Nora had never seemed someone so⌠excited to have their cards read. Often, it just seemed like a fun novelty to others and while Nora didnât exactly believe in all the witchcraft and wizardry that her grandmother seemed to be into, she did feel like there was something true in it all. Maybe others were just gifted when it came to that kind of thing. Like, the Long Island Medium! But Nora was never fully confident in her our abilities, she just figured she had read enough tarot card books and listened to her gram blab on enough to know a thing or two.
âFollow me,â she beamed, moving over to the record player and turning the volume down slightly. Nora moved from the counter to a doorway, pushing the beads away to allow herself and Alice in. âI promise Iâm not, like, a serial killer or anything,â was that bad to say? Nora thought it was something sheâd want to be reminded of before going into a random room with another person. As she entered the room, Nora grabbed her deck of cards that were already sitting on the reading table and sat down, motioning for the other to sit in front of her.
As she began pulling out deck from their sleeve and shuffling them, she decided to make small talk. âIâm Nora, by the way.â
âI PROMISE IâM NOT, LIKE, A SERIAL KILLER OR ANYTHING.â âi know youâre not.â alice responded, softly laughing to herself, like she knew something that nora didnât. she didnât know what she knew, but there was a vague familiarity in the sight of noraâs face, and her presence felt familiar. alice didnât think they had met before, but perhaps she had seen her in a vision, once upon a time. they werenât sure. there were so many visions, all of the time, and not all of them were concrete. some made sense, others didnât, and in the grand scheme, they just couldnât remember every single one.
curiosity aside, alice was looking forward to her reading, and it was painted across her face in the form of a brimming smile. intently, she watched nora shuffle the cards. their gaze shifted to shelves filled with more and more occult items. she thought she could get used to hanging around here. ânora.â she hummed, âiâm alice.â then, an inexplicable feeling, âweâre so going to get along!âÂ
