Alright so I haven’t analyzed any of the lyrics yet so take this with a grain of salt. This is also based on the 1998 Cats adaption bc that’s the only one I’ve seen.

It kinda sounds like in Macavity’s song, Bombalurina is reminding Demeter just how awful Macavity is.

Maybe it hints towards a past relationship between Demeter and Macavity? And Bombalurina is being a good friend (sister?) by reminding Demeter just how awful he really is.

I don’t know, what do y’all think of that song?

@unusual-ly Thanks for the info! I haven’t seen the behind the scenes video yet. I’ll have to check it out today. Also, isn’t Jacob Brent the guy who played Mistoffelees? That’s so cool that he revealed this plot point!

@phujiapples It does sound like Bombalurina is attracted to Macavity at certain points! I just saw it as her insulting him to Demeter because of her description of Macaity during the beginning of her part. Plus the smug look she gives Demeter when she tells her “He cheats at cards”. It just felt like she was really trying to make him look like an asshole who doesn’t groom himself.

Honestly, their choreography leaves a lot more questions about their true feelings versus the lyrics. They get a little too excited to sing about the guy who just stole their leader 😅
