Now, usually Heeseung would reply to that, but because he’s stumped, he won’t reply. Or rather, he can’t. He scoured the entire map of the Metro Vancouver area and can’t come up with a good place to get you boba.
Like the genius he is, Heeseung picks 9 different local boba places and places 9 boba orders. All of the drinks are similar in base, topping, and sweetness and ice levels. Thank God his mom’s payment came through that morning.
One by one, the boba orders show up in the lobby, and every time, Heeseung takes the elevator up and down to grab them. He’s pretty sure the concierge thinks he’s insane, but there’s no helping that. Heeseung is kinda insane. For you, at least.
At exactly 4PM, Heeseung gets a text that wakes him up from his mid-day nap.

Tossing his phone to the side, he realizes that you should have already been home. He laid down around 2PM, which means at 3PM, you should have gotten home and the two of you should have had all eighteen bobas together.
Heeseung gets up, frazzled, and ends up kneeing a hard rock-like surface at the side of his bed. A groan emits from the rock and he realizes he just kneed you in the head.
“Jesus Christ,” you mumble. “Is this how you wake someone up?”
Heeseung watches as you get up slowly and rub the spot he kneed. You slowly make your way on to the bed and rest your head on his pillow, as he frantically gets up and rushes to the kitchen for some ice.
What an idiot!
First, he doesn’t plan your first date, then he knees you in the head on your second date. He must look like a complete fool.
“Are you okay?” Heeseung asks once he’s sitting next to your form, holding a sandwich bag of ice to your head. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t know you were there—“
“Can you kiss me now?” you interrupt his sentence, your tone sounding almost irritated. “I’ve been waiting all day.”
Heeseung immediately shuts up and places a hand under your chin, his thumb running against your bottom lip slowly. You make eye contact for a brief second and Heeseung can’t help but take a mental photo of you. You’re obviously flustered, your hair fanned across his pillow, your eyes darting back and forth between Heeseung’s eyes and lips. You’re beautiful. The view alone makes Heeseung breathless.
As he leans down, you get up and his forehead bonks against yours and you fall back down, groaning.
“Heeseung!”
“Sorry! Sorry! Don’t get up,” he mumbles in apology. His eyes close as he closes the gap presses his lips to yours. Your lips are soft and you taste like a minty cherry lip balm. He can feel the palm against your cheek begin to sweat, hopefully you don’t notice. Heeseung’s heart is racing faster than ever—he’s afraid he might die on the spot.
You, on the other hand, seem so relaxed compared to him. You pull him closer by the collar, smiling slightly. You don’t seem as flustered as Heeseung, but when he pulls away and rests his head in the crook of your neck, he can feel just how feverish you are and how your heart rate is just as fast as his, if not faster.
“Be mine?” he asks, lips brushing against the skin of your neck.
You laugh, “Yes. But I’m scared—“
“I’m not scary, I promise!”
“Heeseung, you kneed me in the head.”
“Accidentally!”
You laugh again and Heeseung can tell you rolled your eyes playfully. Patting his shoulder, you mumble, “Get the boba now.”
“About that… I may have ordered eighteen drinks for just the two of us,” Heeseung states.
You narrow your eyes in thought, “Are you like a fool, or something?”
“Yes. A fool for you.”
Bursting out into laughter at his confession, you bring yourself to confess also, “I’m also a fool for you.”
Heeseung would be lying if he said he didn’t feel the least bit giddy at what you said.

Jake is not used to noisy sleepers. He is not used to people who are constantly moving in their sleep. And he sure as hell isn’t used to being punched in the face during slumber.
However, that doesn’t mean he won’t sleep with you. In fact, because you’re you, Jake willingly allows you to torture him in your sleep. That’s how much he adores you. He’ll take every punch, every slap, and every kick just to hold you close when you’re away in dreamland.
Yes, he does lose a lot of sleep. Yes, he does have large dark circles. And yes, he falls asleep during his classes. But that doesn’t mean he’ll stop sleeping with you.
“Jake. I’m sleeping on the couch tonight.”
