The dorm was unusually quiet that morning. Sunlight streamed lazily through the curtains, bathing the room in warm, gentle light. Despite the tight schedule and the studio calling, Jay stayed curled up in his blanket as if it were his most important mission, his hair sticking out in every direction and his chest rising and falling in slow, steady breaths—utterly lost in sleep.
Sunghoon padded down the hall, rubbing the back of his neck. ‘Where’s Jay?’ he muttered, already guessing the answer. Sure enough, when he peeked into the room, there he was—fast asleep, wrapped up in his blanket like a perfect little burrito.
A small laugh escaped Sunghoon. “Unbelievable. We’re all gonna be late because of you.”
For a second, he considered the normal approach. He could shake him awake, call his name, maybe even tug the blanket away. But something mischievous flickered in his mind instead. He noticed the half-full water bottle sitting on his nightstand. Slowly but carefully, Sunghoon picked it up, unscrewed the cap, and grinned.
“Just a little,” he whispered, tilting it to flick a few droplets onto Jay’s face.
Jay twitched, shifting slightly, but didn’t wake. His lips curved almost into a smile, and Sunghoon had to cover his mouth to stifle a laugh. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” He flicked another drop, then another. Watching Jay’s stubborn stillness was both frustrating and hilarious, like a game he didn’t know he’d started.
The door creaked open, and Heeseung paused in the doorway, spotting the bottle in Sunghoon’s hand. A knowing smirk spread across his face. “Oh really, Hoon? That’s your big idea for waking him up?”
Sunghoon jumped, nearly dropping the bottle as Heeseung’s voice echoed from the doorway. “I-I’m—h-hey, no! It m-might be w-working, o-okay? D-don’t… don’t ruin my… method!” He stuttered out in embarrassment, a small blush forming on his cheeks
Heeseung leaned casually against the doorway, arms crossed, one brow raised. “With water, huh?” Sunghoon tried to look innocent, but the spark in his eyes betrayed him entirely. Heeseung sighed, though the amusement he couldn’t hide tugged at his lips. “That’s not gonna work. If you really want to wake him, you’ve got to try something else. Something that’ll actually make him move.”
Sunghoon frowned, tilting his head slightly, but his curiosity got the better of him. “Like… what exactly do you mean?” His lips twitched into a small, hopeful smile as he asked.
A smirk tugged at Heeseung’s lips. “Tickling. But if you go down that road, you better be ready. Payback’s a thing.”
Sunghoon glanced back at Jay, one foot sticking out from the blanket like an invitation. His competitive spark lit up immediately. “...Worth the risk.”
He set the water bottle down and crept closer to the bed. Very carefully, he traced a feather-light finger along the arch of Jay’s foot, expecting an instant explosion of laughter—but nothing happened. Jay just shifted slightly, face buried deeper in the pillow.
“Unbelievable,” Sunghoon whispered, half annoyed, half amused. He tried again, tracing along Jay’s heel and up the side of his foot. A soft, sleepy giggle escaped him, a twitching smile spreading across his face. Jay wriggled faintly, but his stubborn sleepiness held strong, completely ignoring Sunghoon’s efforts.
From the doorway, Heeseung let out a laugh.“I’ve never met someone so impossible to wake.”
Sunghoon refused to surrender. Sliding his hand under the blanket, he poked at Jay’s side. A muffled grunt escaped, and Jay twitched, but his eyes stayed firmly closed, completely unbothered. When Sunghoon tried again, Jay just let out another muffled laugh, shoulders jerking up.“Mm…hahaha! Huh…what” he mumbled, still half-asleep.
Sunghoon was giggling now too, half with triumph and half at how ridiculous it all was. “You’re seriously laughing in your sleep? Who does that?” He wiggled his fingers along Jay’s stomach and whispered teasingly, “Tickle, tickle, tickle—wake up already!”
Jay let out another breathy chuckle, curling into the blanket like a child trying to escape.
“Oh no you don’t,” Sunghoon said, following after him. “You can’t just hide in there. If I have to drag you out of bed, I will.” He poked under Jay’s arm, and Jay’s whole shoulder jumped.
“Hyuuuung, I swear you’re impossible,” Sunghoon muttered, though his grin betrayed him. He leaned in, lowering his voice, “Wake up, or I’ll sprinkle the rest of the water all over you!”
That did it. Jay cracked one eye open at last, letting out a breathless, half-giggly groan. “Wh-what are you doing to me?!” he asked, his raspy morning voice making it sound even more ridiculous
“Waking you up!” Sunghoon said proudly, still poking at his side. “And apparently, it works.”
Jay pushed himself up, hair sticking up in every direction. He ran a hand through it, trying to tame the mess—and froze as his fingers met damp strands. His frown deepened, and he glanced around in disbelief. “Wait… why is my hair wet?!”
Heeseung pointed at Sunghoon instantly, a smirk spreading across his face. “That would be him.”
