I work at a test prep center giving advice to parents and students who need help decoding their scores and knowing if they should take the SAT or ACT but today my meeting was with a student and parent wanting college advising. I totally BSed the entire meeting and they thought I was amazing. I guess I’m better at bullshitting than I thought.

Story Time!

I was just at the grocery store to pick up some fruit, Albertsons is 5 mins away, supposed to be a short trip. Everything is fine until I get to the check out line and this old man realizes he is overcharged 1 whole dollar and makes a fuss out of it. So the cashier apologizes and tries to change the prices but needs a manager to override it (something I know is common since I worked in retail). BUT the manager is nowhere to be found and they have this other worker run around the store looking for him. 5 minutes later, the old man is rambling on about how Stater Bros is the best store and that he wants to call the head honcho at Albertsons and tell them how much that location sucks. He gets so fed up that he leaves. I’m stuck waiting for 15 minutes until finally the manager arrives, but the whole time I try to stay polite and calm because I know how much working in retail/food services sucks and I don’t want to make it any crappier for the workers. Plus yelling at someone rarely fixes anything.

I always second guess myself when I am first to post on a message board for class. Am I rushing? Did I put enough detail into my answer? Also I have to respond to 2 people for the assignment and right now that’s not even a possibility...

Got my first paycheck at the new job! 100% of it is going towards college costs ($70 monthly parking, $400 worth of books and supplies leaves me a deficit of $225).