The statement is enough to send Jake’s heart and mind into a frenzy. Are you mad at him? Did he do something wrong? How does he not know?
His puppy dog eyes are enough to give away that something is amiss and you pout at him, “I’m not mad. Just so you know.”
His voice is wobbly when he replies, “Then why? Do you hate me?”
Well. He wasn’t supposed to say that, but it comes out anyways.
You laugh, patting his cheek, “No, of course not! I just think you deserve a good night’s rest. I know how hard it is to sleep within my general vicinity, so I want you to have the bed tonight.”
Jake’s eyes go big and he grabs the hand that rests on his cheek, his thumb softly rubbing against your skin. “Thank you, my love. You’re so sweet.”
Truth be told, Jake is not looking forward to sleeping alone. Despite how difficult it is to sleep with you, he’s gotten used to the disarray that comes with sharing a bed every night. He’s used to falling off the bed, being whacked in the face, and your random murmurs every so often. He doesn’t know how he’ll cope without your warmth radiating from your side of the bed.
The night goes on, and suddenly, the night sky is draped with clouds and stars, the moon hung low in the sky. Jake pouts at you from his spot on the bed, pillow in his arms, as he watches you do your skincare routine, “Are you sure you don’t want to sleep with me? Like a thousand percent sure?”
A chuckle leaves your lips, “Yes. You should sleep for more than four hours. You deserve to.”
His heart hurts at that statement. He wants to sleep so badly, but not without you. Eight hours of sleep without you is nothing compared to the four hours he gets with you.
Jake follows you to the couch, which has been pulled out into a bed, and stands in front of it. His arms are spread out like a starfish, preventing you from going any closer. “Please. I’m desperate. I want to sleep with you.”
“Jake, but you should have a night to yourself where you can sleep soundly,” the way you sound almost sad makes Jake rethink his begging. “Just one night, Jake. Then I’m all yours.”
His arms drop to his sides and he holds out a pinky, “Promise?”
“Promise,” you smile, intertwining your little fingers.
Two hours after you’ve gone to bed, Jake lays limply and alone in the dark. His eyes are glued to the ceiling, his ears glued to the snoring coming from outside the bedroom. He hasn’t slept a wink at all and all he can think about is how much he misses you and your sleeping form.
Huffing, he pushes himself off the bed, and walks to the living room. You sound like a hacksaw, sprawled out along the couch. The comforter is on the floor and your pillows have been tossed to the side.
Jake picks up a pillow, dusting it off quickly, and places it under your head. He takes the other pillow and places it next to yours. Slipping into the spot beside you, he sighs as your warmth envelopes him and the back of your hand whacks him softly on the cheek.
Feeling the impact, you open one eye and whisper, “Jake? What are you doing here? I thought you were sleeping already?”
“I couldn’t sleep without you,” he mumbles. You shift so Jake can position you in his arms.
“I thought my sleeping bothered you, so I wanted you to sleep alone for once. Y’know, sleep peacefully,” you admit. The grogginess in your voice makes Jake’s heart flutter, but your confession makes him feel like he’s sinking.
“You could never bother me. I love you,” Jake replies. He digs his nose in your neck and leaves a chaste kiss. “Nothing about you could bother me. I adore everything about you.”
Sniffling, you turn in Jake’s hold so you can look into his eyes. “I love you,” you say, trying to kiss Jake’s lips. Your brows furrow as he dodges your kiss. “What?”
Not nervous in the way most people get when they hang out with someone they like. He’s nervous because he can’t remember if he renewed his Costco membership. The two of you sit in the back of Jaehyun’s Rav4. Jaehyun is the Lyft driver Heeseung ordered a minute ago.
You were surprised when Heeseung told you that he ordered a Lyft, because, “Hee, Costco is a ten minute walk from here.”
He coughed into his sleeve, cheeks reddening because he had forgotten like a complete idiot and said, “I can’t cancel now because Jaehyun is downstairs.”
