the news of kim jonghyunâs passing was what i first woke up to.
i always check my phone after my alarm goes off. its routine, instinct.
i check up on the status of my favorite idols, new stuff they are working on, new music, funny videos.
i never thought iâd wake up to seeing one of my ultimate biases, one of the reasons i really got into kpop, has passed away.
kim jonghyun was a shining light in my life when i needed him and shinee most. he came at the most convenient time when i needed him most. when i first saw âeverybodyâ music video, i thought not only that the music was cool, but that this group shinee was out of this world. i did not even think twice when i saw himâ i knew he was my bias.
his voice is tantalizing, grips your soul and touches your heart in no other way. itâs rare someone has a voice like that. the talent he brought forward into this industry.. jonghyun was a legend.
not only that, but he was such a good-hearted, genuine person. he always put others first and was not afraid to talk about controversial issues. he was raw and genuine. pure. loving.
we knew he struggled with mental illness, and i feel a lot of people were able to connect with him that way. i know myself, struggling with various mental illnesses, was helped through his music and bright personality.
kim jonghyun was âbling blingâ because he shined so brightly for everyone. he was a star.
this is a hard blow for everyone in kpop. fellow blingers and shawols, we are all here to support each other through this tragedy, this loss, this unsurmountable loss that we have experienced and are experiencing now. mourning will take a long, long time. but we will get through this. we will help shinee, we will help his sister and mother, we will help sm family, we will help each other through it all.
for kim jonghyun, we will get through this and remember him as the beautiful, talented, caring man that he was to us all.
kim jonghyun, we will miss you dearly, our pure, shining bright light. may you find the peace you were searching for.
