We’ve come a long way since then.
intentional // jonah marais
so i found this in my notes and figured i would share :) this was written on the request of the beautiful amazing @boomboomboomwayhoo so it’s written purely to fuck with her feelings lmaooooo hope you guys enjoy !!!
“zach! turn that damn music down!” you yelled at your younger brother, quickly wrapping a towel around your still dripping wet body. you were fresh out of the shower, and had no regards for the fact that you were practically naked. all you wanted was for that fucking rap music to be turned down so your headache could finally subside.
you stormed to your brother’s room, knocking violently on the door. you received no reply, and in your sheer annoyance you flung the door open.
the wooden door swung open, and you were not met with the sight of your dumb, rosy-cheeked little brother, but instead met the stormy blue eyes of jonah motherfucking marais.
you let out a loud squeal, nearly dropping your towel in shock. but you quickly composed yourself, well, as composed as you could be in front of the most popular guy in your grade.
“i-i-“ you stuttered, not being able to form coherent words as your cheeks flushed crimson.
jonah’s eyes never left your form, and he stood up from his place on zach’s bean bag.
“so, err. i noticed you’re kinda naked. is that intentional, or…?” a remnant of a smirk made its way to jonah’s face, and if you could become any redder, you did in that moment.
“w-what? no! i was just looking for my brother, i didn’t even know you were here,” you began to explain yourself, holding as tight as you could to the towel that was keeping jonah from seeing all of you.
“zach is in the garage getting some drinks. y’know, when i agreed to come play fortnite with zach, i didn’t know that i would be getting to see such a gorgeous sight,” he winked at you, and your stomach went up in a frenzy.
you opened your mouth up to respond, but were interrupted by the voice of your younger brother cutting through the air from downstairs.
“jonah? i got sprite and dr. pepper, which one do you want?” you could hear zach’s heavy footsteps make their way up the stairwell, and you knew that your time with jonah would be fleeting.
“dr pepper is fine with me!” jonah called back to zach, before turning back to you. “you should probably get dressed. but it was nice seeing you gorgeous, maybe we can make this a regular thing?” jonah’s flirting was relentless, but you couldn’t deny that you wanted to see him again.
“only if i get to wear real clothes,” you bargained.
“no promises.” he winked at you, and your jaw dropped. damn flirt.
“jonah! is the game loaded?” zach’s voice was getting closer, and you began to back out of the doorway.
“i’ll see you later y/n.” and with that, jonah closed the door to zach’s room, leaving you standing outside, still only in a damn towel.
you quickly regained your senses and sprinted to your room, managing to close the door just as zach made it to his room.
wow. jonah goddamn marais.
Coffee
Jonah Marais Imagine
Pairing: Jonah Marais x Reader
Word count: 1036
Summary: You’re a barista at a local coffee shop and always look forward to seeing the cute boy named Jonah walk through the door.
Warnings: A cuss word or two, fluff
Requested: nope
Coffee. Some people hate it, some love it. Some think it’s bitter and foul tasting, some think it’s a necessity of life. Some prefer tea, and some would take coffee over tea any day. Jonah was definitely one of the people who would take coffee over tea any day, everyday actually. Everyday he would come into the small, yet fairly successful coffee shop you worked at, have a little conversation with you, then order, and you secretly loved it. You didn’t want to admit it to yourself or anyone else, but every time you saw Jonah walk through the front doors of the shop, butterflies would attack your stomach and a big smile would light up your face.
“Why hello Jonah, nice to see you again.” You say with a smile as he walks in
“Same to you Y/N, it’s been exactly 24 hours since we last saw each other.” Jonah says looking up at the clock behind you, smiling brightly at you in return
You turn to look at the clock before turning back to Jonah
“Eight thirty sharp, we’re on schedule.” You say with a light laugh “Would you like your usual?” You finish
“Actually no, not today. Today I want you to surprise me with the best coffee creation you can make.” Jonah says with a smirk
“Oh that’ll be no problem, I’m a pretty great barista if I do say so myself.” You brag, earning a chuckle from Jonah
“Don’t let your head get too big Y/N, it’s really not a good look on you.” Jonah teases
“Oh shut up.” You laugh “Now go take a seat so I can go make you the best cup of coffee you’ll ever taste.”
