Day 2 - Chasing quaint churches, rainbows and volcanoes. We stopped by Selfoss for a quick lunch where I tasted THE BEST fish and chips ever ! I immediately regretted my craving for pizza and stole Dion’s food. After which we continued our drive to Skogafoss, halfway through we were reminded of Mother Nature’s glory - a rainbow atop Eyfjafjallajokull, a 1666m high glacier-capped strato volcano
Day 2 - Standing between the two tectonic plates
My personal masseuse.
Sitting at another edge of the world with you.
Ootd in our first hotel at Rejkavik!
Day 1 of our travels was a long transit at Helsinki. Stale face hair and skin, but greeted with amazing weather. We arrived Superbly early so the only shops that were open were cafes. We finally settled with a hipster cafe with an extensive list of coffee which I clearly cannot and did not appreciate.
❤❤❤
Best buns ever. Rice paper scissor. Seriously, I dreamt about this on the same night
Eat drink and be merry.
We went to see his new place! It's a little private corner with two floors and a garden. The Colour palette was grey and white = super kinfolk
Getting high at levels above. Ending the night with cocktails. I'd go back again in a heartbeat, spend hours taking in the view, and drowning myself with 3 cocktails at least, coupled with tapas
Ermagod. Could the dinner been anymore phenomenal? Of course with a brand like Heston's I had high expectations. The food was superbly yummy, the service was impeccable, albeit slow service (which succumbed to hearty conversations and eavesdropping the next table). I really liked the starters, I wished I ordered more. Why do appetizers always precede the mains. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ gimme food and I'll be happy, correction, gimme GOOD FOOD, and it's worth the calories and the pizza workouts.
Drinks at Ponyfish Island. As the name suggests this was near.. water. Not a beach but a canal. It was swamped with people. I swear the aussies have it good, everyone was drinking at 3pm! I had a sangria but I've been told that my sangria surpasses the professional's.
Birthday spent at an exhibition, banksy's no less! As elusive as his artwork, we had a hard time finding the exhibition. All we saw were signs on the floor which conveniently disappeared soon after. Nonetheless, we found it, after much grumbling and eye rolling. There's something artists and their ability to capture their audience with content so profound that we often scratch our heads. But art is meant to disturb. Touché banksy, touché.
Lunch at Tip OO. Known for their handmade pastas. The duck gnocchi was the best duck pasta I had ever tasted. Seriously NO JOKE. The stock, the flavours, all combined to produce this umami flavour that caused the selfish me to say "no sharing". Dion's pasta was underwhelming hehe.
Launnie airport. I'll miss you tassie. I don't know when I'll be back but I'll definitely be. Off to Melbourne that morning. It was a bittersweet moment. Nature > city.
