Wanda says it is time to go to bed.
Happy holidays. The pride dogs pack is enjoying their owners being home more for the holiday break.
All three dogs went to the vet today for their bordetella and influenza vaccines. Here is Ruth and Wanda relaxing after their stressful morning at the vet (in reality, Ruth loves going to the vet).
Panda destroyed the bottom to her crate, so had to order a metal replacement. If she manages to destroy this, then I don’t have a dog, I have a raptor.
Panda had her first experience on public transit, including the train yesterday. All in all, it went better than expected.
It’s been a while since my last post. The Pride Dogs pack is doing well. Here we are in the one room with a/c to try and beat the worst of the heat.
Ruth went to green lake today. No reaction to joggers, bikes, or other dogs. The only thing that broke her focus was a squirrel who decided to play chicken with her.
Big day for the Pride Dogs pack. Panda went to the pet store to get her harness, and then Wanda (pictured above) went on the bus to go meet a new puppy friend.
Took Panda for her first 1:1 walk and first time working on public access training. She did well, all things considered. She got fearful a couple times, but recovered quickly. I did tell my husband that he needs to start working with her more, as he will be her full time handler.
So while taking the Pride Dogs for their morning pack walk, I stopped to untangle Panda from her leash, and some Karen yelled about me walking her dogs in front of her property. All three dogs and myself were on the sidewalk, trying to enjoy our walk and minding our own business. I will continue walking down the same street every day, as it is one of the quieter neighborhoods in my area, and one that Panda is learning some confidence.
Also Panda had an interaction with a person where she didn’t run with her tail tucked between her legs.
Another pack walk today for the Pride Dogs.
A snippet of tonight’s off leash training with Ruth. I had zero treats on me.
So today I decided to be brave and walk all three dogs. All in all, it went well. I had to tell people to keep their distance because Panda is still gaining confidence to new things.
Ruth and Panda are finally playing together!
Ruth worked more on her off leash training and people watching yesterday. Even had a couple dogs try and get in her face, and she mostly ignored them.
Panda’s first walk. I took Wanda with because she’s smaller and mostly easier to handle. During this clip, Panda did very well, even though she was terrified. When a group of runners went by, she got so terrified that she broke loose. Thankfully she went into the shop next to the house and was recovered. Definitely going to take her out every night around the block until we get past this fearful phase.
Ruth has been doing 1:1 training, and part of that is going to a local shop that is dog friendly to work with her on things like focusing with distractions. A year ago, this wouldn’t have been able to happen.
