Today, HRC President Chad Griffin joined Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Councilmember Alex Wan and Georgia Equality Executive Director Jeff Graham at Atlanta’s City Hall to celebrate the launch ofthe 2013 Municipal Equality Index (MEI).
The MEI examines the laws, policies, and services of municipalities and rates them on the basis of their inclusivity of LGBT people who live and work there.
Atlanta scored 100 points on the 2013 MEI criteria, which examines non-discrimination laws, relationship recognition, the municipality as law enforcement and employer, municipal services, and the municipality’s relationship with the LGBT community.

THE PARENTS PROJECT!!!
Thousands of LGBTQ youth have shared their stories with us over the years – most of which include parents who don’t believe them, who wonder what this means for their future, who are concerned about religious beliefs, or who just don’t know WHAT to say.
After spending hours scouring the internet for a resource that provided question-specific, easy-to-navigate, digital content for parents of LGBTQ kids, we found NOTHING.
The Parents Project will be a digital presence with videos, advice, and resources dedicated exclusively toward helping parents understand their LGBTQ kids.
Please help us reach our funding goal!

You’ve shared with us why The Parents Project is so important to you. Now let’s share these reasons with as many people as we can, and ask them to help us by donating to our cause! We will pick one person who reblogs/shares/retweets this post to win our $500 Level Reward. That means the Awkward Date with Kristin & Dannielle, the lipsync serenade, the merch, the music… all of it.

"A Sunlight Foundation analysis of lobbying disclosure reports found that of the 23 groups who are lobbying on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, only three lobbied against the bill. The National Religious Broadcasters, the Traditional Values Coalition and the Family Research Council reportedly spent a little more than $43,000 to stop ENDA in the third quarter. Meanwhile, one LGBT rights group on its own, the Human Rights Campaign, spent more than 10 times as much during the same third-quarter period - $450,000 - to ensure its passage."
