Even the Darkest Stars is book 1 of a duology. This is perfect for those who love a good, heavy fantasy! This has everything you would expect from a fantasy novel -- magic, witches, an ancient hearsay, an explorer, a great villain, and a magnificent plot (twist). 😏

Main protagonist Kamzin dreams of becoming one of the emperor's royal explorer, going on adventures, discovering more outside her village. When River Shara, the current royal explorer demands her to come with him, her whole life changes. Soon, she begins her journey to the summit as she discovers more about the ancient hearsay and what lies beyond her world.

Somewhere over the rainbow

-- there is so much to ponder about that. As children, we are thought to expect a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. But before that, we were thought to expect a rainbow after the storm. We would eventually realize neither to be true, at least not always. The pot of gold is fictitious. The rainbow is arbitrary.

There are times as a young lost adult when seeing a rainbow is the only time I see colors. In such times of confusion and fear, a rainbow brings hope. It reminds me of the song and phrase "somewhere over the rainbow." The pot of gold is obviously out. Therefore, it leaves room to the imagination on what one could find in the end.

Here's to hoping we all find something great. Either way, the colors of the rainbow suffice in reminding that hope exists for those who brave the storm.

Who loves collecting special editions?

There is something heartwarming to hold a special edition of a dear book that has changed your life for the better.

My favorite is definitely the Wizard of Oz's 100th anniversary edition! This story is close to me in all ways, and it is an honor to have its special edition grace my bookshelves.
