‘Wow. I don’t know what the worst thing was here. The fact that you called me Ross Gellar, do you hate me now Pres? S’that it? That’s the worst insult yet, worse than bein’ called Lyla Donahue.” She pressed her palm against her chest, pretending she was hurt. “Callin’ me a nerd.” Hazel snorted. “Feels like you’re kinda mad I watched ‘em without you.”

“Hey now! You know what they say, Haze; speak the Devil’s name too loud, and Lyla and her gang of DAR grannies might appear.” Presley couldn’t help herself as she looked around rather dramatically, but it all ended in a too loud laugh as she leaned back against her chair. Eyes rolling in Hazel’s direction before she spoke up again. “You know what, kid? You’re right. Can’t tell ya’ how jealous I am - I might have to hole up in my bedroom and marathon ‘em myself. You feel like watchin’ them again? --Ah, who am I kiddin’? Of course you do! You already spent - what? a whole two days? - accomplishin’ just that, so. You’ve clearly got nothin’  better to do.”

“You really should look into gettin’ some crystals. I recommend at least turquoise because it’s a lucky stone. Turquoise beads date all the way back to 5,000 B.C., y’know,” Scarlett said, matter-of-factly. “I promise they actually work and they’re not all bullshit, even though you might think they are.”

“I have a turquoise necklace that my Exes’ Mama gave me after her trip to Arizona, but I don’t think you’d want me wearin’ that thing.” Presley snorted with laughter, nearly doubling over just at the thought of the ugly piece of jewelry. “Nobody believes me, but I’d swear on my Daddy’s farm she cursed that awful necklace before she ever gave it to me. I was spillin’ paint, and droppin’ Mama’s good plates - even left the damn gate open, and the cows all had a snack on Main Street before Bennett, Colt, and I all got ‘em wrangled back up again. Don’t care what anybody says - soccer mom’s can turn to the occult too, so why wouldn’t one of these over-protective Frostford Mamas? She always wanted me gone, anyway.”

“Kid, I don’t think I’ve listened to anythin’ that’s even come out in the last - what is it - three years? God, I remember when I used to drive all the way to Tuscaloosa to get to Wal-Mart as soon as they opened to buy all my CDs... Now I barely turn on the radio.” Presley just rolled her eyes, looking around the room a bit as she settled back against the couch. “So, are you always doin’ interviews in your livin’ room, or just top secret ones like these? Gotta admit I’m a little disappointed you didn’t ask me to meet you in the dead of the night out in our corn field, but... this is cool too.”

Now that the school year was officially over, Boone found himself with some free time on his hands. He’d been doing private coaching here and there, but even that hadn’t picked up in full force just yet. Both very valid explanations as to why he was on his third visit to Beulah’s today. “It’s the cheddar biscuits, they’re addicting.” He explained, spotting someone he’d seen just twenty minutes prior. Maybe he should’ve waited longer to come back. “I swear I don’t usually get this much take out, I’m just – satisfying a craving. That’s all.” @frostfordstart​

Presley hadn’t had much luck that day - not that she had much luck with her clipboard on any given day - but with three hours of petitioning, and damn near nothing to show for it... It was safe to say she was more than exhausted. She was glad, though, that she had stuck it out for at least a little while longer when Boone came walking right back into her field of view for the third time that day; her laugh spilling from her lips before the other man even had the chance to try and explain. “You know, it might be cheaper to just order yourself a few dozen and go home? Unless what you’re afraid of is Buelah givin’ you one of those ‘Oh, Honey,’ looks. In which case, I can guarantee you she’s probably done it behind your back about... a million times today already. Might save yourself the humiliation from me too - and that? That’s priceless.” Presley Rae just smirked, no hesitation as she fell into step beside him. “Between this and the whole career as a teacher, I’m just startin’ to think you have no economic sense, Boonie. Ya gotta start makin’ better choices.”

Somethin’ about those beady little eyes tells me they’re just, like, dyin’ to talk shit the second you turn your back. -- Wait, Why? Did you catch one of the cows givin’ you dirty looks? Stepping out of the auto shop after being done for the day, Landon put his skateboard down on the ground for a moment before getting on. Popping his AirPods on he scrolled through his phone to select a song and with that he was off. Making his way through Main Street his attention was drawn to Custards immediately thinking of the invite he turned down from his friend that he hoped was having the time of her life at the beach. “Oh shit!” he shouted when he turned his attention back to the sidewalk realizing he almost crashed into someone, immediately stumbling off the board. “Are you alright? I— I’m sorry I should’ve been paying attention… The music was distracting too,” he added as he took the pods off.

It wasn’t the first time anyone had run into her - okay, it was far from the first time - so Presley couldn’t bring herself to do much more than grin as she dusted herself off. Clipboard and campaign buttons strewn across the pavement in front of her, and a dull throbbing in her ankle in her ankle, but... it certainly wasn’t the worst injury she had found herself tangled up in on Main Street. “Well, I ain’t dead yet! But damn near cost me one of my lives there, Wesley.” Presley just winked, grabbing her clipboard to hold it out in the younger man’s direction. “Gimme a signature, and we’ll call it even? Just don’t go tellin’ anyone why you signed it, yeah? Lord knows the mayor will hear and call it a ‘bribe’ or somethin’ and tell me to throw this in the shredder - wouldn’t be the first time he’s tried to nip one of my petitions in the bud.”

Don’t pretend like you don’t know exactly why I’m here.” Presley had no proof, of course, of what she had come to accuse Lyla of - nothing concrete besides the fact that they hated each other - but it didn’t stop her from seething as she stared the Donahue down. Arms crossed over her chest, like she was trying to keep herself from reaching out. “You’ve been throwin’ my damn flyers in the trash, Lyla Donahue! And don’t you dare try tellin’ me that it wasn’t you! There’s a whole pile of ‘em stacked all neatly in the trash can right outside - it’s practically got your name written all over it.”
