Posters were so influential during this time that costume parties were thrown where people would dress as characters that they had seen in posters plastered on buildings around Paris. Robert Rauschenberg is one of the great American artists of the 20th century whose work anticipated pop art and influenced more than a generation of painters and sculptors. His ‘Combines’ are considered his most well known works which incorporated non-traditional found materials into new and innovative combinations. The piece below is an exhibition poster from the Tate Gallery in London promoting a show of collages in 1981.

In China this month the mid-fall festival is celebrated to observe the change in season. One of the grandest celebrations in the year the festival is also known as the Moon Festival due to the moon being at its roundest and brightest in mid-Fall. During the festivities families gather to offer sacrifice to the moon, eat moon cakes and spend precious time with friends and family. As the festival draws to a close we wanted to share some of our best and most interesting Fair and Festival posters with our readers.
