OH YAYAYY!!! well I'm not sure if your friend has a blog or not on Tumblr but I think it'd be cool talking to them about Minji sometimes if they were willing! If not I can respect!!!!!

AND YAYAYAYAY OFC!

I have 3 ocs that will be in the same class and season as Yona, their names are Andri, Demi, and Kafka!!!! (I have their profiles in my blog but Kafka's on my main whoops)

The oc I was thinking about specifically was either Kafka or Andri,

because well Kafka is a very outgoing and extroverted girl, I could see her trying to make friends with Yona, or finding her interesting,,, she walks up to her out of nowhere one day and is like "You feel like a Mantis to me : D I like Mantis'" and like in Kafka's head they're friends unless Yona tells her off or whatever. She's just a girl who's primary focus is bugs you can't expect her to understand society norms!

Andri was a character I was thinking about too, but I thought Yona and Andri were both such opposite characters. Where Yona seems passionate, at least about the person she loves, Andri is more apathetic, the person she loves is really only that way out of a "this is how I should feel" rather than true feelings (not to say he doesn't matter to her, but maybe romantic love isn't her true feelings), where Yona isn't confident in her abilities to win against Minji, Andri is over confident, she believes herself to be naturally better than everyone else despite not even being a performer (she's an announcer)

Where Yona fears death more than losing her loved ones, Andri fears hurting the ones she does love over her death

I think Yona and Andri could be interesting parallels or opposites,,, i could imagine Andri being able to recognize their similarities and opposites, but resents Yona for it,,, idk some thoughts,,, whehehe

ANDRII woa,, considering andri is an announcer i dont see yona having any kind of hatred towards her as shes not exactly competition,, but i do think she would catch yonas interest in some way!! in the original, yona and luka both had some kind of silent understanding (without really interracting) that something within them was fundementally off (think like,,, ivan and sua in a way without ever really sitting down and talking and only witnessing eachother in passing,, like luka killing hyunwoo and yona beating hak) im sure she would pick up on the fact that andri holds something against her though,, she wouldnt understand why, but she wouldnt put too much time into it because shes not an active threat to her victory (unless andri did something to her first)

• the first round of the 49th season of alien stage was yona vs minji! yona won. she intended that outcome. yes, she loved minji, but she feared failure more.. more than losing minji, more than death itself. minji wasnt aware this was a killing game until yona told her after they witnessed luka's killing of hyunwoo. so, knowing what they know, they formed a plan. when they were supposed to be writing their song and practice, they would instead spend as much time as they could together, goofing off, basking in eachothers company, whatever they desired. their end goal was to be good enough to pass, and then when it was time to compete? they wouldnt sing. they would either both be killed, or have a tie and live another day together.. they werent sure.. minji was willing to take the risk, even if she was terrified of dying.. but yona? yes, she agreed to the plan, but behind minjis back, she would write, she would sing, she would practice. ...when the time finally came, yona sang.

• the reason yona tricked minji was because she was afraid that minji could outsing her, minji had a strong voice, a face yona thought was the most beautiful shed ever seen, and a smile that was so infectious it even made yona genuinely smile too, she had a light in her eyes and a real talent when she tried and yona knew she couldnt face against that. in a fair round, yona would still lose. she couldnt lose. all of the reasons she loved minji were the reasons she got her killed. it was never envy or something that minji did wrong, and yona prays that somehow minji knew that.

• for all of yonas efforts into being cute and perfect for the audience, shes actually a very ugly crier because she isnt used to crying. she isnt used to being overwhelmed with that much emotion. the tears, the greif, it doesnt just flow out, it rips out of her as if it shouldve never been released. when she was holding minjis dead body, she finally felt truly human — in the worst way, and far too late.

• minji is the only human yona ever thought was a good person.

• setteme has a family, i only refer to him specifially as yonas guardian because he's the one who continues to clone her.

• yona was more emotional as a child, even if it wasnt by much at all

• yona made it to the finals of the 49th season !! the final round was yona vs. luka. i'm sure you can figure out what happened to her.

she bashed a kids face in with a sharpened rock once (his name was hak) because he laid his hands on minji. (he survived, she only intended to teach him a lesson.. not permanently scar him, but considering the fact she was eleven years old with no knowledge on what can truly damage humans, she left him missing an eye and—until she was pulled off of him, didnt know when to stop.) she decided that was the best course of action because her guardian, setteme, used to "fix" her behaviour using violence, so of course when she wanted to correct hak's behaviour, her first instinct was to do the same. this event only left other humans more afraid of her, and her isolation (aside from her relationship with minji) persisted.

if yona could choose, she would not dress this way. on her own, she has no care whatsoever for style or what she would look the nicest in. instead, in a world where she lived for herself, she would wear something more comfort-oriented, maybe a t-shirt and sweatpants.

setteme used to use all the anakt guardian visitation hours.. though, not to check in on his pet. he would use it to remind yona not to fuck this up, and then sell her out to perform and sing for whatever segyeins wanted her for the day, leaving her exhausted by the end of it all. not once has setteme used his visitation hours normally, he has no care for yona aside from what potential fortune she could bring to him and his family. yona, though, thinks he cares.