So as Jaehyun pulls into the parking lot of Costco, Heeseung takes a light breath and forces a smile. So what if he left his membership card at home? You guys can just walk back to your shared apartment and walk back to Costco, right?
Wrong.
Who knows what you’ll tell your friends about this encounter? Ningning already wants Heeseung six feet under, so if she finds out that he not only made you take an ordered two minute car ride, but he also made you walk back home and back to Costco, who knows how much further she’ll want him gone?
The two of you bid Jaehyun goodbye and walk up to the entrance, when Heeseung gives you a pained smile, “I don’t think I have my Costco card on me right now.”
Your jaw drops in complete shock, stopping you in your tracks, “I haven’t gotten mine renewed since April. What are we gonna do now?”
Heeseung narrows his eyes. He has a good idea. Then he claps loudly, holding his hand out for you right after, “Let’s take a walk.”
The shy smile on your face makes him giddy as you interlace your fingers and let him lead you. The walk to your destination isn’t long, since it’s still within the downtown area, and it takes you a second to realize exactly where Heeseung is taking you.
Your jaw goes slack as your favourite restaurant comes in view, a squeak is let out, as Heeseung pulls you into the Joey Burrard location. He did some digging and found out exactly where you had dinner the night you were drunk crying. Fortunately, Ningning is actually quite nice once bribed with rare Pokemon cards.
Once the two of you are seated, Heeseung rests his chin in his palm, eyes gazing at you as if you were the only person in the restaurant. Biting back a smile, you look at him with your eyebrows raised, “Yes?”
“Tell me about yourself,” Heeseung replies. Three years of living together and Heeseung has never learned anything about you directly from the source. He’s only heard pieces and tidbits about you from his friends or your friends.
“Umm .. My name is Y/N L/N and I was born in Toronto, Ontario. My parents are divorced. I have an older brother. I took gymnastics since I was 4. I’ve spoken French since Pre-K. My favourite singers are Britney and SZA. My favourite Chiikawa character is Momonga. My favourite Disney movie is Tangled. My favourite ice cream flavour is maple walnut.” you rattle facts about yourself off the top of your head and Heeseung smiles.
Everything you say is true. You have a few gymnastics trophies lined up in the living room, your French sounds more fluent than Jimin’s, and he can always hear either Britney or SZA blasting from your speaker in your room. You’re always carrying around some fluffy white and baby blue squirrel looking merch with you and you’re always singing I See The Light from the Tangled movie soundtrack. You’re an amalgamation of past experiences that Heeseung’s never gotten to see, but either way, he looks at you and all he sees is a future with you.
Maybe in the future, he’ll be able to share a favourite thing with you. And maybe that thing will be a boba drink from a franchise other than Gongcha.
“Hey, welcome to— No way!” a familiar voice greets you from above and when the two of you look up, you’re greeted by Jake in a waiter uniform.
Great. Just great.
“What are you two doing here? Just chilling?” Jake asks, almost too excitedly. “Or are you two on a date?”
“Um, the second one,” Heeseung answers plainly. His eyes meet yours for a split second and he can see the way your eyes dazzle under the dim lighting at his answer. “We’re on. We’re on a date. Yeah.”
Jake’s smile grows impossibly wider and he claps his hands, “That’s great! Do you guys want drinks to start? Do you need more time?”
Heeseung’s eyes meet yours again and you nod at him, “I think I’ll order for the two of us.”
He doesn’t know what it is, but he trusts you. You know what you’re doing, you come here on a semi-regular basis. Heeseung just hopes he doesn’t look like a fool.
You give Jake your order and as he’s writing things down, he looks at you, “How’s the project coming along?”
“Oh, the French one with Hoon? We’re pretty much done, we finished that night after everyone came skating with us,” you laugh, recalling the memory.
Heeseung feels a bitter taste in his mouth, hearing you call Sunghoon a nickname. Sure, you called him Hee earlier, but the way Hoon just effortlessly rolls off your tongue makes him kind of jealous.
Hopefully, tonight changes that and you’ll be calling Heeseung by a nickname too.