“Don’t I have to pay first?” Jonah questions
“It’s on the house.” You whisper to him with a wink
Jonah smiles brightly and winks back before taking a seat at the table nearest to where you were taking his order.
Luckily, only Jonah and two other people who you had already served were in the shop at the moment, so you could base your focus solely on making the best cup of coffee you’ve ever made and not on taking other people’s orders.
You began brewing some coffee and then started letting your creative juices flow. Being a barista wasn’t too difficult after all the training, well for you anyway, so you were very confident that your experiment would turn out great. You combined some ingredients that you never thought would end up in the same cup of coffee together and you were honestly starting to feel a little nervous about how it would taste. So, just to be sure that you weren’t about to kill Jonah’s taste buds, you used a spoon to taste some of the coffee for yourself. As you took a sip from the spoon, you were shocked by how good it tasted. “Ha, who would’ve thought?” You mumble to yourself before grabbing the mug full of your unique, yet delicious coffee and delivering it to Jonah.
“Viola. I present to you, my masterpiece.” You say to Jonah as you set the mug down in front of Jonah.
“I’m a very tough judge, only I can really decide if this is a masterpiece or not.” Jonah teases as he eyes the cup of coffee in front of him.
“Oh I can assure you that this is a masterpiece, now drink it before it gets cold.” You say
“Fine then.” Jonah says before bringing the mug to his lips. You wait with anticipation as Jonah sips the coffee. As soon as he pulls the mug away from his lips, you can tell by the expression on his face that you had accomplished your goal.
“Holy shit, that’s amazing.” Jonah says as if his mind was blown by how good the coffee was
“Really?” You ask, just to make sure that he was serious and not being sarcastic or anything
“Yes really. How the hell did you make that?” Jonah asks
“Can’t tell you because it’s now my new secret recipe.” You say with a smile
“Oh yea? What are you gonna call it?” Jonah asks
“Depends. What’s your last name?”
“Marais.” he answers
“Then it shall be called ‘the Marais’, inspired by the boy who comes in this shop so often, I’m surprised I didn’t already know his last name.” You laugh and Jonah laughs too.
“Wow, I’m honored, really.” Jonah says with a bright smile that made your heart swell
“Of course, and I think I deserve a reward for making you such a magnificent cup of coffee and even naming it after you.” You say teasingly
“Oh really? A reward?” Jonah questions, his bright smile growing wider.
You just nod in response.
“Hmm, ok. You’re reward is a date with me.” Jonah says almost more as a question than a statement.
“A date with you? I’m not really sure that’s a reward, a punishment more like.” You tease
“Wow, ouch.” Jonah says, holding his heart with a fake hurt expression
“I’m kidding, I’m kidding. My shift ends at five, how’s that?” You ask
“Perfect. I’ll be back here at five to pick you up, and maybe, just maybe, I’ll take you back to my place so I can cook you a masterpiece in return for you making me this.” Jonah says gesturing to the coffee
“Sounds amazing, I just hope you can cook and won’t give me food poisoning.” You laugh
“I’m offended that you would think such a thing. I’m a great cook if I do say so myself.” Jonah says, mimicking you from earlier
“Don’t let your head get too big Jonah, it’s not a good look on you.” You mimic back
“Touche Y/N. touche.” Jonah smiles
“Well Jonah, it’s been good, but I have a job to get back to.” You sigh
“How unfortunate. Guess, I’ll see you at five?” Jonah asks
“See you at 5.” You smile and Jonah smiles back with the biggest smile you’ve ever seen him muster before he adds a wink. You feel yourself blush slightly as you return the wink then head back to the register to take orders.
