Witch Aesthetics
ok so like, full disclosure, itâs not the majority of people who do this.
but itâs enough that i feel like
i must correct this, I must impart knowledge. I mean I get it, weâre not taught the fiber arts as a society, how are ppl suppose to know right?Â
Enter my shitty powerpoint. (that i actually really meticulously put together and even did research for)
The Sun Signs
I've been taking a bunch of notes so prepare for some posts about astrology. I've also decided to copy my notes online so I don't have to upload a much of photos from my hard copy notebook, hopefully this is easier to read.

âgrandmaâ crafts ranked by how afraid of them i am, from least to most
knitting â i watched a woman painstakingly knit her own wedding dress on instagram. the only reason i am not viscerally terrified of knitting is that i can knit and have therefore accepted the horror into my heart, 4/10 for effort
crochet â THERE IS ONLY ONE HOOK. HOW. HOW DO YOU DO THAT. but again, i can single chain enough to seam my knitting, so weâre relatively cool 6/10
embroidery â itâs so little and so detailed???? literally you do that with a tiny needle and it looks like it could walk off the fabric. youâre a witch i donât make the rules. i mean, weâre all witches, but you especially 9/10
spinning/weaving â literally you are making something out of primordial fluff. this by definition makes you a god, iâm pretty sure. yâall are incredible and i am in awe 10/10
tatting or handmaking lace by other methods that arenât knitting or crocheting â part of me is also always going to be convinced youâre a spider god but in a cool way. definitely the most intricate products, and the fact that i canât parse how they come into being is why i fear and respect you. 11/10 you incredible terrors
cross stitching â THIS IS FORBIDDEN MAGIC. WHAT ARE YOU. ALL THE LITTLE SQUARES???? 1000/10
Tarot spread for when dis bitch (me) is empty.
witch tip: get on academia's fucking email list! find one witchy article and they'll send you daily links to free PDFs of similar stuff. look at all the cool papers you can read đ
the tenth muse is a mortal. immortal.Â
her sky-stained fingers, tremblingÂ
tracing down age-old parchment, unbraided hair
smears the words, she is undone and
fresh tears - oceanâs bitter blood - weave earthâs murky inkÂ
(she is bare to the cloud-burst heavens)
and she writes
 of the stars.Â
and she is running now, runningÂ
over meter and fragment and storm-battered rocksÂ
tear at her feet and she stumblesÂ
on the howl of the wind and the fury of the wine-drunk stormÂ
(rain-whipped, prone, she is surrounded)
and she singsÂ
of the gods.
she is begging them, pleading
one more moment, one more breath, just one
grants her this and lays in silent question
to hear her hoarse praise of beauty in this mad passion, radiant terrorÂ
(bruised by this tempest, blood blooms on her lips)
and she breathes
one deathless pause.Â
silence.Â
Welcome to the 2020 Rural Dionysia
We are excited to announce the launch of the first edition of the Rural Dionysia. Over the past years, the City Dionysia, first held by @forthegloryofthetheoi and later passed over to @sisterofiris has known some success. It is for this reason that we decided to introduce the Rural Dionysia as a smaller event to warm us up for the Dionysian season.Â
As of now, the two admins are myself @thegrapeandthefig and @adri-le-chat. Our ask boxes are opened, so feel free to address questions to either one of us or directly on this blog if the need arises.Â
How to participate
The Rural Dionysia is meant to be a smaller competition than its urban counterpart, as such, we have selected only 3 categories:Â
Freestyle poetry
Modern hymns
âComplete the fragmentâ
As you can see, we are keeping the poetry category from the City Dionysia and adding 2 new ones. For clarity: poetry and modern hymn differ in that a poetry entry can be about anything (myth, personal religious experience, etc.), while a âmodern hymnâ entry has to sing the praises of a deity.
As for the âComplete the fragmentâ category, here is the chosen fragment for this edition:Â
Sappho, Fragment 43 ⊠throws peace mind ⊠sits down ⊠for day is near into confusion ⊠but come, ⊠toil ⊠my friends
The challenge is that the initial fragment must be included somewhere in your piece somehow in their original order. This means you can fill the gaps however you want, but you canât switch the order of the words in your piece. For added clarity, please put in bold or underline those words in your composition, so we can spot them right away :)
Please submit your piece through submissions on this blog. Check the rules below for further information.Â
Calendar of the event
Nov. 15: Official announcement and opening of submissions Dec. 13: Final submission day. Dec. 15: Vote opening Dec. 26: Vote closing Dec. 28: Announcement of the winners!
No worries though! We will be posting reminders about each step when the time comes.Â
General rules
They are the nearly the same as for the City Dionysia, that is:Â
Roleplay and fanfic are not acceptable submissions. This is a religious festival, please respect our faith and do not submit an entry if you are roleplaying or writing fanfiction.
Unlike with the City Dionysia, entries do not necessarily have to be about specific deities or hellenic polytheism except for the âModern Hymnâ category, which has to be dedicated to one or many gods.Â
All stories, myths, and poems must be entered using the submissions button.
All entries must be tagged for the category they are being submitted to. Entries must also be tagged for potentially triggering content and squicks.
An entry may only be submitted to a single category.
Each person may only submit one entry per category each year.
Winners for each category will be decided by popular vote.

Yo i was just wondering the other day if this is still a thing
Has an app. A bunch of categories and difficult levels. I just searched âUN freericeâ in the Play store. You can also make groups to compete with friends đ

It might be small, but every grain helps!
Here, a cheater course on caring for natural fibers!
1. Wool. Treat it like it has the delicate constitution of a Victorian lady and the conviction that baths are evil of a 17th century noble. (If I get in WATER my PORES will OPEN and I will CATCH ILL AND DIE.)
2. Cotton; easygoing. Will shrink a bit if washed and dried hot.
3. Silk; people think itâs like wool and has the constitution of a fashionably dying of consumption Victorian lady, but actually itâs quite tough. Can be washed in an ordinary washer, and either tumbled dry without heat or hung to dry.
4. Linen; it doesnât give a shit. Beat the hell out of it. Historically was laundered by dousing it in lye and beating the shit out of it with wooden paddles, which only makes it look better. The masochist of the natural fiber world. Beat the fuck out of it linen doesnât care. Considerably stronger than cotton. Linen sheet sets can last literal decades in more or less pristine shape because of that strength. The most likely natural fiber to own a ball gag.
