SULAYMANIYAH MUSEUM HONOURS AHEâS OSAMAÂ MUHAMMED:Â
IT is with great pleasure that I report the honour bestowed upon Osama Shukir Muhammed Amin, one of the key contributors to Ancient History et cetera: In conjunction with International Museum Day on 18 May 2016, the Sulaymaniyah Museum honoured Osamaâs contribution to the development of the museum, through the publication of several articles detailing the museum, its artefacts, and its discoveries here on AHetc.
Weâre incredibly proud of Osamaâs achievement, and grateful for his unique and highly interesting contributions to this site, giving us a glimpse of the treasures of Iraq, which are otherwise inaccessible to most of us.

Things are starting to take shape for Wriggle, our new exhibition on worms. These cases are set into the floor of the gallery, giving visitors a chance to see what lives beneath their feet.
Ancient Tortoise by Robin Robinson for Tuesday Zoo!
Fun fact: in high school I had an AP Comp teacher who would dock us a letter grade for every misspelled word in our practice AP essays.  So I would occasionally swap my problem words for more innocuous onesâŠand Ancient Greeks became something like Ye Olde Greeks and since it was funny enough she let me keep it. I can spell ancient now, though!  So thatâs progress at least?

Write about an art museum. What kinds of works are displayed within it? Is there a certain theme, or are there various galleries? Who are the artists? What kinds of people visit the museum? Does anything peculiar happen to anyone while there?Â

When a man at a Pennsylvania museum touched a one-of-a-kind clock, it dropped to the ground. Now, the museum has released the surveillance video in an effort to educate their visitors about the importance of their "no touching" policy.
For one visitor at the U.S. National Watch and Clock Museum, it probably felt like time stopped for a moment. That moment was when he reached out to touch a one-of-a-kind timepiece and it fell to the ground.
Itâs all caught on a surveillance video that has been released by the museum. By doing this, the museum hopes to educate its visitors about the importance of their âno touchingâ policy.
âI think itâs important that people and visitors are aware that thereâs a reason for these policies,â says Noel Poirier â the museumâs director. âThis is certainly a dramatic example of that.â
In the video, it might look like the couple fled the scene of the crime after the clock dropped. Poirier, however, says they notified a gallery attendant after the accident.
âThey went out and tried to find a staff person to come help them and accumulate the other parts,â he says.
Poirier says this isnât an isolated incident. He says visitors touch the clocks at the museum everyday. Typically, the culprits are adults â not kids. He says there are plenty of signs around the museum that read âdonât touch.â
âI think itâs a different kind of setting that a lot of folks arenât used to. But, Iâm not sure why folks really feel an entitlement, at times, to touch things that are not theirs.â
The clock that broke was created by U.S. artist James Borden. The museum has reached out to Borden since the accident. He has offered to help fix the clock.
âIt can be repaired. Itâs in bits. But, the bits can all be put back together,â says Poirier. Â