Jake finally leaves and you notice the pout that’s been sitting on Heeseung’s face, “Why you pouting, pretty boy?”
As if on cue, Heeseung’s pout turns into a wide grin, his heart pounding loudly in his chest and the blood pumping ringing in his ears. Maybe looking foolish tonight doesn’t seem like a bad idea afterall.

Jake brings the entrees and it seems like everything is going off smoothly, until you take a look at your steak and ravioli. The steak is burnt to a crisp and when you cut into it, the steak is well done. There isn’t any raw meat left.
Furrowing your eyebrows, you look at Heeseung with a frown, “Well. I’m going to send it back. Try some of your food before I send this back.”
Heeseung takes a bite of his cod and it’s delicious. It’s like nothing he’s ever had before and the way he looks at you with puppy dog eyes has you laughing.
“You’re so cute, Heeseung,” you mumble. If you’re flustered, there’s no evidence of it. However, it’s very evident that Heeseung is flustered. He can’t look in your general direction and refuses to make any eye contact with you whatsoever.
Oh, how the turn tables.
Your food is sent back without any delay and you and Heeseung chit chat about this and that, until Heeseung goes, “What made you like me?”
You choke on your new steak, coughing, a fist pounding on your chest. Heeseung can only watch in horror as Jake comes up behind you to perform the abdominal thrust.
After a while, the steak you were choking on flies out of your mouth and lands on Heeseung’s plate. You and Heeseung look at his plate with your jaws dropped and then look at Jake, who frowns. “Um, I’ll try to get this replaced. Hold on.”
Heeseung’s plate is removed from the table and Heeseung is still gaping like a fish, “I am so sorry.”
You gasp, “No! I’m sorry! What the heck, you probably think I’m so gross and weird now!”
Heeseung hands go up in surrender, “No! No! I still like you— I still think you’re cute and pretty and funny and I still like you, don’t worry!”
Gasping again, your hands come up to cover your face in shock at Heeseung’s impulsive confession, but in the midst of it, you knock over the cocktail in front of you. The glass shatters on the ground and your classic negroni splatters everywhere. At this point, other patrons are beginning to look at you and Heeseung in wonder.
Hiding your face, you mumble, “This is a disaster.”
Heeseung frowns. The tone of your voice sounds clearly upset and for a first date, this is clearly a disaster. This was supposed to be everything you’ve ever wanted for the past three years, but now here you are: mascara stained tears around your eyes from choking, choking and spitting in front of your crush, and breaking the restaurant’s dinnerware. Heeseung can’t help but feel disappointed. He should have planned better.
He asks Jake for the bill and you can’t bring yourself to look at him, even if it’s just through your eyelashes. The pout on your face is cute though and Heeseung just wants to kiss you better.
It isn’t until Jake comes back with a one hundred fifty dollar dinner bill that Heeseung checks his pockets for his wallet. Both front pockets and both back pockets are empty. Huffing, Heeseung forces a smile as he asks Jake to bend over.
“Is it possible for you to get the meal comped?” Heeseung whispers. “She’s upset and I feel bad for putting her through this.”
“I’ll see what I can do,” Jake replies. He heads to the back to talk to the restaurant manager, leaving you and Heeseung to your own devices. Long gone is the sparkle in your eye, but the pout still lingers.
Heeseung reaches over to run a thumb across your chin, mirroring your pout, “Look at you, pretty girl. Pouting. I’m sorry.”
You mumble, “Sorry for what? It was me who ruined the date.”
“No, it was me. I should have planned it better and I shouldn’t have asked you that question while you were eating,” Heeseung replies earnestly. “I’ll make it up to you.”
“Really?” you ask. The sparkle in your eyes return and Heeseung holds out a hand, to which you give him one of your own, and he places a light kiss on the back of it.
“Of course,” he grins when you bite back a smile.
Jake comes back with his own smile, “I just comped your meal!”
The two of you leave the restaurant after thanking Jake and bidding him a good night. You walk hand in hand again, but to your apartment this time. The smile never leaves your face once and when you close your bedroom door, Heeseung is surprised to hear you play Super Shy by NewJeans.