You absolutely could not wait until five o’clock.
A/N: Sorry this is kinda short, but should I make a part two?
Coffee Shop Soulmate ~Jonah Marais~
SOULMATE AU WHERE YOUR TATTOO SHOWS THE FIRST THING YOUR SOULMATE THOUGHT WHEN THEY SAW YOU. “who the hell drinks coffee with a straw”
It was a late Friday afternoon & I had just gotten done my final class before Spring Break. So to celebrate, I decided to go to Starbucks instead of my usual coffee place because I thought it was fitting to spend a little extra on myself for working hard this week.
I approached the building with the giant green sign & stopped outside the door, second guessing my decision. I’ve never actually been able to finish a coffee from here because whenever I decided to stop and get one, something bad happened & I end up losing my drink. Maybe today would be different.
I shrugged and pulled on the large door. Due to my size, it was difficult to do so.
I placed my order and as I waited, I examined my surroundings. The place was nearly empty except for an older man sitting by himself & a middle aged woman typing on her laptop.
“Y/n.” the cashier called out. I thanked her and grabbed my cup before slowly walking to a nearby table. I set the hot cup down and went to grab a straw. I know what you’re thinking…weird, right? Not to me. I found out that when using a straw, the beverage was a little cooler & it lasted a little longer.
I had been sitting at my table for a few minutes before I felt a sudden stinging in my left arm. Looking down, I noticed small wiritng and the funniest thing I’ve ever read.
“Who the hell drinks coffee with a straw?” was slowly etching itself in my skin, followed by “she’s cute though so it’s alright I guess.”
I looked around the shop & saw the same 2 people that were here before me. It was then that I noticed a boy around my age sitting 5 tables over.
“Oh my gosh. He’s so freaking hot.” is what I thought. I noticed him flinch and his hand went up to his left shoulder. I wonder if it was his soulmate tattoo.
We lived in a world where, that if you thought something when you first saw your soulmate, it would be tattooed on their skin. What if this cute coffee shop guy was my soulmate?
I looked back at the table he was at and he was no longer there. He left before I could say a word to him or find out if he was my soulmate. Hopefully I see him again.
I finished my coffee within the next few minutes and as I was going to leave, I noticed the boy standing against the brick wall of the building. When I walked out, his head shot up & he jogged over to me.
“Can I see your arm for a second?” he asked. I pulled my sleeve up a bit to reveal the small black tattoo. “I can’t believe this.” he chuckled. “What does mine say?” he asked before lifting up the back of his shirt, giving me better access to look at his shoulder.
“It says ‘Oh my gosh. he’s so freaking hot.’ The funny thing is that it’s exactly what I thought when I saw you.” I smiled and looked at him thoroughly. His eyes were beautiful.
“I guess we’re soul mates.” he smiled and looked down at me. It was at this moment I realized the significant height difference between us.
“So you’re the one who wondered why I was drinking with a straw?”
“Yup. I saw you and hat was the first thing that popped into my head.”
“Well, for your information, drinking with a straw makes my hot drinks a little colder so I can drink them easier. Plus, it lasts a little longer.”
“I’ve never seem someone drink a hot coffee with a straw.”
“If you’re truly my soulmate, you’re gonna have to get used to it.”
“If you’re truly my soulmate, I think I can definitely get used to it.” he smirked. After that moment, Jonah & I were inseparable.
Finding my soulmate? Check.
Spending my life with my best friend? Check.
Finally enjoy a Starbucks visit? Double check.

Fear and Comfort (J.M)
This was requested by a cute anon and I liked the idea a lot!!
Summary: Jonah and Y/n are forced to watch a horror movie despite both of their hatred for it
Warnings? None, maybe swearing?
Word Count: 1.4k
A/n: I haven’t written a full length imagine in FOREVER I’m so sorry so I hope you like this one! Please give love because my writing hasn’t really been read lately which makes me saaaad anyway enjoy
Wednesday night. Movie night with the boys.
