Being bullied by Muslims because of being an ex Muslim and gay
My parents are Muslims, they raised me to be a Muslim but I am currently not a. Muslim. I currently identify as agnostic / Atheist. My name makes it obvious that I am from a Muslim background.
Moreover, I am gay, I have a boyfriend and we are in an open relationship.
I noticed that when a Muslim guy meets me and finds out my last name, he starts treating me as a fellow Muslim, I usually donât care and just ignore the âSalam aalekomâ and âbrotherâ. However, the way they treat me changes as soon as they found out I am not a Muslim or I am gay. These are a few examples of what Some Muslims have done to me.
A few months ago, in Vienna, on a night out, I was a bit tipsy and hooked up with a guy at a bar. We ordered an Uber and a Muslim driver came to pick us up. He saw my name in the app and made the regular assumption that I am a Muslim. He gave me a call before arriving to confirm pick up address, starting with âSalam aalekomâ, which I ignored as always. He was a bit surprised regarding the pick up address as it was a gay bar. He arrived and as soon as we got in, he noticed that we were touching each other and that I was a bit tipsy. He asked me, is this your name, and when I confirmed, he said, you are not a Muslim? I replied that I am not. He started screaming at me saying that I am A sin and will go to hell. Then stopped he car and asked us to leave his car as I was âdirtyâ
I started working in a company on a 3 months contact. On my first day, i was introduced to everyone in the office. One of the managers, I was introduced to was obviously a Muslim but I didnât care. As soon as he heard my name, he became really friendly , he mentioned the location of the prayer room and offered to help me out. After a few days, he asked if we can have lunch together which I have agreed to. We went to the office restaurant and I picked up a pepperoni pizza. As soon as he saw it, he looked at me and asked how am I eating this shit. I was surprised by his reaction at first and didnât respond. He continued by saying that as a Muslim, I am not supposed to eat pork. I replied that I donât really follow. He kept going the whole meal talking how I am a failure to my family and religion. After lunch, he stopped talking to me and tried to make my job difficult and kept escalating any small mistake in my work to my manager saying that I was not doing a good job. My manager kept defending me, but then when my manager went on holidays, the Muslim guy took charge and asked me to leave
My boyfriend and I bought a new apartment, and wanted a painter to paint one of the rooms. I put an add on an app asking for a painter. One of the responses was from a Muslim guy who said âSalam aelokomâ and offered a discounted deal for a âbrotherâ. I agreed for his quote but when he came, he saw a photo on the wall of my boyfriend and I kissing, he refused to do the job and left.
These are just examples of Muslims that will bully and harass me as soon as they find I am an ex Muslim and gay
