the grocery stores, and the townspeople’s income. I would rather a zombie apocalypse, at least then the troubles of reality would the least of our worries.” And then there was the added problems of everyone’s plumbing freezing due to the lack of heat. This little black out could cause problems for the town for who knows how long? And of course if things weren’t corrected quickly, the blame and frustration would fall on the Mayor and town’s board. So Minnie didn’t mind that she was currently handling her share of the load, maybe even a bit more outside of her job description. “Yes, I can assure you the mayor is doing everything in his power to remedy this issue. I’m just thankful that at least we have three locations with power, I don’t want to imagine enduring this with absolutely no shelters with heat.”

jamestheneverlandhook:
James stared out the window to the pitch black darkness, playing with the little ringbox in his pocket. Yes the last couple of days James had worked towards proposing to Tina Bell. Though he was worried about the timing, he did ask for a sign but didn’t expect the whole city to lose power after that blue glow emmited the air. Well he guessed this wouldn’t be the year that he’d propose after all, but it didn’t help his mood especially when the mayor requested Neverland to be the place where the people would stay for the night. Like people couldn’t just lit candles at their own home? He felt a tap at his shoulder and he could feel his annoyance build up.
“What?!” He snapped.
~
Minnie had been given instructions from Mayor Burton to speak with James Hook on his behalf, and inform him of what was going on, as well as delivering a complementary bottle of expensive scotch, however Minnie had also made a pit stop by her home to gather up some baked goods she had made right before the blackout. Her heels clicked against the floor, and her head-to-toe pink wintery outfit could give Elle Woods a run for her money. The baked goods and bottle stored carefully in a canvas bag. Minnie had tried to get James’ attention verbally, but he hadn’t seemed to have heard her, so she resorted to tapping him on the shoulder.
“Oh, excuse me. Sorry for intruding, I just bring a message from Mayor Burton, and as well for some stuff for your family, and staff?”
tiana-powell:
“Maybe if you use another pod, but less water? It’ll be more concentrated then so… Not quite a shot of espresso, but it might be better than nothing?” Tiana offered with a small shrug. Her specialty was food and desserts, not so much coffee. She knew her coffee order by heart, but anything past that she was dumb on. “I’m sorry you have to be out there in this mess, Minnie. Honestly, I’d rather be doing something useful than continue to twiddle my thumbs in this hotel, but I imagine driving in everything is scary.” Tiana stepped up to make her second cup of coffee. Her lips went thin as she thought about the past day in the hotel. Between being bored and some of her more negative interactions, Tiana was ready for the power to be back on. “Oh, I’m fine. Just fine. Ready to be able to work again. And back in my home. I can be a people person if I’m working, but outside of that - I’m not enjoying all of the opportunities for socializing in such close quarters.”
~
“Actually, that’s not a bad idea. I’ll have to try that on my next cup of coffee. The sand they put down on the roads helps, and but there are some icy patches here and there and this gosh darn awful pot hole three streets over from the library. It’s more eerie than anything, the streets being empty and everything dark and abandoned. It’s like being out in a Stephen King novel, everything somehow looks a little sinister.” Minnie paused wondering if she should invite Tiana along on her runaround of town, but then decided she didn’t want to impose and put the other woman on the spot. “Yes, I agree. People will get even more restless and annoyed if things don’t change soon. And everyone being confided at three places... it’s a difficult situation to be sure.”
tiana-powell:
“Guilty,” Tiana smiled softly, holding up the reusable coffee tumbler she practically took everywhere. Not only was it practical and good for the environment, but it also saved her a couple of cents each morning at the café she typically got coffee from… when the whole town wasn’t completely out of power. “It’s my third cup this morning. Might be the only thing that gets me through this whole - situation.” Tiana remarked with a wave of her hand. Since both restaurants she worked at were closed, she’d spent a (much needed) morning working on budgeting and dreaming her own restaurant. “I figured you needed it more than I do.”
~
Minnie returned a smile of her own, albeit a tired one. “I’ve got you beat, this is my fourth. The only thing missing is a shot of espresso. It helps put the pep in my step. And I definitely need it right now, so I appreciate your patience. I’ve got another long day ahead of me. And my little beetle doesn’t like these slippery roads even with chains on my tires.” As soon as her thermos filled up, Minnie stepped to the side to fix her creamer and sugar and allow Tiana in. “But everyone does what they can to cope with this situation, and I don’t mind running around if it’s for the good of the townspeople.” Though it felt more like she was playing deputy mayor than personal assistant. “How have you been doing aside from the frequent coffee drinking? I haven’t had much time to socialize, I’m afraid.”
Minnie’s job was stressful and difficult on a normal day with electronic devices. At least if the mayor needed to get ahold of her or she needed to pass on a message, it could be done within the span of seconds using her cellphone. Not to mention that her planner was on her tablet and cellphone, thankfully she always kept a spare physical paper for emergencies like this. But being the mayor’s personal messenger during this crisis still wasn’t easy.
Not only did she have to keep everyone updated on the current situation, like some news anchor, she had to help with problems that arose in locations the mayor other town leaders weren’t at. Like what to do with everyone’s pets when the citizens moved to the hotel for the duration of the stay. Figuring out the budget for food and supplies, coordinating actives to keep the townspeople’s spirits up as well as entraining the children. She barely spared a moment to eat or rest, surviving solely on coffee and willpower. The brunette had stopped at the buffet set up in the hotel to refill her coffee thermos using the Keurig that town hall had supplied, while she went over her notes written in sparkly pink gel pen, a moment of quiet before she rushed off again to see the mayor and get directions and updates. sensing someone next to her, she looked up from her work to address the individual.
“Oh dear, I didn’t see you there. Are you waiting on coffee too?”