Sunghoon’s eyes widened. “Traitor!” He scrambled back, laughing nervously. “O-okay! Hahaha…but listen, it was just a little water!” He backed up a step, raising his hands as if to shield himself, heart hammering.
Unfortunately for Sunghoon, Jay was already sitting up, his expression sharpening despite the sleepy haze. “A little water?” he repeated, voice low and dangerous in that mock-serious way that sent chills down Sunghoon’s spine.
Sunghoon’s eyes darted around, heart pounding. “Uh—wait! I just remembered—I can’t be late to the studio today!” He held up his hands, trying to look serious while his voice wavered. “There’s, um… practice” He took a hesitant step back, glancing at Jay with wide, pleading eyes. “I-I should… probably go… right now!” He turned on his heel and bolted for the door.
Heeseung stepped aside with a smirk, pretending to let him through… then gave a gentle push, sending Sunghoon stumbling right into Jay’s embrace.
Jay caught him easily, one hand already curling threateningly at Sunghoon’s ribs. “Where do you think you’re going, huh?” He said, now having the biggest smirk on his face
“Hyung! No! I—” Sunghoon laughed helplessly, squirming, “I was just trying to wake you up!”
Jay’s smirk sharpened, stretching slow and dangerous across his face. “Trying to wake me up?” he repeated, amused. “Is that what we’re calling dumping water on my face now?”
Sunghoon’s laugh cracked into a squeak. “It was only a little! Hyung, come on—haha—let’s talk about this—!”
“Oh, we’re talking,” Jay said, voice dripping with mock sweetness. “We’re definitely talking.”
His fingers descended—painfully slow, deliberately hovering just long enough to make Sunghoon’s stomach clench in dread—before finally making contact and skittering across his ribs.
“HYUNG—!! AHAHA—WAIT—WAIT—!” Sunghoon gasped, twisting desperately.
“Ohhh, you poor thing,” Jay smirked, voice teasingly gentle. “You are already laughing this much? I haven’t even started your punishment yet.”
Sunghoon erupted. “HYUNG—!! AHAHAHA—WAIT—!!”
But Jay only gave a soft, amused hum, tilting his head like he was observing something adorable.
“Aww, that’s cute,” he teased lightly. “You’re already falling apart. And I’m not even touching your worst spots yet.”
Sunghoon froze mid-laugh, eyes widening. “N-No. Hyung—don’t say it like that—”
Jay smiled sweetly. Too sweetly. “Well, someone decided to wake me up with water and tickles today… So I think it’s only fair I remind you exactly why you should never do that again.”
Before Sunghoon could even think about protesting, Jay’s hand dropped to his sides and stomach—light as a feather.
The effect was instant.
Sunghoon screamed with laughter, back arching off the bed. “HYUNG NO—NOT MY SIDES OR STOMACH —HAHAHA—PLEASE—!!”
“There it is,” Jay said, voice bright with victory. “Your special spots.”
He didn’t tickle hard. He didn’t need to. He used torturously light touches, skimming his fingertips up and down Sunghoon’s sides, dancing back and forth between them with playful precision.
“Hyuuung—!! AHAHA—I CAN’T—I CAN’T—!!”
“You can,” Jay crooned, wiggling one finger against the edge of Sunghoon’s waist and watching him crumble. “This is what we call a gentle punishment.”
“THIS ISN’T GENTLE—HAHAHA—IT’S EVIL—!!”
Jay chuckled warmly. “If I were being evil, I’d go faster. But look at me.” His touch slowed to lazy circles on Sunghoon’s sides, then slowly moved across his stomach, dipping into his bellybutton a few times to really tease, making him squeal and twist. “I’m being so nice.”
“THAT’S NOT NICE—IT TICKLES TOO MUCH—!!”
“That’s the point,” Jay said simply, voice annoyingly calm compared to Sunghoon’s chaos. He fluttered his fingers right under Sunghoon’s ribs, but always drifted back to his sides—his weakness. “See? This is what you get for ambushing me with cold water.”
“It was a JOKE—HAHA—HYUNG PLEASE—MERCY—!!”
Jay clicked his tongue. “You know the rules. No mercy until you learn your lesson.”
Sunghoon slapped the mattress helplessly. “I LEARNED—I LEARNED—HAHA—I’M SORRY—!!”
Jay slowed again, fingertips drawing tiny circles that made Sunghoon whine and snort with leftover giggles.
“Are you sure?” Jay asked sweetly. “Or are you just saying that to save your poor, ticklish body ?”
“I’M—SERIOUS—HYUNG—NO MORE PRANKS—JUST PLEASE—NO MORE—!!”
Jay finally pulled his hands away, far too pleased with himself. Sunghoon folded right after, breathing hard, cheeks flushed and eyes shining with laugh-tired warmth.
Heeseung’s voice came from the doorway, full of amusement. “Alright, you two, the studio’s not going to wait forever”. Jay gave Sunghoon a final teasing poke before pulling him toward the door. The room was a bit messy, still ringing with laughter, and there was no doubt who had come out on top this morning—Jay, enjoying every bit of his mischievous revenge.
