Fyre Festival attendees are suing for $100 million

A lawsuit is already underway after the massive failure that was Fyre Festival — a much-hyped music festival in the Bahamas that fell apart even before its official first day on Friday.

The suit, filed Sunday in California, accuses festival organizers Ja Rule and Billy McFarland of fraud and seeks $100 million in damages for attendees who reportedly paid between $4,000 and $100,000 per person to attend the pricey event, ABC Newsreported Monday.

The suit was filed by Daniel Jung “on behalf of himself and all festival attendees,” ABC News reported. It claims that Fyre Festival, billed as a “cultural moment” and promoted by Instagram “influencers” like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, was “nothing more than a get-rich-quick scam from the very beginning,” according to a statement from Jung’s attorney, Mark Geragos. Update: Fyre Festival hit with another lawsuit

Fyre Festival, the once-in-a-lifetime event that turned into the dumpster fire of the century, has been hit with another lawsuit.

The new suit, filed in California, accuses Ja Rule, McFarland and Fyre Media of breach of contract, fraud and negligent representation.

The suit was filed on behalf of three would-be festival goers: Chelsea Chinery, Shannon McAuliffe and Desiree Flores, (New York Daily News)

The suit additionally accuses Fyre organizers of violating Federal Trade Commission regulations by having social media “influencers” promote the event without acknowledging they were paid to promote it, Rolling Stone reported. Read more (5/4/17)

I do find it somewhat ironic that many people claim this lawsuit to be legitimate while denouncing the pleas for assistance from the poor. We can expect average citizens to fund the military industrial complex but not their children's future and our Mother Earth. Yet, when the wealthy engage in the capitalist system as consumers and are left unsatisfied their claims are seen as legitimate. The wealthy get to benefit from capitalism on both sides and all the while, millions of people are in meaningless conditions because such conditions have been imposed upon them, and are the natural result of neo-capitalism.