Ella was due in two months, in two months her baby girl would be born and she really needed to go for baby stuff immediately. She walked into the store looking at some cute baby socks, at least she now knows the gender. A baby girl, she had been struggling for the past few days to think of a name for her daughter when it finally hit her. Dandelion. She sincerely hoped that the child would have the bravery of both her parents, thats why she picked a name representing a lion. She bought an outfit for the little one and walked outside when the paper flew away through the wind. “Oh no!” She said as she hurried after it, struggling with the weight of her stomach and she quickly lost her breathe. “God I have to sit down for a minute.”
Minnie had been doing some shopping of her own. She was under the impression that once fall hit, it was acceptable to start shopping for the holidays. After all, she had a lot of people to purchase gifts for. Over the year, she keep a list of gift ideas for each person she needed to give present to. And it seemed as the list of individuals grew more and more with each passing her. She had been heading to the next store on her list when the wind carried a piece of paper towards her, as it skipped across the sideway. She was surprised to see a Ella chasing after it. The brunette managed to stop it by using the toe of her heels. Minnie quickly reached down and retrieved the paper, straightening up to hand it to the blonde woman.
“Ella! Are you alright? Do you need me to help you to a bench?”
Happy Birthday Mickey

A Shared Celebration
@itsmichaelmaus
No matter the day of the week, Mickey was always invited over on November 18th to indulge in a birthday breakfast. She would take the morning off of work to prepare the celebratory feast. They shared the same birthday, though a year apart. With Mickey being a year older. However as long as she could remember their families had sometimes tried to lump their parties together. Not that Minnie minded, Mickey was one of her oldest and dearest friends. And if she was honest with herself, she’s had a crush on him since they were kids. When she was seven she had decided to play hostess and invite over Michael for a very berry birthday breakfast. Featuring strawberry crepes, raspberry French toast blueberry waffles, and chocolate chip pancakes. Somehow a yearly tradition was born, and even as their got older and eventually moved out of their childhood homes, Minnie strove to keep up the practice. While the pair of friends would of course celebrate with their families and friends later with cake and presents, the brunette enjoyed their private get together.
Minerva normally held the breakfast at her home, but sometimes if they didn’t have the time to spare, they’d grab a bite to eat at the local diner. It was at the diner, that Minnie was seated at in a little booth nursing a cup of coffee while she waited for Mickey to arrive. Her birthday present for him, situated on the table as she nursed a cup of coffee. Her nieces, Millie and Melody had designed the wrapping paper themselves, using crayons to color the white paper in festive designs. Minnie had finished off the package with a homemade bow, containing four different colored miniature balloons. She had picked out a new watch for Mickey, in what she hoped would be a style he would appreciate. It seemed industrial to her, and it was sliver in color with a black band, a scheme that she hoped would compliment his wardrobe well. She even had the back engraved with his initials. The waitress came over to refill Minnie’s coffee cup and ask if the brunette was ready to order. Minnie stole a quick glance at the heart shaped watch the hung over her neck.
“No thank you. I’m waiting for someone, he should be here soon, though.”