He texted you and asked you to come to his room, but he hasn’t gotten a reply yet and SZA is still blasting from your room—
Until he hears the all-too-familiar scream, crash, and sigh. Two seconds later, there’s a knock at his door.
The first thing he notices when he opens the door is that you smell nice. Like jasmine scented body wash. He won’t ever admit to it, but yes, he did look at what body wash you used in the shower because you smell so nice. And right now, that really nice scent is wafting into his room, and you look so pretty with your freshly dried hair, and you’re so—
“Heeseung? Earth to Heeseung?” you giggle, waving a hand in his face.
Right. You were here because Heeseung needed to ask you something. He opens the door and lets you step inside, your fragrance casting a spell on him.
He watches as you take a seat on his gaming chair. There’s a pitter patter in his chest as you take his headset and put it over your ears. You look back at him with a big smile, fingers positioned over his keyboard as if you were playing a game. “I’m you!”
Heeseung bites back a smile and nods, still content watching you play with the things around his desk. He doesn’t notice your eyes going wide at the pair of glasses that sit on top of his math textbook. You carefully take off the headset and replace it with the pair of glasses you found, turning back to him.
At first, Heeseung doesn’t notice your change in appearance, instead is hyperaware of himself and the way his heart is drumming in the cavity of his chest. It’s only when you take a seat in front of him that his heart goes into overdrive, the tips of his ears crimson and hot.
“Holy shit,” he mumbles, unaware that the words actually left his mouth.
“Do I look bad?” you ask, with a tilt of your head. Your eyes are so big and with your pouted lips, Heeseung can’t concentrate on what you just asked him.
He stammers, “N-no! You look really cute, actually.”
Your smile replaces the pout, which causes Heeseung’s heart melting into a pile of goo. His eyes travel your face, the way his glasses sit perfectly on top of your cheekbones and rest perfectly above the tip of your nose.
“Thanks,” you say. Over time, you’ve grown to be more comfortable with Heeseung, so you’re not as flustered around him anymore. There’s a part of him that kind of misses it, and a part of him that’s grateful you’ve become more secure with him. His eyes travel down to where you’re absentmindedly playing with your fingers. You’re not that comfortable yet. “I didn’t know you wore glasses.”
“Um, yeah. I do. My eyesight is shit,” Heeseung replies. He doesn’t wanna take his eyes off you, as if you’d remove the glasses from your face and he’d miss the way you look.
“I can tell,” you laugh. Your hand covers your mouth and Heeseung has to resist the urge to move your hand so he can see you smile. At this point, he’s almost fully forgotten why you’re here. “So, what’s up?”
Heeseung blanks. Now, he’s totally fully forgotten why he called you into his room. He was too entranced by the way you look in his glasses. He’s almost wondering what you would look like in his shirt now.
“Ah. Um. Right, let me-let me check my phone,” he scrambles, reaching for the device off his side table. With a quick swipe through his messages, he nods and looks at you again. “I wanted to ask you if you wanted to hang out with me.”
“Me? Me? Hang out with you? Heeseung Evan Lee? Bo—uhh, yes! Of course!” you stammer. Heeseung almost wonders what you were going to say before you caught yourself, but you look so gleeful answering his question. “What are we gonna do?”
“We’re going to go to Costco!” Heeseung exclaims. His eyes never leave your face, so he watches as your smile falters a bit. There’s panic setting into his system, as he tries to regain momentum. “Um, I wanted to get samples with you and I thought it would be really cute and I wanted to get to know what your taste in food is and—“
There’s a loud smacking noise that echoes in his room as you slap your hand over your mouth in shock and gasp loudly. “Yes! Yesyesyesyesyes! When are we going?”
“We can go right now, if you want!” Heeseung exclaims. His smile mirrors yours as he watches you jump up from his bed, rushing towards your bedroom. “Take your time!”
All he can do is laugh when Britney Spears begins to play from your speaker. He doesn’t realize you’re still wearing his glasses.
