👀 Take a peek into Ellsworth Kelly’s unique artistic process!
Over the course of his six-decade career, artist Ellsworth Kelly created works featuring economic lines, reduced geometries, and uninterrupted planes of color.
The artist’s sketchbooks, which largely remained private throughout his career, reveal the particularities involved in creating his colorful, geometric works. While Kelly’s paintings, sculptures, and reliefs can appear to be strikingly simple, the pages of his sketchbooks hint at the real-world references that often inspired his seemingly non-objective compositions.
