This is the Beck-Mahoney "Sorceress", a historic sport biplane designed and built for air racing by Lee and Seldon Mahoney.

Record Setter: It was the first sports biplane to exceed 322 kilometers per hour (200 miles per hour) on a closed course.

Unique Design: The aircraft is known for its "reverse stagger" design, where the upper wing is positioned behind the lower wing.

Performance: Powered by a 135-horsepower Lycoming engine, it achieved speeds up to 394 kilometers per hour (245 mph) in level flight.

Museum Display: The plane is preserved and on display at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