It was a tradition that had been going on basically since the moment you became friends with them. Every Wednesday when the boys weren’t on tour or busy with music, you all got together, piled on the couch with blankets and snacks, and watched movies until you were too tired.
Jonah’s arm was slung over your shoulders, your head resting on him as you watched Corbyn scroll through the movies on Netflix, everyone quietly discussing what they wanted to watch.
When he paused at the Horror movie section, Jonah protested, earning nothing but laughs from the boys.
“Horror movie it is, Jonah?” Corbyn teased, scrolling through them as he tried to find a good one.
“The Conjuring?” he asked, lifting his eyebrows as he looked over at the both of you.
“Can’t we pick something else?” you suggested, not wanting to be kept up all night by a stupid movie.
“We never watch horror movies together, maybe you’ll like this one can we just try?” Zach whined.
You looked up at Jonah, who let out a loud sigh as he shrugged, silently telling you that he guessed you guys should give it a shot for once.
You nodded your head, figuring maybe your random fear of dumb horror movies might have passed by now, even though you were pretty sure that wasn’t actually the case.
Daniel hopped up off the couch, shutting the lights off before jumping back into his spot that was on the other side of Jonah.
“Here goes nothing,” you mumbled as you placed the fuzzy blanket over you and Jonah, cuddling in closer to him as the intense opening music began, making you slightly nervous already.
Jonah rested his hand on your thigh comfortingly, leaning down to kiss the top of your head before diverting his eyes back to the screen.
The beginning of the movie was better than you were expecting, but after a while both you and Jonah had stiffened up, moving closer to each other under the blanket for safety.
Jonah nuzzled his face into your neck, his breath tickling your skin as he shielded his eyes from the screen in front of him.
The other boys didn’t seem to take notice, too invested in the movie and their own fright, which they accepted with open arms unlike you and Jonah who resented it.
You hand found the back of Jonah’s neck and then his hair, where you ran your hands through it in hopes of comforting him.
At one of the jump scares, both of you shrieked, grabbing each other tightly, able to feel the rapid beating of Jonah’s heart through his hoodie as he held you tightly, his eyes moving towards and away from the screen as the movie continued.
“It’s okay, babe,” you whispered, laughing slightly at how pathetic the both of you probably looked to the other boys, and you noticed the smile creep onto his face after you kissed his cheek, making him feel better.
“Why do people like movies like this?” he asked, his nose scrunching as he cringed, his body tense in anticipation of the next jump scare. “I don’t even know why it freaks me out I don’t like it.”
“It’ll be over soon,” you chuckled, running your hand through his hair one last time before being quiet to let the boys enjoy the movie.
You and Jonah released a simultaneous sigh of relief when the ending credits rolled onto the screen.
Daniel screamed in your direction unexpectedly, making you shriek and grab a fistful of Jonah’s sweater in your hand, throwing a pillow at Daniel immediately afterwards.
“You’re an ass,” you laughed, turning away from Daniel as you pouted jokingly.
“Awww Y/n is scared,” Daniel teased, reaching over Jonah and tickling your side momentarily, making you break into a smile despite your slight dislike for him at that very moment.
Eventually all of you decided it was time for bed, and you entered the bathroom to finish getting ready.
You shut your eyes to rinse of your face that you had just watched, gasping when you opened your eyes and looked in the mirror before realizing it was just a black towel behind you.
“Fucking horror movies,” you scoffed to yourself as you turned out of the room, shutting the light off and walking down the hall to your room.
The hallway was dark save for the light pouring from the crack under yours and Jonah’s room, and you picked up your pace and jogged into your room, closing the door quickly behind you.
“You okay?” Jonah asked jokingly, lifting his eyebrows as he pat the bed beside him.
“Fine,” you nodded, flopping onto the bed beside him and shutting your eyes.
“Let’s get some sleep,” he suggested, reaching over to turn off the bedside lamp, pulling you close as he always did when the two of you went to bed.
