hi. lets have a chat about this honeybodies situation.
number one, its not an apology. it’s a long ass list of “reasons” that you shouldn’t be in simblr’s hot seat this week.
“i want to have a genuine conversation about this.”
no, you really dont. you want to come up with excuses for why you thought what you were doing was ok and you want to put down anyone who doesn’t agree. (keep this in mind)
while i agree that perhaps you’re technically not in the realm of p/dophile, as ivory-shell put it, “You see two characters who are underage and you imagine and want to write about them having sex.” That Is Not Okay. Pick some functioning adults. Make up some new OCs with similar personalities that you don’t need to warp the image of to make them fuck.

fiction 100% can influence reality. fiction can spark ideas into people. and some people can most definitely NOT distinguish fiction from reality, and it’s ignorant to believe that they can.
“the story is literally told from the main character’s pov as an adult, meaning the entire thing is a flashback. the adult versions of these characters already exist. the fluidity of that should be proof enough that it really doesn’t correlate.”
then why didnt you write it from the pre-existing adult’s perspective? why did you feel the need to age up characters that already have a canon adult persona? also i dont think you thoroughly communicated your point using the flowery phrase “the fluidity of that should be proof enough that is really doesn’t correlate.” im going to assume that you mean because they have adult forms already, the fact that they are children for majority of canon does not matter. but that brings me back to my original point of “then why didn’t you write it from the adults POV?”

...you act as if there aren’t boundaries within media and when said boundaries are crossed there is an outcry or at least a bit of uncomfort within the audience. look at riverdale for example, people were SUPER uncomfortable with the sex scenes between a minor student/teacher or the REFERENCE of two teenagers going at it in another room. look at the films of larry clark, someone who depicted ACTUAL minors partaking in sexual activities. tell me that there was not a riot over his films. thats still technically fiction, but still had an uproar because they were minors.

this, children, is what we call manipulation. to translate: “i have a story about a minor getting molested by an adult, so therefore theres no way i fucked up and accidentally wrote something bad, especially because personal experience.”
(this is also where the condescending attitude begins, if you were wondering.)
i was a minor manipulated by an adult too, but instead of writing a literal interpretation of it i turned my abuser into a hitman who is mean to his girlfriend.

THIS is what pissed me off the most about this post and made me want to write this little essay commentary thing. “most of you wont, probably” and “i’d rather engage with people who understand” is a disgusting, degrading way of addressing anyone who is hurt and harmed by this situation. no one gives a fuck if tumblr isn’t fun for you anymore. no one gives a fuck who you engage with. what we DO give a fuck about is your lack of understanding that even if you age up characters that?? already are aged up in canon at one point but are currently portrayed as minors (but go off i guess,) it still leaves an awful taste in one’s mouth.

soooo are you past caring or do you want to have a conversation about it? people ARE trying to have a rational conversation about it, and this is what they got in return. and get out of here with this “always looked for a reason to justify their hatred of me” pity party bullshit. you know damn well that the number of people who admired you and looked up to you FAR outweighed the number of people who didn’t. not once before this have i ever seen someone talk shit about you or what you do on simblr.

you just wrote six/seven paragraphs explaining why you’re not. you dont regret what you wrote. you dont understand other people’s point of view on this. and the way this pitiful phrase was tacked on to the VERY END of your “apology” is so gross. to save you the ten minutes it probably took to write this, you probably were better off saying “sorry ur upset i guess.” and then taking off.
to conclude, i don’t believe that honeybodies wants to do anything sexually harmful to children. i think the p/dophile accusation is a stretch and hurts actual csa victims by belittling their situation. but i also dont think this is just some petty simblr drama. we aren’t talking about someone copying someone else’s style or story or characters or editing. we’re talking about someone taking two characters that are presented for the majority of their fiction as minors and “aging them up” so they can do sexual acts. we’re talking about the fact that someone does not understand that instead of doing that, they could have just used the adult versions of those characters that are already, as you yourself put it, adults having flashbacks, or not used those characters at all. sure, maybe it’s not the same, but we don’t always get to do what we want. honeybodies thought that by aging up the characters, it made them partaking in a sexual act together okay. the whole reason it doesn’t is that you had to age them up in the first place. i think that this was a poor excuse for an apology and wasn’t even meant as one.
