I don’t even know what that excellent gif is from, but Scott Thompson — the actor who played Jimmy Price — spent a good portion of the early 1990s in drag on the Canadian late-night sketch-comedy program Kids In The Hall.

It’s subversive, and absurd, and incredibly funny. I know “1990s sketch comedy” sounds… less than promising; but it’s amazing. It pivots beautifully from straightforward sketches, to bits that are so absurd that you can’t help but chuckle, to unexpectedly-effective social commentary, to absolutely gut-punching sketches make me think I need to to back to therapy.
It’s one of very few things I loved when I was a dissolute 18–year-old with a drinking problem, and which is somehow still just as good now that I’m a boring 40-year-old who drives the speed limit and takes fibre supplements.
I’d even venture to say it’s better than Monty Python.