“I love you,” you whispered as Jonah ran his hand up and down your arm gently.
“I love you,” he said back in a soft tone, “goodnight.”
You shut your eyes in hopes of sleep easily washing over you, but they shot open when you heard a noise coming from the other side of the room.
You knew it was probably the house creaking, or the breeze from the slightly opened window rustling something nearby.
Darkness filled the room heavily, the only exception being the glimmer of the moon through the slim gap between the curtains, spreading across the carpeted floor.
You sighed to yourself as you flipped your legs off the side of the bed, Jonah groaning ever so slightly as you tip toed over to the window, quickly looking outside before shutting the window, rushing back to the bed as quickly as possible.
You shut your eyes again, hoping that you put your mind at ease and now you would sleep easily and soundly.
Every time you began to drift off, the images and thoughts of the movie you watched crept into your mind.
You glanced over at your closet, not being scared of it since you were a little kid, but the scene of the movie suddenly made you feel like your worst nightmare was hiding in there.
“Jonah,” you whispered, “are you awake?”
“Mhm,” he mumbled tiredly.
“I can’t sleep,” you told him, rolling over to face him as his eyes fluttered open to meet yours.
“How come?” he asked you, draping his arm over your torso.
“The stupid movie,” you answered, feeling embarrassed and finally thanking the darkness for the sole reason that it was able to hide the blush appearing onto your cheeks as you looked at Jonah’s smooth skin as shadows danced across his face.
“It’s just a movie babe, it’s not real,” he assured you, placing a quick kiss to your lips before rubbing his eyes.
“Yeah it’s stupid, I’m sorry,” you sighed, adjusting yourself into a more comfortable position.
“Nothing’s going to happen, Y/n. I won’t let anyone hurt you. It’s supposed to scare you, but you don’t need to worry about the same thing happening to us, okay?” he said softly, his voice raspy as he tried to comfort you.
“I know I just-I don’t know, I keep thinking about it and it’s freaking me out,” you shrugged, resting your head on his chest as he traced patterns along your back.
“Try taking your mind off it, think about something else,” he suggested, the power of his touch already making you feel slightly better.
“Like what?” you asked.
“Like me,” he joked, a tired smirk playing across his face.
“I don’t know, you’re pretty scary,” you joked back, earning an exaggerated look from Jonah, who immediately laughed afterwards.
“Thanks,” he laughed, rolling his eyes at you before kissing you again, knowing it made you feel better.
After you lay in silence for a few moments, Jonah began singing softly beside you. You were able to feel his breath against your skin as he lay so close to you, his gentle voice filling the room, washing away most of the fears you had been feeling, your mind completely focused on the sound you were hearing and the boy it was coming from.
You let yourself close your eyes, your body relaxing in his arms and he sang slow love songs to you. You didn’t even realize the moment you stopped hearing his voice as sleep washed over you.

in bed with Why Don’t We (Jonah)
Jonah sleeps in a position you would usually describe as suffocating.
He refuses to wearing anything except his boxers and frowns the second you go for your flannel pajamas.
“I can make you warm, baby.”
He presses his chest to your back, wraps his arm around you, and nearly always gets his hand around your wrist. It’s a silent command, ‘Put your phone down, pay attention to me,’ and it always works.
It’s not spooning, because, absurdly, that term offends him, and because he’s learned to keep his knees away from your space. You kick in your sleep.
He likes to use your pillow instead of his, placing kisses on your shoulder blade, your neck, the hinge of your jaw. He’s not after anything more (okay, he’s not always after anything more) but instead it feels like he’s pressing his feelings into your skin. The things he only whispers when he thinks you’re asleep,
“I want you keep you, so bad,”
“I love you so much, it centers me,”
“You’re my anchor, the only steady thing in my world, and I will build us a life around that if you just stay,”
So it doesn’t feel suffocating, sleeping with Jonah, instead you just feel safe.
he looks so soft djjwdnjddn
