Fast food joints with play places are great for getting the travel wiggles out. But the "you have to eat first" rule is not fun. Let the kids play while parents order and eat. Take kids food to go and let them eat in the car. Kids will be refreshed and will eat more after the wiggles have been released.

Prepare for each trip with a map. Involve the kids in the destination, how they are getting there and where it is and watch their eyes light up.

Buy Play-Do party packs

TSA is wary of Play-Do, but the quantity is often the issue. I've been stopped with full-size containers, but never with the minis you buy for party bags.  Five of these in a zip-loc bag with a handful of shapes and a small roller are ideal for tray-top play and keep my daughter entertained for a while.
