hit the heart for a post series or part iii starter. following a few divergencies.

robby does win against' axel, echoing how daniel won with johnny with an injured knee. it takes him months to properly heal and psychical therapy.

this is not because i hate miguel but because narratively I feel that miguel at this point didn't need a win (he got his girl, he got into a big ass university, a new sister, a new father figure) while robby has lost already 2 times.

after winning he does not show again in gi, fundamentally refusing to use a CK gi after everything. but he is there to support tory and then his father.

robby does take the job he is given because he is finishing his GED.

he lives with his mother. as much as he is fixing things with his father, he can't pretend he is all happy when he feels as if he will be left behind now that laura is born.

There   is   a   short   pause   in   his   action,   as   he   stops   wrapping   his   hand   in   tape   to   look   over   at   Hawk   as   he   sits   beside   him.   There   is   an   eyebrow   raised   at   the   silence,   questioning   even   what   is   he   even   doing   there   before   eyes   fall   toward   the   container.   "What?"   and   then   sees   the   contained   delight.   He   raises   it   to   eye   level   but   Hawk   is   already   walking   away   and   Robby   is   just   amused   at   the   little   display   of   friendship,   if   one   can   call   it      that.   "You   forgot   the   candle,   jerk."   He   shouts   before   Hawk   is   out   of   sight   but   regardless,   he   is   already   halfway   through   the   process   of   taking   it   out   to   eat   it.

Robby   glanced   up   at   Daniel,   his   jaw   tightening   as   he   shoved   his   hands   into   his   hoodie   pocket.   The   frustration   Daniel   had   noticed   wasn’t   hidden—Robby   didn’t   have   the   energy   to   mask   it,   not   after   weeks   of   trying   to   push   through   on   his   own.   For   a   moment,   he   considered   brushing   the   offer   off.   It   wasn’t   like   a   walk   could   fix   everything,   not   when   the   air   between   them   was   thick   with   things   unsaid.

But   then,   the   weight   of   Daniel’s   gaze   softened   something   inside   him.   The   guy   wasn’t   just   offering   a   talk;   he   was   trying.   And   maybe,   deep   down,   Robby   needed   that   more   than   he   wanted   to   admit.   “Yeah,   sure,”   Robby   muttered,   his   tone   clipped   but   less   harsh   than   it   had   been   all   week.   He   stood,   his   movements   sharp,   almost   restless,   as   though   he   couldn’t   stay   still   even   if   he   wanted   to.   He   had   forgotten   how   it   felt   to   talk   to   someone   outside   of   Tory,   someone   who   could   talk   through   the   walls   he   built.

He   stuffed   his   hands   deeper   into   his   pockets,   glancing   sideways   at   his   sensei.   “So,   what’s   this   about?”   His   voice   was   wary   but   not   closed   off,   the   crack   in   his   defenses   enough   to   suggest   he   was   willing   to   listen—if   Daniel   had   the   right   words.

Robby   paused   mid-swing,   his   fist   hovering   inches   from   the   punching   bag   as   Hawk's   voice   cut   through   the   rhythmic   sound   of   his   strikes.   The   words   lingered   in   the   air,   strange   and   cautious.   Robby   turned   his   head,   his   brow   furrowed   in   suspicion.

The   punching   bag   swayed   lightly   from   the   force   of   Robby’s   last   hit,   the   motion   slowing   as   he   faced   his   visitor.   "What’s   that   supposed   to   mean?"   he   asked,   his   voice   tight,   controlled.   A   flicker   of   unease   passed   through   him.   Hawk   interrupting   his   training   was   unusual   enough,   but   leading   with   a   warning?   That   wasn’t   normal.

His   fingers   flexed   at   his   sides,   adrenaline   still   humming   in   his   veins.   "I'm   fine."   he   added,   taking   a   deliberate   step   forward.   His   eyes   searched   Hawk’s   face,   looking   for   the   punchline   that   never   came.   He   moved   to   fix   up   the   tape   around   his   knuckles,   pushing   hair   off   his   features   as   he   breathes   in.   "Here   to   speak   your   mind   too?"   Miguel   had   already   done   it   and   the   Captain's   headband   remains   on   a   side   of   the   room,   tossed.

He   just   needed   to   think.   Arrange   his   thoughts.

the news of a new baby does bother him and put all those insecurities back into the surface.

the way he was treated in MD during the sekai takai does not help either.
